Yeah one of my friends has 7 brothers and 2 sisters, god thats not a family thats a litter.

blue3 04-14-2005 08:57 PM
You guys are lucky u live in small families, i am the oldest of 5, i get along with all of them pretty well, except for the middle one, he's 10 and he tries to emulate me, as in lisening to the same music as me (he listens to slayer and death, when most of his friends listen to greenday), but i guess thats a good thing, and i dunno, he just irritatates the hell out of me...
I have a 10 year old sibling too. It's better that your brother listens to Slayer.. cause my sister plays Ashlee Simpson music non-stop. It's annoying

Kurtz 04-14-2005 08:59 PM

I don't really like my brother, but it's nothing bad. He's just unbelievably annoying, nosy as hell, and he's a bit dependent.

Not a bad brother at all though.

Earache 04-14-2005 09:01 PM
I have a 10 year old sibling too. It's better that your brother listens to Slayer.. cause my sister plays Ashlee Simpson music non-stop. Earache 04-14-2005 09:09 PM

blue3, i kno how u feel too, my 8 yr old sister loves friggin' britany spears, but thank god she doesn't have a stereo, she thinks brittany spears has more talent than all of my fav. bands combined, shes sort of annoying too, cuz she gets reality mixed up with fantasy, she told me last yr that she would love to trade me in for a cat (this is kind of wierd cuz im nice to her, im not an a$$ hole to her), she thinks that unicorns, and all that fairy tale crap is real... its really quite scary.... i think its cuz my 10 yr old bro always makes fun of her :(

Illmatic 04-14-2005 09:10 PM

She's 8 years old man, stfu.

Is he older or younger than you?

And I do have the new Fantomas by the way (in case you don't read back through what you've missed in this thread).

pigonthewing82 04-14-2005 09:14 PM

The only problem with my sister is she LOVES emo. Though it is fun to make fun of her for it.

Earache 04-14-2005 09:14 PM
She's 8 years old man, stfu
calm down dude, i realise that, i'm just statin' the facts, i'm not trying to sound mean... it just really wierd the phases kids go through

Illmatic 04-14-2005 09:17 PM

I know, but she's going to grow out of it.

If your sister actually likes emo, then she's awesome. I'd say chances are you mean Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, etc, though?

Yeah, well I wish I saw it that way, I really don't like emo, but thats just my opinion. I don't tell her to shut it off or anything, even if I'm in the same room when she is blasting it, I just don't like emo. Though we have very open minds to each other's music. I've even caught her taking some of my Jimi Hendrix cds.

He older, 16 years old.

Is it worth getting?

Well, alright..I was trying to find out whether she listens to actual emo, though. Rather than bands like those I listed up there.

Illmatic 04-14-2005 09:32 PM

Also, anyone with a younger sister: Eventually, you will get protective of her. I get protective of my younger cousin. I only have three cousins younger than I am (my mom and dad were both the youngest in their families, so I'm one of the youngins in the family) and one of them is a high school senior and dating a college guy. I was pretty wary of him at first.

Thing is, those aren't really emo bands.

Bartender 04-14-2005 09:34 PM
He older, 16 years old.
Ah, okay. I've always kinda wondered what older siblings would be like..I was good friends with my friend (with the six brothers) older brothers though, so maybe it wouldn't have been so different.
Is it worth getting?
If you liked their previous albums, yes. It's the closest they've really come so far to repeating themselves though; it's quite similar to the first album (30 tracks of spastic grind/metal), but with a huge influence from cartoon music. And the packaging kicks ass.

Bartender 04-14-2005 09:36 PM
Oh I see, yeah its the bands you listed up there she listens to........theres another kind?
Well the bands I listed there aren't really emo. They're just pop-punk (Taking Back Sunday) or general alt/indie type stuff (Dashboard Confessional) or whatever that is often mislabelled as emo. Emo is a subgenre of hardcore (emotional hardcore), and it's a lot more aggressive than the kind of bands that get called emo too often nowadays :)

Bartender 04-14-2005 09:40 PM

I'm not so sure..my younger sister started dating a guy older than me a while ago, and it never bothered me. I mean, I'm protective of her in that if something bad's happening, I'll beat it up until it stops, but I'm not on a kind of constant look-out :)

Illmatic 04-14-2005 09:41 PM

Then you're a far better man than I am.

But in all fairness, the guy turned out to be pretty cool, so I've backed off.

pigonthewing82 04-14-2005 09:41 PM

Oh well those are just some of them, others are My Cemical Romance, Hawthorn Hights, Brand New, and others I don't know the name of.

I'm not an expert in naming that kind of music, it isn't exactly my style.

blue3 04-14-2005 09:43 PM

I didn't think My Chemical Romance was emo..

Well yeah, the guy mine's with is cool too, which undoubtedly helped me to not mind.

pigonthewing82 04-14-2005 09:46 PM

Eh well I have no trouble admiting that I'm musically ignorant to Pop Punk and Emo......I don't know if thats a bad thing though.

From a classic rock fan point of veiw, its fine if you like that kind of music.

They aren't emo either, yeah. If I was at University, I'd upload some stuff by emo bands so you could compare and see the difference, but unfortunately I'm not :( Maybe you could remind me on Sunday (or later), when I'ld be able to?

Until then, go have a look at this forum, and specifically what is now the Emo/Screamo Community thread (up until a couple of hundred posts ago, it was an education thread). Should give you an idea :)

EDIT: I hope you don't take this as me having a go :-/ Just trying to help.

I love having a day off of work. It gives me a lot more time to play guitar.

It still gets kind weird...I mean, I know how most college guys are. I'm not about to completely rule out the fact that he is cheating on my cousin.

Thanks for the links and stuff man, but eh unless the emo band has the endless guitar solos and reble lyrics I look for in bands then I have a feeling I won't like it that much.

Though thanks for trying to make me less ignorant to music today, and not being a dick when I put those bands under the wrong genre, I don't really know much about today's mainstream music at all, I'm more of an underground man myself for modern day music.

EDIT: eh, I'll read about it in those threads, and if it appeals to me I'll ask for the links sunday :)

I don't know what I would do with out my Wah. I use it more then distortion somtimes, though I do a lot of non distiortion blues jamming so.
