hismajestythepope 03-30-2009 05:43 PM

The Falling Upstairs EP is pretty tight, imho.

yes their older stuff is good but they're not good anymore

/typical opinion around here

Who knows of any metalcore bands who play songs in major??

Example: 'Aspiration' by After The Burial

BridgeToSolace 03-30-2009 10:19 PM

I really doubt that Aspiration is only in one key.

This is unrelated, but if anyone is looking for something recent and very solid (not exceptionally, but definitely good), check out Conducting From The Grave.

http://www.myspace.com/conductingfromthegrave

(the first song there starts out really generic and lame, but gets better)

It's like August Burns Red with a little more creativity and less breakdowns.

The Feeding 03-30-2009 10:20 PM

conducting from the grave are pretty sick, i must agree

listen to Rosesdead

not just because of this, but also because theyre the best metalcore band ever

also, It Prevails plays in major a lot too. and fordirelifesake and also, i think, Life In Your Way

adb 03-30-2009 11:10 PM

listening to old Still Remains for the first time in like a year

shits good

Rosesdead is a an inferior Misery Signals clone.

They're album isn't bad, but I've been listening to Of Malice... for years and it still gives me goosebumps.

Tyler 03-31-2009 01:31 AM

Rosesdead came out around the same time as Misery Signals so I'm not sure how you could say they're clones, especially when Rosesdead was already really well known in Ontario and Misery Signals had yet to put out an album.

DBlitz 03-31-2009 01:40 AM

gonna give them a listen either way

Tyler 03-31-2009 01:40 AM

they're decent, one of my "guilty pleasures" in that they're pretty standard but they do it well. they used to be terrible though, it was only after they pilfered fordirelifesake's vocalist that they got decent

DBlitz 03-31-2009 01:49 AM

okay

so Stages is the album to get?

Tyler 03-31-2009 01:50 AM

yea

hismajestythepope 03-31-2009 02:04 AM

And then you take into account that Misery Signals and Rosesdead don't even sound alike...

Also, I don't care what anyone says, Stages is ****ing awesome.

Tyler 03-31-2009 02:04 AM

but then you're just pulling at straws man

hismajestythepope 03-31-2009 02:06 AM

I'm only familiar with Stages, is their older stuff more MS/7A7P style than that album, or are you just ****ing around?

Also, downloading an album by Sullivan (ex-This Runs Through, after Spencer joined Underoath).

I'm hoping this'll be good.

Aaron 03-31-2009 02:07 AM

Am I the only one who enjoys Bleeding Through? They're not groundbreaking, but they tick the right boxes for me as a live metalcore act.

Tyler 03-31-2009 02:07 AM

nah their older stuff was a lot more scene-ier from what i remember, there wasn't much metal at all. it was more like the rest of the trendy post-hardcore garbage that comes out of ontario than anything

hismajestythepope 03-31-2009 02:08 AM

I honestly think that band just flat out sucks, no offense.

None taken broseph; you're welcome to have and state any opinion. Have you had a chance to see them live? Live they're pretty tight as a unit.

Tyler 03-31-2009 02:13 AM

that's what she said

about balls

Aaron 03-31-2009 02:17 AM

Tight-balls? lol wut.

hismajestythepope 03-31-2009 02:19 AM

Everyone says they're really good live, but idk if I'd care enough to want to see them live.

Evergreen Terrace puts on a good show, but I still got so bored I walked out all three times I saw them.

So not Misery Signals-ish?

adb 03-31-2009 02:20 AM

Cocaine's been on a roll today w/ the double entendres

Aaron 03-31-2009 02:20 AM

I've not understood the appeal of Misery Signals? I've heard people rave but they don't grab my attention. Any tracks in particular I've missed and need to check out?

Tyler 03-31-2009 02:23 AM
So not Misery Signals-ish?
nope not at all
I've not understood the appeal of Misery Signals?
they're boring what's not to love

hismajestythepope 03-31-2009 02:25 AM

They have awesome guitarwork and vocals.
