It's half one in the morning and I just finished a Chemistry coursework :(
Sleepy time for me. |
This is kind of odd...
Might want to be on the safe side and 'log out' before visiting tho. http://lostspirits.net/f10p1-the-jam-session.htm |
i just witnessed a man lip-up 19 halfsteps on a piccilo trumpet. Then proceed to play "America The Beautiful" on one breath without circulatory breathing at 96bmp(about 45secs)
I say again: I have seen my god |
is that even possible?
the lipups, I mean. never played a piccolo trumpet, but wouldn't you need something more along the lines of a french horn to do that? |
Sup all?
|
is that even possible?
the lipups, I mean. never played a piccolo trumpet, but wouldn't you need something more along the lines of a french horn to do that?
Is basically like you lip up from one partial so far that it becomes an equivalent note to the next partial and you lip slur seemlessly. repeat. It's a benny goodman song and I've also watched a video of someone do this on a rotary trumpet. They = |
oh ya and some people use the assistance of a tuning slide, but they are wimps. lol.
|
Tuning slides are okay for trombones though... aren't they?
Man, holidays suck. From the perspective that my parents always manage to find some issue they want resolved and ban me from friends/guitar/computer until it has been worked out. This time it's about me not being able to hang out with a good mate of mine any more because of one crass blog entry they stumbled across. /is down at the moment... again. |
lol sounds like im not the only one whose hating the holidays, don't they just give you the sh'its some times
|

Since I've sort of started posting on this board I might as well introduce myself a bit... I'm Mispeled, I play guitar (as a hobby) and French horn (in three ensambles). I also know how to play piano (I took lessons when I was a little kid for around 4 or 5 years). Not in any bands at the moment.
I play both acoustic and electric guitar (though lately mostly electric), and play some rock and some smooth jazz and jazz fusion. My rig consists of a 1980s (maybe 70s, not sure) Epiphone Olympic into a Peavey 150 Special, the effects I use primarily are a Zoom 503 Amp Simulator and Boss GE-7 EQ pedal. For recording I go from my guitar into the Zoom 503 into my Mac, where I use Apple's Garageband for mixing, synthesized back-up instrumentation, and some effects that my Zoom doesn't have (bitcrusher, stereo tremelo, stereo reverb, and a few other things). |
Hey this is kinda of topic but i need help mm kinda trying to find an audio recording program that can change up a voice a little like make it sound smoother and clearer than an original voice because i play acoustic and sing and im not too great of a singer i dont know stuff about notes i kinda cant afford vocal lessons yet(jobless) so im just trying to find something to make it sound better thru software any help?
|
I don't know if there are any death metal fans in here or anything, but My band kinda needs some feedback on two songs from our demo, and a new instrumental from our upcoming album.... if anybody cares to check it out, it's at http://www.myspace.com/forthisibleed ........any advice or suggestions would be appreciated......we've had some mixed criticism and are looking for specific feedback, esp. on the vocals.......

i hate people who spam.(read the location)(lol)
|
hello, mispeled.
|
Wooh! I've finished the recordings, up until the point where the vocalist decides he wants me to change something.
http://www.myspace.com/internalcorpseattack Hey Mispeled, welcome to the forum :thumb: |
Hello everybody! I didn't want to make an entire thread just for this one question, so I'm asking here:
Would a Peavey Escort (portable PA system) be suitable to use as a monitor speaker system for mixing and mastering my home recordings? I'm using a Tascam analog 8-track Portastudio, and I'm not focused on everything sounding perfectly clean and professional....I just want to be able to mix my amateur recordings and have them sound the way I intend. I just don't want to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on professional quality monitors if my Peavey PA system will do the job at least half-decently. Once again, I'm not aiming for totally professional sound. peavey.com shows the specs and all that on the Escort, just in case that makes a difference. Thanks in advance. |

Mixing - yes, but with very limited results... probably only slightly better than hifi speakers Mastering - don't even go there. |
Hi all, I'm a web designer from Australia - I have been playing trombone for 12 years, and been doing a bit of singing on the side too... I'm 20 years old and am currently studying a degree in IT.
I just signed up here so I can't post a thread yet, but i was wondering if you guys could tell me what you think of the little jam [external link] I made and placed there. It's a bit of (weird) beat boxing, some semi-scat singing and improv, a bit of a trom bass line, and a trom improv solo. I'd really like it if you could tell me what you think it's lacking (I THINK I know what's wrong with it...). It'd be interesting if you could give me some advice. I'm planning to do something later, but this is my first try with Cool edit pro and also the first time I've actually used the multitrack feature properly! I must say though that the interface was quite intuitive so it took me next to no time - only time taken up in recording and editing. It's actually not meant to be serious at all, being a first try and all, so please be gentle! |
Big night last night fellas.
Left home at 6pm and got back at 7:30am! |
Hi all, I'm a web designer from Australia
Ahh cool. Another one. Well. I don't design. I do a little designing, but not really. I mostly just take what has already been designed and piece it together for a web platform. A very fun job. Hello. |
Aw Chris I thought you'd be proud of me :(.
|
It's a nice feeling getting home when the sun comes up. For sure.
But I'll be proud when your big nights go on to turn into big days as well. |
Hahaha, I accept your challenge.

