I ran into someone who thought that Helter Skelter and various other harder Beatles songs were rip offs of The Ramones. That's stupid though since The beatles were way before The Ramones.

All together I like the first one the best, but I like the guitar on the reprise better. |
That's a brilliant album, isn't it :)
|
I remember that I had this shocked look on my face after the first three guitar notes of Sgt Peppers Lonly Hearts Club Band and it stayed that way until long after A Day in the Life was over.
|
I was wondering who plays the brass instruments on Sgt. Peppers?
|
What about comparing them to the Ramones? Are they really like Helter Skelter? Sorry I usually wouldn't push for the answear like this, but I'm going to the cd store tomorrow and if they sound like Helter Skelter I'll pick somthing by them up (and that acoustic version of it sounded cool too I'll look for it :thumb: )
most definitely not. the ramones are all about simple, catchy power chords. un beatle-like. |
Did you know that at one point in Russia there was a double album you could buy, that was a combination of Sgt. Pepper's and Revolver?
The track lists were exactly the same. The front cover was sgt. pepper's, the back cover was the front cover of Revolver and the inside was like Sgt. Pepper's. All the writing was in russian though. |
Does anybody know who played piano?
John played piano on "Hey Bulldog" and also on "I am the Walrus" and Paul played it aswell. they both played it. fun fact!: :p in the lyrics of Hey Bulldog, John is actually singing Hey Bull Frog, but because paul started barking at the end they named it Hey Bulldog. |

Paul was by far the best piano player in the group, he taught himself to play at an early age. |

When I'm 64 was one of his first, he wrote it on piano when he was a teenager. A Day In The Life could end the world, it is just so. good. |

Oh man I wish I read that before I went to the store. But I got the Ramones cd and, its not bad. I can hear where the Beatles may have influenced them, whitch is cool because I never really thought of the Beatles influenceing punk before. |

I like the first one better, I have all there albums (vinyl) |

One of my friends has the mother of all Beatles songs. Its them playing Day Tripper with Hendrix. Its really him to. Its awsome.
|
ive got that one too. its definately hendrix singing w/ someone, but i never thought it was really the beatles. i mean, there is no part in it where you can really tell its lennons voice w/ jimi. also, idk of anytime when lennon would have joined hendrix onstage. the beatles stopped touring in august of 66 and hendrix wasnt playin at any of there shows. i wonder who is singing w/ hendrix on this version. anybody have any info?
|
Well it was in studio and I'm pretty sure its the Beatles singing. Hendrix did a lot of in studio jams with people. I know I have one with Hendrix and the Beatles playing Yesterday because John talks and so does Jimi, they are actually telling him how to play it so they can jam :)
Does anybody know who played piano?
They both knew how to play, and both played in their solo careers. However, for the Beatles work, it was mostly Paul. |

didnt you see paul play at the superbowl, it was great. hey jude was awesome, i hope the terrorist saw that to show how much of a better country we have and they should stop doing the suicide bombs, only america could have a show that great during such a great event. |
I love Abbey Road and Yellow Submarine best, just taught myself how to play "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds". I like all of the Beatles stuff, but I think the later stuff is much better. I also studied John Lennon in music class in 5th grade which turned me on to them.

On what instrument? |
Guitar
|
Ahh, nice. I think the first thing I tired to learn on bass was Michelle, I got the intro (first 6 notes) then moved on to "Dazed and Confuzed"
|
First song I ever learned to play on guitar was Blackbird. (I think I've said that like, 20 times. What a crappy filler post...)
|
I learned Day Tripper today. For some reason I don't have the cd that its on, so I liked the song so I just learned it.
|
Holy crap, Deus, without playing any other string instrument before? How long did it take?
|
Blackbird is such a pretty song but its a bugger to sing at the same time!
Random fact for ya Paul became a better pianist than the others because whilst in Hamburg he was forced to play piano instead of guitar for ages because he broke his guitar and couldnt afford another one. I love the stories of the beatles in Hamburg, it all sounds really crazy and dirty, very unlike the clean cut Beatles that Epstein made them. |
