Haha.

I think there are a lot of Elliott Smith fans here, and I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere in the album review anyway, so I thought I would share this tidbit about the song "King's Crossing":
Just after he sings the lyric - "Give me one good reason not to do it" you can faintly hear his girlfriend and sister whisper - "Because we love you."
So if you like listening to that song but never noticed that, give it another try and maybe you'll feel a renewed sense of sorrow :(

Tangy zizzle 09-10-2005 12:21 AM

Heavy stuff.

Glitterati 09-10-2005 01:24 AM

Man, that ska show was intense.

Ew, I'm gonna have to wash my shirt...I skanked too hard and now it's all sweaty.

that's not sweat, you were probably just standing underneath the trombonist's spit valve

RollerQueen 09-10-2005 09:00 AM

I'm off to play a benefit show. Later, kids. Kill whitey.

asymm 09-10-2005 10:32 AM

That would be an amazing show... quite lucky.

Did Xiu Xiu play mostly La Foret like he did at Intonation?

Zappa 09-10-2005 02:07 PM

Right down there is a video of me playing a Native American flute (made of PVC) into a Radioshak wacky toy microphone (called a Sing'n'Jam). It's pretty sweet.

I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to do this, cause the RIAA can't bust MX for allowing personal files to be shared, far as I know.

Jacaranda 09-10-2005 02:19 PM

That links not working Zappa: Unfortunately, the link you have clicked is not available. etc...

Do you have to hxxp it no matter what?

Zappa 09-10-2005 02:21 PM

Rats. Use your imagination; I'm not uploading that again.

I went to a school lock-in last night and didn't get any sleep at all. I just woke up a while ago at about 5:30 PM. It was actually fun. We played medical tape dodgeball, watched Sin City and stole food from other people. I couldn't sleep so I stayed up and played Madden '06 with my friend. Good times, good times.

EDIT: I'm now about to go see the Exorcism of Emily Rose, has anyone else seen it? Is it worth watching?
Xiu Xiu was phenomenal.
Xui Xui is bad.

italic zero 09-10-2005 05:25 PM

I like La Foret a lot.

el doctor 09-10-2005 05:36 PM

I can't picture myself at a Xiu Xiu show. Jamie Stewart scares me.

biografiend 09-10-2005 06:13 PM

I went to Charleston last night to go see So Many Dynamos play in this one college kid's basement, and then stayed at our friends apartment there. It was insanely good; but some dumbass college whores were grinding/being drunken sluts everywhere, it was seriously at least 100 degrees with 50 people dancing in a smallass basement and I was the most sweatiest I had ever been, but it was amazing.

I was also drug into a moshpit somehow, bit some drunk guy because he shoved his elbow in my face, and rescued by a lovely boy.

That's what it was like at the ska show. It was like a moshpit, but people were moshing/skanking at the same time. Amazingly fun.

Sorry to hear about the drunken sluts.

6Stringer 09-10-2005 07:55 PM

I just watched the Exorcism of Emily Rose and... whatever you do, do not go see it. It sucked big, black, hairy nuts. Acting was stale and not good. It was just like the Exorcist except with more Hollywood magic put into it.

6Stringer's rating * out of *****

The album is one year old

Anyway, I now have ImageReady, but all I can do so far is resize the tiny little Dr. Mario bug into something more avatar-worthy. I must ask Zappa for tips along the way

Glitterati 09-10-2005 09:09 PM

I got a whack of rep for one of my comments in the "Music industry sayings" thread. Now I'm up to 176 points

italic zero 09-10-2005 09:18 PM

Haha. The only rep I've ever gotten was from The Tway, for saying I liked Kelly Clarkson,.

yapper1200 09-10-2005 10:35 PM

why would you guys be talking about kelly clarkson? do you consider her alt/indie?

Yeah. Miss Independent gave me +588 indie cred points back in the day.

Zmev 09-10-2005 11:56 PM

I have 159.

And I think the listening party is tomorrow.

Luxor 09-11-2005 12:29 AM

Anyone else getting this shitty Jamba! pop-up everytime they log onto mx? Even through their firewall/pop-up blocker...
