I like the Powerslave cover or that Killers pic you've got as your avatar.

GurS 09-27-2004 10:01 AM

Powerslave, SIT and Seventh son all have great covers. I also really like the one from No Prayer with Eddie about to kill the dude, and he's got metal claws.

My favourite picture, though, is the band staring at a cooked brain in Piece of Mind

Thunder Fingers 09-27-2004 11:35 AM

Killers and The Trooper eddie is my two favortites..

Lord Abortion 09-27-2004 01:26 PM
Not Nickos Live version.
thanks, should have made it clear the version I meant, sorry !

ashman 09-27-2004 01:49 PM

Fave Eddy, would have to be: SSOASS (well the animation when he pulls that baby type thing out himself, or SIT, Powerslave...so many...can't choose

rik 09-27-2004 01:52 PM
Ok I must know. What is your favorite Iron Maiden drawing/picture. Mine would either be the One with Ed holding
the Devils head, The trooper of course, or the Run to the Hills one.
I like killers and that one on "a real live one".

GurS 09-27-2004 01:58 PM

raising hell is cool too

YDload 09-27-2004 02:10 PM
My favourite picture, though, is the band staring at a cooked brain in Piece of Mind
GurS 09-27-2004 02:19 PM

Facsimile 09-28-2004 06:18 AM

My favourite cover art is Live After Death. He just looks so **** powerful there.

shadow_stalker 09-28-2004 08:13 AM

Burning inside 09-28-2004 09:26 AM

I like the picture on the Visions of the Beast DVD. I just looks so evil and cool.

Metalheadsrus 09-28-2004 10:02 AM

well i think number of the beast is the best cos... well its just so awsome, so is best of the beast!

GurS 09-28-2004 11:06 AM

notb is cool

and this thread = dying :(

ashman 09-28-2004 12:26 PM

Hmm...must think of a way to ressurect the thread...hmm...hows about, What was the first Maiden song you learnt to play all the way through?

Mine was The Trooper, such a great song and easy to play, but the gallop rhythm is hard to perfect, I'm still trying to get it to sound perfect...

GurS 09-28-2004 12:36 PM

i think the thread went downhill with all the "what maiden can you play"?

i'll ask a different question:

What shows of dianno's talent better? STA or Killers?

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 09-28-2004 01:25 PM

I Like Dianno's voice in Remember Tommorow but in general, I think his voice was better in Killers.

i think it was 'Iron Maiden' on the ST on bass for me, im going to learn Strange world next on guitar, thats one of my faves from the Di anno period, such a beautiful song

Burning inside 09-28-2004 02:48 PM

Who do you think sings Afraid to Shoot Strangers?

Blaze or Dickinson?

GurS 09-28-2004 03:15 PM

bruce sang it originally. i think you mean, who sings it better

Burning inside 09-28-2004 03:20 PM

Basically ............................ yeah.

Iron Maiden Rules

s0ldsoul4roknrol 09-28-2004 06:35 PM

But seriously, can anyone reccomend which Iron Maiden album to buy first?

GurS 09-29-2004 12:34 AM

lol

Number of the beast, my good man, best introduction to maiden there is. After that, get Powerslave, and from there i'd say either go for seventh son, one of the di'annos or one of the two newest ones

ashman 09-29-2004 10:29 AM

How many times has that question been asked? like a trillion..

GurS 09-29-2004 11:37 AM

so's your's, ash :p

Thunder Fingers 09-29-2004 11:54 AM

Firecracker 09-29-2004 11:59 AM

GurS 09-29-2004 12:04 PM

yeh, eddie, you're right :(

WE DEMAND FRAIL

GreatCornholio 09-29-2004 12:32 PM

I've started listening to maiden a lot recently, their 2 albums i have are powerslave, and the best of. but they're really the only metal band i listen to. What other bands do ya think are similar to maiden (powermetal i think its called) and are worth listening to?
cheers.

GurS 09-29-2004 12:35 PM

Powermetal is like In Flames (moot)

Maiden are NWOBHM, New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

so i suggest checking out other NWOBHM bands, such as sampson (bruce's old band) and judas priest. you may want to check out Paul Di'Anno and the Killers, too

Thunder Fingers 09-29-2004 01:10 PM

if the guy wants power metal: Stratovarius are masters there.

Judas priest is nothing like maiden(Maiden is SOOOOO much better)... and bruces band was called samson...

rik 09-29-2004 01:15 PM

Has anyone heard janicks old band "white spirit" (I think, can't remember). They any good?

Shady Ultima 09-29-2004 01:27 PM

I just picked up Iron Maiden, and Piece of Mind, both are amazing albums. I really like Paul's voice, this being the first I heard from him, it's not better than Bruce, but it's kinda interesting. I love Remember Tomorrow, especially when he hold "SKY" so long and high. And The Trooper is the best Iron Maiden song ever.

FrailandBedazzled1979 09-29-2004 02:17 PM

Stratovarius and Blind Guardian are the two easiest to get into, and still my favourites....you know im a power metal fiend!!!

YDload 09-29-2004 02:19 PM

What were those Iron Maiden songs that best exemplified "power metal" again? I saw the question answered before when I didn't have as many albums, but now I think I've got more examples in my personal collection again (like Flash of the Blade?).

ed hunter 09-29-2004 02:21 PM

does anybody else find the older a maiden album is the more you like it? by older i mean the longer you have owned it. because powerslave is by far my newest maiden album and its the 1 i dont like as much they always seem to take me a while to get into, peice of mind and dance of death did as well has any body else found that (i love peice of mind and dance of death as much as any other dont get me wrong)

FrailandBedazzled1979 09-29-2004 02:22 PM

umm in some ways a few songs do, like "heaven can wait" with the up-lifting chorus, and "sun and steel" is like an old old style power metal song with its chorus as well. The into to "the prophecy" is as well id say, overall they have the lyrical themes for power metal but the musically they dont play power metal.
