Haha, it's hard

Haterade is apparently FIERCE and also NEW & BOLD
because having a bigger picture beside our names is such a huge deal. 99% of the people who had/have them are good users anyway. gav gave me one because i've uploaded like 3 albums for him.

but whatever, p00p on the party if you feel like it.
I don't disrespect any of you as users, but if people who don't win contests get them then there's no reason all kinds of other people get them and then it starts smacking of favoritism. It's just better if the rule is contest winners only

I say mods start handing out rep instead of big avatars if someone's cool by them or helps them out with music or something

"North Korea stoked regional tensions Wednesday, threatening more nuclear tests and saying additional sanctions imposed on it would be considered an act of war....

Further pressure will be countered with physical retaliation, the North's Foreign Ministry warned in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

'If the U.S. keeps pestering us and increases pressure, we will regard it as a declaration of war and will take a series of physical corresponding measures,'"

south korea and australia have their troops preparing for nuclear warfare, and japan has imposed new sanctions on north korea and closed its ports to north korean vessels.

srt-4 10-11-2006 01:46 PM

shamrock got his *** kicked again.

Matt? 10-11-2006 03:07 PM

north korea is seriously threatening to declare war on us...

all we really need is to make sure china is in check. as long as china is on our side, and japan keeps it's cool then this doesn't seem like it should pose a problem.

and if japan doesn't cool down they possibly will be owned again

Matt? 10-11-2006 03:12 PM

ps. what does rep do?

i remember the stars. but what now...

srt-4 10-11-2006 03:27 PM

well, we don't want them to nuke south korea or japan, which is what would happen if they went to war with "us". you seem to think japan is hostile towards us. its the opposite. japan, along with britain, is pretty much the most solid ally we have in the world.

basically, north korea and china are allies. japan and the US are allies. south korea is an ally of the US and japan somewhat, but it doesn't want to take too hard of a line with its "brother" in the north most of the time, and it fears japan's power due to the history between the two nations. so it isn't too reliable.

who knows what china would do. china's leadership doesn't even know what they would do. they are pissed at north korea for doing this, not because they fear north korea having the bomb, but because it will probably mean a japanese military buildup as a response to north korea having the bomb. china and japan are rivals for regional hegemony. so a japanese military buildup is the last thing that china wants, so therefore china doesn't want north korea to have nukes. but if it came to military action against north korea, who knows what china would do. at best they would sit it out. at worst they could fight against us like they did the last time the US fought north korea.

whiteminority 10-11-2006 03:33 PM

God damn the world pisses me off.

Matt? 10-11-2006 03:38 PM

no japan is definitely our allie in this situation, i meant keep it's cool in response to these nuke testings. don't push n. korea farther than they need to be pushed

china truely is key to keeping this pretty smooth

bottlerocket 10-11-2006 03:56 PM

Seriously, if not nuclear war, global warming will kill us.

We're wiped out in 10 years, tops.

Something about a great war.. or something..
I have to brush up on it, but you're probably right Gav.

It wasn't Nostradmus, it was the Mayans who predicted a change on 12/21/12 because of the way their calendar worked
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayan_Calendar#2012

And China won't ally with us, but they won't let N.Kora nuke us either, their exports to the US is a bring part of their economy.

srt-4 10-11-2006 05:25 PM

well, apparently they have very little control over north korea, so i don't think that will help. but, ya, as far relations between china and the US go, economic interdpendence is definitely a moderating influence.

google bought youtube. "Google said it could insert ads inside the videos as well as serve up text-based ads based on a more robust video search function on YouTube." that sucks.

China supplies North Korea with the majority of it's fuel, among other things. China has tremendous control over North Korea.

I think it's good for YouTube. They can afford to compress their videos less with advertising money. If the ads are just at the beginning or end, big deal. We live in a capitalist society, that's how things work

first statement is true, second is false.

china tried to hold north korea back from going nuclear. north korea went nuclear anyway. therefore, china obviously doesn't have tremedous control over north korea.

srt-4 10-11-2006 06:05 PM

haha

cbmartinez 10-11-2006 09:14 PM
north korea couldn't nuke the US because they don't have the missiles to reach us yet. you have the situation backwards. the US has had an aegis destroyer presence in the sea of japan for over a year now, in the hopes that it would be able to shoot down a ballistic missile headed for japan. japan is, and has been since world war II, militarilly depedent on the US.

and a worry for some is that if japan changes this situation by building up its military and going nuclear, which it could do very fast, that it would lead to an arms race with china and regional destabilization.
Right, I thought that went without saying. Korea has been trying forever to get missiles to get across the Pacific. But I'm pretty sure Japan has enough of a military defense system and enough of a lucrative economic system with the US to shoot it out of the sky.

As much as I hate to say it because I'm a defender of moral diplomacy, I think we should do something along the lines of an Iran-Contra plan to instill rebellion in North Korea. Cause Kim is the problem. It would be very hard and risky, but I think it could be possible. I'm not exactly sure of what the people in Korea think of Kim but I know that these Japanese sanctions are gonna complicate things when Koreans start to feel an economic squeeze.

whiteminority 10-11-2006 09:17 PM

This would obviously never work because of the political fiasco that would occur but someone should just fucking assassinate Kim. Make the world a better place. If it would look like NK had the ability to make that bomb an ICBM I will become really worried.

cbmartinez 10-11-2006 09:19 PM

Oh yeah, yet their would be no political fiasco when there was a straight up assassination? A well planned out funding of a rebellion (there's no way the fucking Bush Administration could do this) would work better.

whiteminority 10-11-2006 09:23 PM

No, I was referring to my idea. Not yours. I don't know much about the Iran-Contra program except it supposedly blew up in the government's face a few years later.

cbmartinez 10-11-2006 09:30 PM

Cause Reagan was an idiot. And couldn't cover his tracks well enough. It's plausible. Plus, we screwed ourselves over in the end because now we are blamin Iran for ****.

Nobody could do it because North Korea's people would never rebel against their regime

cbmartinez 10-11-2006 09:32 PM

Yeah, I mentioned in the post before I didn't know the extent of the rule over there (I know it's pretty bad) and if you could instill rebellion. There's always a faction though. We'll create the NKLO= North Korean Liberation Organization :D

It'll be a bunch of white guys

Matt? 10-11-2006 09:32 PM

i definitely don't know about the standpoint of N Korean citizens on their government, but just judging how S Korea has kind of prospered in a way after the Korean War, kinda left N Korea in the dust. Korea was ruined by cold war tensions.

S Korea needs to get some korean democratic nationalism going on, make themselves look good. thing going on. this is what condi dreams of.

ps. reagan was buried in skywalker ranch

whiteminority 10-11-2006 09:34 PM
Nobody could do it because North Korea's people would never rebel against their regime
Only because they are under the reign of fear, if you think that the North Korean population is happy having one of the lowest standards of living on the planet (if not the lowest, I can't remember anymore, I'm not a politics nerd anymore =P) then think again.

SubtleDagger 10-11-2006 09:35 PM

I mean that a rebellion would never work because NK has the largest percentage of militarized citizens in the world

Most of the rest are poor or brainwashed
