Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:25 AM

I'm increasingly becoming a music tech nerd.

I sit here on my ridiculous sound system, plotting to buy a new six string, and thinking about a bit of Sound Engineering coursework we've got coming up. (using original 2" tape and a full pro standard analogue studio to remix Marvin Gaye)
My friend has a wireless internet transmitter in his house, he can pick it up from within one kilometre.

I'm going to get a wireless network thing when I get a laptop, so I can lie in bed and be on MX.
That's what I do! I'm on a 2 megabit wireless connection (4 times standard broadband) It's spiffy.

I wish I could do all of that, but I'm only dreaming of them...... The 6er being the closest to reality...

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:31 AM

Oh, this time next week I'll be running Cubase VST as well. It's on the Synthetic and Computer Audio Engineering suite computers in Uni. Our lecturer basically said:

"Obviously I can't condone software piracy, don't be absurd. You all brought your blank discs? You need to burn these coursework files here. Out of interest, this is where they put the Cubase VST installer. Funny that."

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:32 AM

drools... Sounds technical? And damn good?

I'm stupid when it comes to expensive things like this...

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2004 09:33 AM

Did you notice we are the only forum without an active American mod

I declare an American Revolution.

THE BRITISH AND AUSTRALIAN ARE COMING, SOUND THE BELLS!

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:34 AM

Nope.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:37 AM

LR may not be so active right now, but she is a Supermod, you know. She's a lot more powerful than me and MadThumbs.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:38 AM

But she's gone.... The first mod I ever knew..... :upset:....

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2004 09:39 AM

Exactly, which means that our Dread King James cannot control the church of England anymore with his corruption and blasphemies. WE MUST RISE AGAINST WE MUST CREATE A GLORIUS REVOLUTION

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:40 AM

She's not actually gone, as far as I know, at least not permanently. She's just very busy. Sometimes real life gets in the way.

So bored..... someone do something entertaining.

Dread... King... What the hell?

There's so much wrong with that I don't even know where to start.

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2004 09:42 AM

Leave me alone, I just woke up and haven't posted in a long time :upset:

I know that, but it's been a while... Whodoo is gone forever, I belive he was still mod my first few weeks, but I'm not sure....

gaslight 10-16-2004 09:45 AM

I'm pretty sure I've seen Whodoo around.

LR isn't gone, she's just busy trying to find a new house for her family or something like that.

risbo 10-16-2004 09:45 AM

Ha, Wintermute I got exited for a second in that thread to. Haven't seen one her LRs' posts in a while...

9-23 was Whodoo's last post...

Yeah, Whodo is very rarely here. You see him post occasionally, but he's all but demodded.

Technically he's a mod, but a local mod with no locale. That means the only mod power he has is seeing where posts have been deleted (but not reading them) and accessing the Mod Forum. In theory he can also do IP searches, but he'd need someone to tell him the IP, first, which renders it utterly pointless as they could do it themselves.

And I was mushing the Mayflower compact and the Dominion of New England and the Bloodless Revolution together for some reason.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:54 AM

Whoodoo was mod for my first month to the day almost.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 10:00 AM

He was always a pretty silent one, really. He was a mod when I signed up, and he remained a mod for ages after, but you never really saw him round much. He did his job well, don't get me wrong, just pretty stealthily.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 10:07 AM

I'd rather be able to talk to a mod than just see what they're doing. I think the mods help people out, and all of our mods are eloquent, but they still keep it simple when they post, so people like me can understand.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 10:09 AM

User first, mod second, that's the way to do it.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 10:11 AM

That sounds good!

EDIT: My post count it 1977!

Vandiegrrrl 10-16-2004 10:20 AM

Hiya guys, when posting a piccie on here what dimensions and kb size should I be aiming for, don't want a HUGE thing!?

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 10:22 AM

Just open it in Paint if you have Windows, go to stretch/skew, and reduce the size to something reasonable.

Vandiegrrrl 10-16-2004 10:29 AM

Cheers Paul, you're wonderful! I'm so tired I can't even think straight!

I WAS PROMISED THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO NAME THE 14th THREAD

Wintermute 10-16-2004 10:37 AM

Were you?

Well, make a suggestion, I can edit it if necessary.