I hate to be a bother, but could you (or anyone) explain how exactly do I listen to your song? I clicked the link, downloaded the song, played the song, but I got no noise. My speakers work fine as I've been listening to music all night, but I've never used that site that you linked to and maybe there's something I don't know about. Your song sounds interesting by your description so I really do wish I could hear it! edit - On further inspection, something might be messed up with the volume control or speakers on my comp. Don't mind me. |
Well done Gav. No strange outfit this time?
Ahh cool. Another one.
Haha, beauty. And another trombonist! How's it going Zackr? What state are you in? So AYB has been invited to play at the farewell to the Games parade, and all the other stuff went awesomely. Well, except for my dad and my friend's (the one who I was talking about earlier in the week - who they were banning me from) dad confronting each other with his dad almost looking as though he was going to hit mine - me sees this right as I'm heading out to perform at Fed Square. Ah well. Just found out we're also doing on-court entertainment at the Davis Cup too! Haha, I have no idea where my holidays went. |
Well done Gav. No strange outfit this time?
Nah :(. 'Cause it was an actual party as opposed to me just being woken up by my bro/friends :p. I was wearing jeans, my fav shirt and my friend's jacket. I'll type up about it a bit later. |
I'm goin' well thanks. I'm from Victoria, so yeah. Sounds like you are too if you're doing the Games thingo. I was going to be in two bands I think but I decided it was too much of a commitment...
|
Yeah, I am :).
Fair enough. Man, the entertainment for the games has been sweet. I missed the 1812 last night (with cannons!) because of this maths course I'm going to :(. We saw an awesome Latin band though, and I had Subway so I can't complain. It's like this massive 24/7 party in the city at the moment. /waits for Gav's story |
Alright, just for you Trea :-*.
So there was this party up in Kallista (:gah: ) thrown by a friend of mine from school and it was talked up to be pretty big. So the plan was to catch the train up to Belgrave station and then catch a bus from Belgrave to Kallista and then walk from the bus stop to this dude's house (yes he does that before and after school everyday), then afterwards to catch a taxi all the way home with three friends. So we get up to his place at about 7:15 and it's relatively mundane at that time.. only myself, Mitch, Chris, Rory, Matt, Tom, Dave, Tom and Ally (mass bukkake). So I take a seat around the fire and start chatting away to all these people that I haven't seen in ages. Then more and more people started turning up and it started getting darker and darker so we turned the music on and someone brought a strobelight so we plugged that in and started dancing and stuff. Then there was some kafuffle regarding Mark and co. and their methods of arrival. It was dark and they got to Belgrave station and didn't know where to go from there so I had to get two taxis for them and stuff (the taxi lady was mean to me :(). Anyway they got up there eventually and stuff blah blah. Then there was going to be what looked like a nice fun punch on (I like the idea of a punch on this far away from home because you don't have to worry about seeing the person again, let alone getting stabbed whilst walking down to Safeway :p), but that didn't happen in the end.. aw. Nothing else really happened at the party, just dancing and talking etc etc. Then at about 1am the host's old lady asked if we were staying and we said no so she asked if we could leave as soon as possible so we organised two taxis to take us to Belgrave station... we being myself, Scott, Jesse, Mark, Ben and Ruth. We got to Belgrave station at about 1:45am and just sat around drinking and stuff in one of the little sitting-room things (yes these are the things I love doing, shut up) and then this dude that lives at the station (!!!), came in and told us we were being too loud and that underage drinking in public is illegal (<_<) but he was really, really cool about it and just told us to move into a different sitting room that was 20 or so metres away. We sat there until maybe 3am or something when a security guard (different guy) came in and told us that the police come in for a routine check every morning so we should probably leave... which we did. We found a nice comfortable staircase that we spent the duration of the time until the first train sitting at and just chilling and stuff (and running around looking for places to buy food!), then at 4:30am we caught the very first train which took us to Ringwood (it's really scary how many people are up this early to go to work) and then to Nunawading where we went to Maccas (!!!) and had breaky haha. The large espresso and coke I had sure did wake me up (which was a silly idea in retrospect :p). We sat at Maccas seriously from like 4:50am until 6:15 (haha) when Mark, Ruth and I caught the train from Nunawading to Blackburn where we walked from the station to his place. Then at his place Mark/Ruth and I parted ways and I walked the remainder to my place. I got home at about 7:20am where I went to bed and couldn't get to sleep. /anti-climaxal story, sorry fellas |
Don't you have parents Gav? Or like a gaurdian? I'm not saying this to be mean but damn i wish i could do shiz like that. I usually just sneak out and wake up in a car with foggy windows and some girl i dont remember.
|
I went out at 9am yesterday mornign and got back at 6pm today
I went hiking :upset: Out of the 25 miles (and overnight camp) we did in the massive winds and freezing rains 130 metres above sea level (at one time), one of our team members decided that she couldn't go on with 2 miles left to the finish so we had to pull out:angry: Only 13 teams out of the 60 who registered managed to finish in time, and I came back with massive blisters, and yet that was one of the funnest weekends I've had in a long time. |

Did you get picked up because you had to pull out? Or did you walk back :p? At least you got 23 miles though, the vocalist in my band (honestly) has trouble getting to 6pm with no exercise before he starts feeling ill. <_< >_> |

Haha I have the coolest parents ever. They're not the total stoner type that just lets their kid do whatever they want and fail/get arrested/etc, but they're not the overly tight type either. They're a perfect mix! My mum doesn't mind that I go out like that because.. well.. you should see my friends hahaha (...and me... >_>). |

^^ Audio Arena Mx is doing an 'experiment' which basicly means we're probably going to get an increased flow of 'rate my demo' threads. |
