Yeah, I'm not sure about that one yet. I want to like it. :-\
I have to be in the right mood for them.
For sure.

AlienEater 10-18-2006 10:45 AM

I like them all the time.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-18-2006 12:18 PM

Doooooooom As ****

Nepenthe 10-18-2006 05:20 PM

I avoided The Sword for quite a while because I just assumed they'd be watered down Doom Metal after noticing all the media attention they've been getting, but they're actually really good.

Bartender 10-18-2006 05:33 PM

Yeah, it's alright. One of the few albums I've downloaded recently actually (recently being the last couple of years). I liked it quite a bit at first, but found it swiftly became less interesting to listen to. Don't think I ever made it through a second full time.

Nepenthe 10-18-2006 05:46 PM

I've listened through it about 6 times now in the car, and once or twice here at home, and I'm not growing tired of it yet. The first half of it is admittedly much better than the second, and I could see getting tired of the last half in the future.

ATM 10-18-2006 06:20 PM

Ive been listening to the Sword a ton. I really like that band.

Nepenthe 10-18-2006 06:28 PM

Barael's Blade, Freya, and Winter's Wolves is a deadly trio back to back to back.

Kage 10-18-2006 06:29 PM

You know there are two different bands--Sword and The Sword? Weird, huh?

pate 10-19-2006 12:31 AM

I didn't think The Sword's album was too special. The doom debut from this year that I did think was special is Sahg. Album of the year IMO. And they were great live too...and I met King ov Hell after they played :p

Nepenthe 10-19-2006 12:33 AM

Teehee... sahg.

pate 10-19-2006 12:36 AM

Eh?

Nepenthe 10-19-2006 12:41 AM

I don't know. Sahg. Sag. Funny word.

pate 10-19-2006 12:47 AM

Ahh.

Funny word, great band.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-19-2006 05:03 AM

The Sword isn't too bad, though I haven't payed loads of attention to them yet.

Great list ya put there, don't see many people mention the melvins these days, they aint really stoner, freak-rock :smoke:
They're fit for discussion in here I think. To me they have their sludge moments, drone moments and post-punk moments.

Their new one, (A) Senile Animal, is amazing. It really harks back to their old days.

Kyle 10-19-2006 06:12 AM

The Sword put on a good live show.

Smackers 10-19-2006 07:41 AM

Yeah, I saw them play in DC back in the spring and it was a good show. I didn't think much of their album, but they're a decent live band.

ATM 10-19-2006 03:04 PM

I might go see them because they are coming to Baltimore at the end of this year.

AlienEater 10-19-2006 04:52 PM

I'd assume they'll be OK.

the2stranger 10-22-2006 11:15 AM

So I ordered some nice funeral doom today:

Ahab - Call OF The Wretched Sea
Comatose Vigil - Not A Gleam Of Hope.

w00t!
This makes me very happy. Anyone familair with Ahab?

Txus 10-22-2006 11:38 AM

I am :)

Great funeral doom

the2stranger 10-22-2006 11:40 AM

I've only read great reviews about their full length so I'm sure it will be good.:)

I'm listening to Mournful Cogregation right now, My first ever funeral doom band.

np: When The Weeping Dawn Beheld Its Mortal Thirst

Txus 10-22-2006 11:50 AM

I don't have any Mournful Cogregation :(

My first FD band was Reclusiam.

Freezing Moon 10-22-2006 11:57 AM

Ahab is great, and Mournful Congregation is definitely one of my favorite funeral doom bands. The Monad of Creation in particular.
