I didn't want to make a new thread because it'd be naughty, but check this video out.

I'm going to have to hurt you for making me endure that ...

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 05:32 AM

thank god, from that reaction, i'm assuming my choice to not watch was a good one

snoop-au 07-15-2006 05:34 AM

it's an interesting bass design - and he's obviously been practicing something; probably not his bass though - possibly just drumming fingers on the bench really really fast. That sounded awful.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 05:37 AM

gee, that really gets me pumped and ready to watch...

it does actually, im gonna watch it

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 05:40 AM

what the fuck was that?

that was the biggest crock of shit i've ever had the displeasure of witnessing

Jamie 07-15-2006 05:50 AM

Yep... I apologise.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 05:53 AM

some old guy on a fucking weird looking bass randomly hammering shit is not music :smoke:

snoop-au 07-15-2006 06:00 AM

Oh, that's only because your ear is not trained to enjoy the intricate beauty of such superhuman talent ...

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:07 AM

my girlfriend just got a new electric violin, its super sexy

Jamie 07-15-2006 06:13 AM

Nice! :D You got pics? I've never seen one before..

So will it work through your bass amp?

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:17 AM

i have got pics, well, just one and its a bit meh, but ill have it up in a tick.

and yeah it will, apparantly for practise you're supposed to use a bass amp  but live, straight into the PA, she's got a 35 watt ibanez acoustic amp

edit: woah!!! 2500 AAHHAHA *goes crazy*

Thonk 07-15-2006 06:18 AM

Threads with responses like that make me hate the guitar forum.

da_s_man13 07-15-2006 06:23 AM

Jamie, the video was posted like a month ago. Everyone has seen it.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:23 AM

That's damn near impossible to read/distinguish.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:29 AM

good rats 07-15-2006 06:30 AM

That gig was fun!

And I got heaps of free beer.

Go me!

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:32 AM

 shutup you, im talking about e.violins

anyway, good time?
yes?
good, pics? cmon cough up where are they?! i wanna see blastoise playing drums

Criss Frantic 07-15-2006 06:34 AM

Ok guys, when i play sustained single notes on any string, on any fret higher than the 12th, i get that wawawawawawa sounding note that you usualy associate with being out of tune. Does this mean my intonation is out, and how do i fix it?

good rats 07-15-2006 06:36 AM

Ahah.

Yea it was a great time.
I only played two songs, and everyone kept shouting me beers, and it was just a good time. :D

Oh and hopefully someone took pictures. We'll see..

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:38 AM

lucky you :thumb:

and criss, it means you can't play the instrument, that's its way of saying "you suuUUuuUUuuUUck" :p

i dunno, maybe your action's just to low

Criss Frantic 07-15-2006 06:39 AM

It almost sounds as if i've got a chorus effect on it, with a little bit of detuning thrown in. It's freaking me out.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:41 AM

grab a tuner and check you're intonation

good rats 07-15-2006 06:44 AM

Aha, so apparently I'm now playing guitar in a ska band and I don't have a guitar or amp.

I could probably get an amp easy enough, but I need a guitar. ****!

Criss Frantic 07-15-2006 06:48 AM

If the intonation is out, how do i fix it? I'm a total techincal nub.

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:48 AM

i dunno, isn't ska more of brock's genre?

/stops lame as **** pokemon jokes

adjust the string length at the bridge by moving the saddles

Thonk 07-15-2006 06:51 AM

The 12th fret harmonic should be in tune with the 12th fretted note.

You have to adjust the screws on the back end of the bridge accordingly. I can't think of which way to turn to make the note sharper/flatter atm. Give me a minute. :p

funkyhoney 07-15-2006 06:52 AM

open string with the 12th fret also :smash:

ebe9 07-15-2006 06:53 AM

I hate adjusting intonation from scratch...........so bloody time consuming and I insist on getting it 100% perfect

Criss Frantic 07-15-2006 06:53 AM

Yeah that's it. I learnt how to do it aaaaaaaages ago on the old Zebra, but i haven't needed to adjust the Ray until now.

Thonk 07-15-2006 06:54 AM

I'm going to make some breakfast or someting.
