Yes, Akerfeldt is the man.
|
I post on those boards, Mikael himself even posts on those boards, not often, but he does. He has a sense of humour you know? I mean, he laughs at himself and the band etc. when he posts on the boards. an excerpt was something like......
"I thought it would have dawned on you by know that i am in fact christ reincarnate. My carpenting skills are very good too. I got tired of the single stringed instruments in jerusalem and when i was reborn in Stockholm Sweden, the whole death metal scene really took me. Also I like the very satanic lyrics, don't tell my father though, he might ground me." Somehting like that, can't remember and can't be bothered to find the real thing. But yes, it is a simple joke, another one is "face of melinda neath moustache hair" Take it as a joke and lighten up
lol, I know iknow, I was laughin, that too was a joke, just not as apparent as the others ;) |
Is anyone is love with the drums at the beginning of Bleak? It gets me everytime.
|
But on the Opeth forum everyone seems to love peter. Alot of people dont seem to like mikeal a lot.
|
Why doesn't anyone like Mikael?
|
Why doesn't anyone like Mikael?
I dont know I just use to see it when I zoomed across the boards. I think he is cool myself though. |
I've never had that impression and I usually check in there once a week... :-\
|
whoa what're you talking about? i love mikael lol, idk, peters allright, although peter usually ends up getting the backdrop guitar stuff, and mikaels the lead, obviously, but eh, idk, personally i love mikael... we should start an i love mikael akderfeldt thread :-P

Well, whoever doesnt like Akerfeldt obviously took no part in creating this site:

I love the drums, especially the tom rolls...it gets the song going perfectly. |

I find the drumming in "Funeral Portrait" pretty good. The interlude with those nasty evil acoustics have some awesome fills. It's a shame he had so much more to do in Deliverance, when the album's compositions weren't up to par. |

Are Opeth a satanic band, or was he just referring to death metal itself? |
Are Opeth a satanic band, or was he just referring to death metal itself?
He was just generalising, it's a joke and a common misconception that the music is satanic. That is what he was playing on. |

It's a shame he had so much more to do in Deliverance, when the album's compositions weren't up to par.
I guess we have different tastes, but I thought Deliverance was awesome compositionally. Wreath creates a depressing yet beautiful atmosphere with it's chord progressions and solos. Masters Apprentice is one of their famous songs that never goesn wrong. And By The Pain I see In Others is brilliant, especially the intro! Deliverance has some really nice moody riffs. I don't really see anything wrong with that album....it's amazing. |
Yeah, it seems to be a bit underapreciated here. The title track is amazing. Some of the tracks feel like they stretch out to be a little too long (Opeth, go figure!), but overall it's definetly not a BAD album.

That song is just amazing on Lamentations... *drools* |
I like the little classical sounding piece they play in that song.
|
That song is just amazing on Lamentations...
*drools*
And a second "oh my God yes!" |
It feels like I miss out on a lot all because I don't have a DVD player :upset:
Oh Lamentations, when will I see you? |
anyone know when opeth tickets are going on sale for the tsongas arena in Lowell?
|

DVD players are dirt cheap, go pick one up.

Anybody got any good Opeth concert bootlegs? I'd like to see something live from them... (besides the dvd, as I can't find it anywhere)

My computer sucks weiny so all I can hear is the song... :-\
Every once in a while the picture changes. I can hear my computer die. Edit: Is there a way to save this so it wouldn't have to be streaming in from the internet? |
Off topic, but oh well. Im wondering why alot of people don't seem to like ****ation very much?It has three of my favourite Opeth songs in Deliverance, A fair Judgment and Masters Apprentices on and the other songs are still pretty good. Why don't most people rate it very high?

that made no sense, ****ation has 3 of your favourite songs in deliverance? come again? they are two seperate deals, ****ation is a soft album, whereas deliverance is heavier and less complex than their other stuff. |
me= very tired. mistake. i meant to say deliverance.
|
me= very tired. mistake. i meant to say deliverance.
I love Deliverance, but I have to say overall it's not as complex or diverse as their other albums, which could be why some Opeth fans don't like it as well. My personal favorites are Blackwater Park and My Arms, Your Hearse. |
I love the album Deliverance!
I think it has to be Opeth's heaviest album. This is creepy...I've listened to this many times and it seems really acurate. At the end of By The Pain I See In Others, A recorded session of Akerfeldt is played backwards... "Htaed otni yaw eht dael Won resolc Peels rof gnol Gnivael dna Yawa gnidaf Tuohtiw Od Nac I Tahw Em Gniwohs Thgil Laerehte Raeppasid Dna Edaf Sruoloc Ecnart Gnihtoos" Read that backwards. |

I really can't get into MAYH... I don't know why. |
