I haven't posted in some time but I come often just to check if the album has leaked. Yeah finally after some months of waiting I have it thanks to Reiner, and I can say I really like it. I don't know what you guys were expecting, but I knew this would be pretty much the same as the original, and it's a refreshing listening. It's not better or worse, it's just different. Drumming is better, bass lines are better, everything sounds clearer now, and although some horns left me quite unhappy during the first 2-3 listens, I realised it's just a matter of time. I really like this album. Of course, I would have preffered new stuff, I think we all can agree in this, but Thomas (and company) is on his right to remake his own album, and I can't say I'm upset with that.

Unseen2k0 02-24-2006 12:48 PM

It isn't bad, but I was hoping for a lot more. I think it's a lot better than the Catch-22 versions though. No doubt there. I still enjoy it a lot.

KingOfSka 02-24-2006 01:09 PM
Goddamnit, I suck at self-control. I like the drumming better so far, but I haven't had time to properly form an opinion on the rest.
I agree, the snare sounds better on the SlM version.

lynch_me 02-24-2006 03:16 PM

It's a waste of time to get, I'd rather listen to the original over it.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy it. But I don't have the orginial on CD either, I should pick it up sometime.

DaveToopes 02-24-2006 04:31 PM

I have the original. I won't be purchasing Streetlight's 'remaster' of it.

Bukowski 02-24-2006 05:03 PM

I like the drumming on this much better than on the original. I think its pretty good, but if i was in their situation i wouldn't really want to make an album based on songs i'd already made with my previous band.

But hey, they did, and it's a good listen.

_JR 02-24-2006 05:14 PM

its gotta be a slap in the face to the people still in catch22 who made the origional, especially some of the stuff he says at the end of 12341234

Led-ZeppelinIV 02-24-2006 05:18 PM

Yeah, I'd be pissed if I were in C22.

POINTLESS5448 02-24-2006 06:53 PM

id be pissed if i were catch22 but then id realize that theyre nothing without thomas.

KingOfSka 02-24-2006 07:33 PM

Theyre something without Tomas. Just not the something they were with him.

I like alot of their post KN stuff.

Liebensaft 02-24-2006 10:02 PM

Without Tomas, they're a generic sounding ska band. With Tomas, they were amazing.

Kithkin 02-24-2006 10:50 PM

Alone in the Crowd was good. Washed Up and Through the Ringer was good. Dinosaur sounds was mediocre at best, bad at average and terrible at worst.

Thomas has never been a good singer, but he's always fit the sound. AitC's singer was a good singer and a good lyricist, and he made up for what Thomas took away. But the people who replaced him were both bad singers and bad lyricists. To say Dinosaur Sounds is a good album is to only look at it on the merits of its best songs and it's horn lines.

Ghostfire3 02-24-2006 11:05 PM

One of the best singers in current ska bands = the singer from The Toasters

Anarcho Poser 02-24-2006 11:25 PM

I'm kind of disappointed at this album.
One of the best singers in current ska bands = the singer from The Toasters
Which singer. Bucket is a terrible singer. He has no tone. He has great lyrics but as a singer he's really bad.

He's bad to the extent that if he doesn't have the other singer (a black guy who can really sing) singing with him the whole show kinda sucks.

Technically Bucket can sing in tune, but he falls far behind:

Chris Murray
The guy from the Slackers
The guy from the Mad Caddies
The guy from the Smooths
The girls from the Dance Hall Crashers
The guy from Animal Chin
The guy from Area 7
The guy from Fishbone
The guy from Flavio y la Mandinga
Mark Foggo
The guy from the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble
The guy from Go Jimmy Go
The guy from One Cool Guy
The guy from Jump with Joey
Gwen Stefani
The guy from Reel Big Fish or the Forces of Evil
The guy from Pain
The guy from the Littest Man Band
The guy from Satori
The guy from the Rx Bandits
The guy from Ska-P
The guy from the Suburban Legends
The guy from the Pietasters
The guy from Solabeat Alliance
The guys from Sonic Boom Six
The guy from the Slackers
The guy from Skaos

The best singers are from

The Slackers
The Suburban Legends
The Forces of Evil (but oddly not Reel Big Fish)
The Rx Bandits and
The Littlest Man Band

I don't think he's a terrible singer. But I agree that he has cool lyrics. And I agree that a lot of the people you listed are good singers. I think I said that because I was listening to The Toasters at the time and enjoying it a lot.

obese_breasts 02-25-2006 12:10 AM

It's funny that I see the singer and guitarist for the Mad Caddies around town so often. I saw them at a sushi restaurant I was at a few months back.

Ghostfire3 02-25-2006 12:11 AM

Have you ever talked to them?

obese_breasts 02-25-2006 12:23 AM

yeah, a couple times. Sascha, the guitarist and my dad are friends through music and stuff.
I'm kind of disappointed at this album.
everybody is for the most part,

im glad it happened, but i was expecting more.

KingOfSka 02-25-2006 01:41 AM

Vic Ruggiero from The Slackers is an awesome singer.

So is the guy from Westbound Train.

POINTLESS5448 02-25-2006 10:46 AM

I wasn't going to take it that far.

You obviously just copied and pasted "The guy from" I just wanted to rub some dirt on your nose.

FauxApathy 02-25-2006 03:50 PM

Hmm, the site it was one doesn't work but I want to hear it.

gastery6 02-25-2006 07:32 PM

Its nothing special, just wait for it to come out and then download it

Anarcho Poser 02-26-2006 12:31 AM
Its nothing special, just wait for it to come out and then download it
Or just listen to the orriginal Keasby Nights.

FauxApathy 02-26-2006 02:05 AM

So, if it's not different at all, Doesn't it seem like he did it just out of pure spite? Isn't that...kinda... unprofessional of them?
