Good call.

metty16 04-11-2005 03:49 PM

Heroin is a good example that emo doesn't suck.

cbmartinez 04-11-2005 04:03 PM

So is every band mentioned in the first post of this thread except for Clikitat Ikatowi and Antioch Arrow.

Wow 04-11-2005 04:06 PM

I like some Clikatat and I love Antioch.

cbmartinez 04-11-2005 04:07 PM

Clikatat boo! They suck. Send me some Antioch when I get online.

sharpeys84 04-11-2005 07:53 PM

Wow 04-11-2005 08:16 PM

Wrong forum.

tornpictures 04-12-2005 06:34 AM

Clikatat Ikatowi are one of the most amazing bands ever.
All incredibly talented musicians.

RetiredAt21 04-12-2005 10:22 AM

Never heard of them. I'll check them out.

Wow 04-12-2005 10:36 AM

They're a weird band. I listen to them when I want to relax.

I just can't into the vocals. I usually don't mind that spoken word thing, but they just annoy me.

frmautumTOashes 04-12-2005 03:05 PM
Ok, I've been getting into Thursday more and more and was wondering which album I should get of theirs.
Definately get Full Collapse. That's what got me into what emo. Not directly, but from there I started listening to some post-hardcore, nu-emo, post-emo or popcore or whatever the fuck you want to call it, then emo.
Never heard of them. I'll check them out.
haha even I've heard of them.

BuddyBigsby 04-12-2005 03:57 PM

hahahahahaha, anyone ever heard a band called Devola? Oh man, and I thought Jerome's Dreams vox were bad...

cbmartinez 04-12-2005 04:16 PM

Emo band?

Wow 04-12-2005 04:19 PM

They're just amazing. That's all you need to know. And I do the best Devola vocal impression ever.

YDload 04-12-2005 04:22 PM

have you guys heard of Circa Survive? They're called post-hardcore, but I wouldn't trust that on its own. Also, the singer has very high-pitched vocals, but I don't mind.

BuddyBigsby 04-12-2005 04:51 PM

Good band, but not material for this thread.

cbmartinez 04-12-2005 05:12 PM

I don't see what's so great about them. The vocals are cool (I know plenty of people who think they are good just because they have Anthony Green) but the music is boring.

BuddyBigsby 04-12-2005 05:16 PM

I'd be guilty of jocking them because of TDF before jocking them because of Anthony Green.

cbmartinez 04-12-2005 05:25 PM

Makes sense...

What the fuck?

BuddyBigsby 04-12-2005 05:27 PM

They have ex-This Day Forward...

cbmartinez 04-12-2005 05:28 PM

Ohhh. That's a plus. What's up with TDF's last album? It's all pop-punky.

BuddyBigsby 04-12-2005 05:35 PM

I wouldn't call it pop-punky.... although I'm deeply in love with it and it may be my favorite one.

Sep 04-13-2005 03:32 AM

Do parts of Little Girls Pointing And Laughing by Alexisonfire sound very emo-ish to anyone else? Just the build-up and how the vocals work together. I got that kind of feeling.

Or maybe I'm just insane.

tornpictures 04-13-2005 05:07 AM
hahahahahaha, anyone ever heard a band called Devola? Oh man, and I thought Jerome's Dreams vox were bad...
On 'Presents' the JD vocals are bad, but on their other stuff they're amazing.

Frodus are awesome.

BuddyBigsby 04-13-2005 02:00 PM

I always thought he sounded ridiculous on the older stuff. Nevertheless, I still liked them.

cbmartinez 04-13-2005 03:38 PM

When I band has some nice guitar work but horrid vocals, I can usually get past the vocals and like them. But I just can't get past those JD vocals.
I always thought he sounded ridiculous on the older stuff. Nevertheless, I still liked them.
Their live shows were sick! He never used a mic and eventually his voice got all ****ed up. That's why they used a sort of 'megaphone' on 'Presents.'

I've heard of Decahedron.. what do they sound like?

StandingStill 04-14-2005 07:58 AM

Decahedron are great kinda post-punky, dischord stuff... i think someone from fugazi is in them...
anyways I got bored one day so I read most of the 82 page thread. Pretty sad, but mostly interesting. Just wanted to say thanks for everyone that recommended all the cool bands. Couple of things...some one mentioned 'The Murder Of Rosa Luxembourg' they started out as a joke metal band, then went a bit mental on their full length, dont think you can call it emo/screamo at all... THEN, they released an ep called 'secret bark language' which is really wierd and mellow, almost jazz...

I would like a hand with the definitions of the following... (dont think any of them are 'pure' emo or screamo, but the influences are clear).
Small Brown Bike
Million Dead
Dino Velvet http://www.purevolume.com/dinovelvet
Sparks, Lights and Flames http://www.purevolume.com/sparkslightsandflames
Auditory Aphasia http://www.purevolume.com/AuditoryAphasia

thanks guys n gals

Psh, I played one show in my life and it was without a mic. Big whoop.
