Eleventeen, why did you get banned?
|
/wonders how Eleventeen will respond
What's his alt account? Oh, and it was for spam in this thread, so it'll only be like a 3 dayer or so. Him and RCA got banned. Bartender went more in depth in the ban inquiries thread, I beleive. |
Quote Of The Day:
"I've seen metal websites that considered LOG and KsE modern day thrash, especially KsE "Alive or Just Breathing" and LoG's last two albums. Shadows Fall and Trivium I've also seen considered as modern day thrash. Mainly metalcore bands have clear melodic death influences too." -Kittens In Microwaves Oh, I got banned for double posting like 20 times last night. And I'm pretty sure it's only for like 1 day. |

Wow. I picked up Opeth's Blackwater Park yesterday, and I'm currently listening to it for the fourth time. The growling has grown on me a lot faster than I thought it would. I'm listening to TheLeper Affinity right now, and I gotta say that the mix of Mikael's clean vocals and his growling is quite supreme as I expected. So far, my favorite moments of the album are the intro to Dirge for November(the acoustic part) and when Mikael does that echoed grunt at the beginning of Blackwater Park. Both are extremely cool. As far as my least favorite part, I'd have to say that I'm really not impressed with the riffs implemented by Mikael and Peter. They're good parts and all, but the riffs are nothing too memorable. I'm digging the solos too. They're aren't too over-the-top shred solos, but they suit the songs well.
Any other opinions? |
is a good album, a little bit overrated imo.
|
I love their riffs, they drone on a bit too long, but they're really good, best songs on the CD (bonus tracks included):

Shattered Future uploaded some new material from Opeth in the YSI thread. He says it's authentic and ripped from satellite radio.

I still can't stand Opeth...I find them tragically overrated too heh.
The growling is a real annoyance, but the music has never done much for me either...though I find myself in the minority there. |
hmk- Man, you sure did get the short straw when The Hatecrew was handing out positions.
Eleventeen- I've not even listened to the bonus disc yet! I'll check out disc 2 when I get home from work tomorrow. Chris- 123 to the balance. They have some of the most sexy acoustic guitar parts I've heard. Again, I'm extremely surprised how unoffended I am by his growls. Yesterday, I was dissapointed that he didn't do more clean vocals, but like I said, they've grown on me like a bad case of Guero. (You better get the guero joke) |
The new Opeth material that I've heard (The Grand Conjuration) was amazing.

Now I absolutely love it. |

I am started to see awhile ago that their music is pretty boring and that they could cut off a big chunk of their songs to make it drag on less and less. I do like their acoustic songs though for when I am in a mood for softer music, but other then that their music is pretty boring imo. |

I'm getting into metal quite a bit, lately. I just like trying new genres, and right now I am dabbling with some extreme metal. |
everybody choose their position,so i choose staff, you now something simple. actually i was gonna put homer, 'cause everybody was posting their position and one episode of the simpsons came to my mind, when in krusty's clown school everybody said the name of their hometown and homer said his name. |
the DoubleDisc was the only thing they had yesterday at Borders, so I had to splurge a bit(19.99!!!). Actaully, my mom got it for me. She was in a good mood or something.
And as for The Drapery Falls being your favorite song on the album, I'm digging it as well, but I don't like how it transitions from Harvest into TDF. I really dislike the acoustic tone on TDF, whereas Harvest is fairly pristine. The strings on The Drapery Falls sound too similair to the strings on my acoustic. Kind of too thick, cheap and nylon. (Nylon>steel btw) |

I like a lot of other genres, but I'm too distracted by my metal obsession and don't go into as many genres as I should, such as blues and classical. I really like those too, but haven't looked to far into them. |
