Have you seen this:http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=47838
It gets me so excited, Josh Homme possibly appearing on the album, and a new video in the works :naughty: I'm kind of annoyed they are playing at Reading, I was hoping they might play Download festival, which I should be definitely going to anyway.
Buy an album. I saw that "Maximum Tool" thing in a random used CD store, the one with a free mini-poster, and none of the songs on the tracklist had actual Tool songs on them. They did have that "Choke" song that Cigaro just mentioned though. Reckon I should get it? Even though it's probably terrible/fake.
Yeah, I wouldn't spend money on one of those, unless its really cheap. |

I'm pumped about Leeds/Reading. I'll be at Leeds. Muse and Tool. Beyond amazing headliners for me.
|
123 on that
Though im not likely to bother with Download, due to the first few bands announced
Come to Reading Ben! I'm not a big Homme fan but i apreciate he may do well in the extra guitar slot, formerly filled by buzz... We all knew the video is in the works...'Adam will stay in La...' |
I know Homme was in Queens of the Stone Age, but was he also their singer?
|

Though im not likely to bother with Download, due to the first few bands announced
Yeah I wasn't impressed with the announcement, but those aren't the headliners, so they still may have something good in store.
I know Homme was in Queens of the Stone Age, but was he also their singer?
Yes |
Prodigy are playing download, which would be ace...
But Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Deftones and Korn being the other main bands :-/ |
and here i thought this thread got back to TOoL
|
Nah me and AJIG are back in business, 'ckin up the thread...:)

The only 3 officially confirmed are Prodigy, Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine. And back to Tool... are the new DVDs of Schism and Parabola worth getting? I know the videos are two of the greatest things ever created, but I have decent quality versions on my PC, so is it worth it for the extras? |
i know....
i guess i waited this friggin long. Whats a couple extra months huh |

The dual commentary on them is pretty funny though.

Ok, well I was just at blabbermouth and seems like the current festival lineup is looking something like this so far:
Apr. 29-30 - Indio, CA @ Coachella Festival Jun. 2-4 - GER @ Rock am Ring / Rock im Park Festivals Jun. 3-5 - NETH @ Pinkpop Festival Jun. 16-18 - Interlaken, SWI @ Greenfield Festival Jun. 29 - Jul. 2 - Roskilde, DEN @ Roskilde Festival Jul. 4-8 – NOR @ Quart Festival (to be confirmed) Aug. 25-27 – Reading, UK @ Reading Festival By the way, I have that song, 'Choke' on my computer. I found it a few months ago when I was searching for material from Maynard's older band, CAD. Wasn't really sure whether it was Tool or not..but now I guess it is. If anyone's interested let me know and I'll upload it. |
A fellow dane

This is the second time I've heard of the song "Chocked"...can anybody else shed a little light on what this is? |
Is Skeptical a song? If so, I haven't heard that nor Choked.

Yeah Skeptical too.

Well, I dug up some information on the song and I found that it is not infact, Tool. However, the vocals on there were actually done by MJK. Here's a review of the album ('Flyin' Traps') in which you can find the song: "This collection, compiled by Redd Kross drummer Brian Reitzell, features 15 tracks by some of the most important drummers of the "alternative" rock world. Yet it's not a drumming album per se, considering only two tracks are actual drum solos (and oddly enough, one of those two solos is performed by J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr guitar fame). Still, Flyin' Traps is almost entirely instrumental -- and the drumming is obviously the centerpiece -- but the performances are essentially song- oriented. A few tracks are dead giveaways to the band a particular drummer resides in: Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips), Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), and Dale Crover (Melvins) all perform tracks that sound like their respective bands. That's not necessarily a weakness -- Drozd's psychedelic "Headphones Theme from Seemingly Infinity" is actually one of the standouts, along with the rhythmically intense "The Gay '90s" by Josh Freese (of Paul Westerberg and Slider fame). It may be for special tastes, but at least it's nice to see the guys in the back moving to the forefront for a change." Anyway, here's the song for anyone who wants to give it a listen: "Choked" It's interesting. |
RELEASE DATES NOT OFFICIAL
Although there are lots of release dates being bandied about, NONE are official as of this posting. However, in all likelihood, the CD will be released sometime in MAY, and hopefully earlier in that month as opposed to later. As soon as the date becomes official (or, as soon as I'm told that it's official) I will post it on the site, and then some of you can respond that it's old news.
So, the album is coming out in May. |
Does anyone know what the name of the album is going to be?
|
Transvestite Musings.
|
lol

Either way, they are both excellent titles for the album and DVD. :) |
Oh, I HAVE heard Choked... I like it, it's haunting and tribal. Great drumming.

That's a horrible name for anything. Refractionoid? "Hey, Adam, let's use this geometry book to name our album." "Alright. Where's Danny?" "I NEED PAISTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!! RHAAAAAAAAAA!!!" *smash smash* |
What are you on about? That name is amazing. It shows Tool's deeply intellectual nature, and their inner reflection of the earth as a secular as well as spirtual force not bounded by the physical laws of man. Insightful is a word I'd use to describe it.

I saw these amazing percussionists from New York tonight. My lover's chior sang with them.
The group was called Ethos. Four percussionists. They use tabla, xylophone, bongos, a drum set and all kinds of different things. The reason I'm saying this is some of the things they did reminded me of Tool, especially the tabla playing. They had a huge gong too, and they created such a great atmosphere. It was one of the coolest things I've seen in a LONG time. There was also this part where each of them were playing the same rhythm on a single drum that each of them had in 4/4, and were all at the same time reciting "Ta-ki-da-ma-ta-ki-ta" in 7/4 time. Then they varied the tempo of the vocalizing and syncopated it while still keeping every bit of the drumming perfect. It was insane how good these guys were. The atmospher really reminded me of Lateralus and especially Danny Carey, as he plays tabla and other things as well. |

I'm not all too excited about the title either, but I'm sure when we hear the new material maybe we'll get it more. It isn't a bad name by any means though. |
ATTN Huber!
I know this isn't the best way to get your attention, but the "other" forums have been revived, and there's quite a bit of activity now. I was wondering if you were still interested in the place... A .com will be coming by tomorrow too! |
