Why?

Tyler 02-25-2008 05:00 PM

Because he listens to it in the car?

DJTeeLay 02-25-2008 05:16 PM

Oh, I thought he meant out of the case. XD

Never mind.

LOL. Someones a little slow...

DJTeeLay 02-25-2008 09:11 PM

Meh, I just skim over key words like "STEREO."

illpressureurhinges1 02-25-2008 09:50 PM

That's a good way to comprehend what the other person is saying...

DJTeeLay 02-25-2008 10:00 PM

Sounds like an idea.

FreeSmells 02-26-2008 02:21 PM

Has anyone seen them live?

Tyler 02-26-2008 03:12 PM

about 40 times, why?

illpressureurhinges1 02-26-2008 03:16 PM
about 40 times, why?
Lucky...
about 40 times, why?
I recently have had the urge to see them cuz I'm really liking Fortress. I was wondering if they were good live.

Benzilla 02-26-2008 06:15 PM

I've heard recordings of them live on Youtube (as well as having seen them last week), my evaluation is that they've gotten much better at playing their increasingly technical songs live from the early Kezia era to now.

Tyler 02-26-2008 06:16 PM

They're great live usually. Rody sometimes has some problems singing on key (sometimes he just yells if he cant hear his voice), but the band is usually really tight, especially Arif.

Josh D. 02-26-2008 06:31 PM

Small trivial question: was I the only one that thought his name was UH-REEF and not ARE-IF until I heard someone say it?

Probably. Most people think it's "air-if", including myself at first.

The easiest way to remember it is "r/f".

Cardboard Urinal 02-27-2008 07:53 AM

i would very much like to see them but to my knowledge there arent any tours planned in my part of the world :(

FreeSmells 02-27-2008 12:11 PM

Don't they usually tour with horrible bands too?

Dimmu Burger 02-27-2008 01:15 PM
Don't they usually tour with horrible bands too?
Yes they do. But it's not their fault that no bands compare to their elite mastery of metal.

True that. They are definitely at a level above most.

1. I probably talked to Rody like 10 minutes after that video was shot, I feel special.

2. Tim's take on beards is pretty funny, I think anywhere he goes his is probably the highest ranking beard in the beard hierarchy. I swear, when I stood next to him for a picture it snarled at me.

3. Is Arif really that much of a stoner or is this entire mushroom thing his way of keeping from actually answering questions about the lyrical content of the album?

Also, http://a425.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/12/l_2b576826726c4b33d7cb08565b92ab10.jpg. Rody doing what he does best.
. Is Arif really that much of a stoner or is this entire mushroom thing his way of keeping from actually answering questions about the lyrical content of the album?
He's not that bad really but his personality is kind of stoneresque in that he's always giggling and whatnot. He doesn't really smoke pot a lot, or do anything much but drink, but I know he'll smoke it if you got it. The mushroom thing is half-truths from what I gather. I've never known him to be too heavy into psychedelics but we're by no means BFFLZFZ so who knows.

James46n2 02-28-2008 01:08 AM

Yeah I haven't spoken to him that many times but when I have, I've figured there was a good possibility he was high... or he's just very very chilled and friendly all of the time, heh.

That being said, the last time I saw him he had just left the Bovine, quite drunk.

As for the whole mushrooms thing... I'm not sure what to make of what he said in that article. It's interesting, though. A lot of the Fortress lyrics go over my head, moreso than Kezia did. I kinda, sorta have a basic understanding of the Goddess stuff.. but I wondered if there was more to it. I mean, with Kezia, the guys said they didn't want to write a concept album just for the sake of it - it had to be personal. So, the whole album was really a metaphor for the death and rebirth or transformation of the band. I wondered if there was a broader thing going on with Fortress. Is the whole thing a metaphor for the history of mushrooms? I certainly didn't get that after reading the lyrics, ha. I think that would be cool, but maybe that was just some throwaway comment..

Tyler 02-28-2008 02:02 PM

I pretty much understand all the Fortress lyrics, and no, it's mnot a metaphor for that, hahaha

He'll smoke pot when Moe has it, ie: anytime he sees Moe, but like I said he's not really the guy to have pot himself.

Curious, but what went over your head?

DJTeeLay 02-28-2008 02:56 PM

I don't really get the lyrics.
They went from an anti-government punk band to this.

Wasn't Kezia a concept album about killing God, and Fortress is about killing a goddess or something?

Sorry, but I haven't really looked too much into their lyrics.

Tyler 02-28-2008 02:57 PM

Killing God? Killing a Goddess?

You really fail. The lyrics, especially on Fortress, are one of the best parts.

Crimson 02-28-2008 04:04 PM
Sorry, but I haven't really looked too much into their lyrics.
Well, that's why then, try reading them more than once briefly, how you can not get them is beyond me, it's not a concept album or anything of that sort, just stories really, and tales of history exaggerated.

Besides, some of the lines are simply the best I've ever heard in metal, 'Did you come here to kill or did you come here to die?', 'if a mortal stands against you strike him down with sleight of hand, and if the heavens stand against you then the gods themselves must be damned' etc...
