I disupute, Wish You Were Here is pretty damn awesome.

Riva 04-12-2006 05:02 PM

Goodbye Blue Sky is brilliant also.

Mr. Night V2.0 04-12-2006 05:17 PM

Yer.

I have the winner:

Have a Cigar!

Riva 04-12-2006 05:19 PM

Gotta love the funkicity.

Collis 04-12-2006 05:19 PM

I think my favourite Floyd solo is the one in Fat Old Sun. I remember hearing it for the first time, the song was very slow with just a few strums on the guitar, peaceful lyrics, soft drumming. Then suddenly he goes into this outrageous solo and to be fair it made me jump out of my skin. It was actually one of the only solo's I've heard which gave me goosebumps (Along with Comfortably Numb and the sax solo from Us and Them :thumb: ).

MidnightRider 04-12-2006 06:44 PM

I've always loved the intro to Pigs, though Goodbye Blue Sky is great too.

"Look mommy, there's an airplane up in the sky."

I love that keybord intro to Pigs (unless your taking about pigs part 1&2, whitch as the name implys I think are awsome as well). I think it might be my favorite part of the song. I learned it on my guitar I love playing it.

Fat Old Sun may be Pink Floyd's most underrated song. I have a great live 15 min version of it that blows me out of my mind everytime I hear it.

MidnightRider 04-12-2006 07:55 PM

Yeah, I was talking about Pigs(3 Different Ones). The intro is so dark.

Fat Old Sun is cool.

DeusExMachina 04-13-2006 05:01 PM

I like the version of Fat Old Sun from the acoustic concert.

Riva 04-13-2006 05:31 PM

I just like any Floyd song with an acoustic intro. :p

BigTrav415 04-14-2006 05:58 PM

Awesome Floyd guitar intros:

WYWH (it literally has brought tears to my eyes at times)
SOYCD (probably my favorite thing to play on guitar right now and for a while, that incredibly emotional bluesy solo, then the Syd theme, and the heavy part... man)
Is There Anybody Out There? (not really an intro I guess but you get the picture)
Brain Damage (*sigh* first song I learned on la guitarra :) )
Dogs (the fade-in non-traditional drop-tuned chords with the keyboard is :thumb: in my book)
Stairway To Heaven (umm duh gilmour's acoustic is da bomb)
Let There Be More Light (/me grooves)
Echoes (same reason as SOYCD but more spacey)
Fearless (/me uplifted spirit)
Wot's... Uh The Deal (" ")
Childhood's End (Dogs-esque fade-in)
In The Flesh? (scare-the-sh[font=
"Verdana"]it-out-of-you-the-first-time-you-hear-itingness FTW)
Run Like Hell (erm duh)
Free Four (happy chords++)

Yeah, that's about right. And Riva, if I had a big avatar I'd totally pwn your Python avatar with a better one. Watch your back o_O

One Of These Days is a monster of a song.
One Of These Days is a monster of a song.
Heeeeeeeeeeeell yeah

I'd bring up the thing about if you listen in one headphone/speaker it sounds like Mason is saying "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces" and in the other it sounds like "One of these days I'm going to dance with the evil beast", but then some regs might get vehemently sarcastic.

o shi

Riva 04-15-2006 01:10 AM

I thought it was One of these days I'm going to rip you into pieces when I first heard it.

I've been working on learning that song on the ol' guitar.. It's fun as hell to play.

I always heard One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces.

Mr. Night V2.0 04-15-2006 03:32 PM

I thought it was:

"One Of These Days, I'm Gonna Lose My Rag"
WYWH (it literally has brought tears to my eyes at times)
The Live version leaves me absolutly speechless.

Whale and Wasp 04-15-2006 03:34 PM

i thought it was supposed to be some backwarsd message

Mr. Night V2.0 04-15-2006 03:43 PM

I don't think it is, there's definatly some decipheral words in there.

Whale and Wasp 04-15-2006 04:03 PM
I don't think it is, there's definatly some decipheral words in there.
argh sorry i mis-said it....i mean i thought it was a backwards message at first time i heard it

Mr. Night V2.0 04-15-2006 04:33 PM

Oh. Alright then.

Ephemeral 04-15-2006 05:24 PM

Yeah, come to think of it, it does kind of sounds backwards.

I think they might have put backwards echo on it, and then slowed the tape down.

standard 04-15-2006 05:33 PM

I read somewhere how they made it.. Mason spoke really fast when they recorded it, then they slowed it down and got that sound.

Mr. Night V2.0 04-15-2006 05:50 PM

It does sound slowed.

BigTrav415 04-15-2006 07:13 PM

Man, wouldn't it be cool to have access to the original master tapes of PinK Floyd's albums... with all the original, seperated tracks before effects and all that jazz. So cool... like I have the drums track for Fool In The Rain by Led Zeppelin, as in the actual track recorded and then put together with the rest of the song. It's real too, you can hear the guitar and piano very faintly in the background, and Bonham has some great banter at the beginning. Unfortunately it cuts out right before the drum part of the "whistle breakdown", but I think that's because they recorded that part on a seperate track with bongos and whatnot.

Riva 04-15-2006 07:16 PM

I like it because Nick does a sort of growl before the harsh vocals really became prevalent. I still maintain that Mike Oldfield performed the worlds first harsh vocals.

MidnightRider 04-15-2006 10:05 PM

Any chance you could upload that, Trav?

Is this for real? Has it been released? It says the release date is Sept 06, but why are people reviewing it? Oh well, it has a release date!!! :D
