Hey MXers, just got into Tool after hearing my friends obsess about them for the past few months so I thought I'd check out some of their stuff.

I've got about 7 of their songs now including:

Schism
Stinkfist
Lateralus

I'm looking for some more recommendations if anyone would be willing to help me out I'd appreciate it.

Good songs. Get Ænema, Eulogy, H, Jimmy, 4 Degrees, Prison Sex, Undertow, Jerk Off, The Patient, Ticks and Leeches, Third Eye, Pus.hit.

an_underused_memory 11-17-2004 12:55 AM

Tool are such an album band, I highly recommend getting all the albums, a dark room and listening to them in awe :)

Speaking of which - has anyone tried listening to the entire tool catalogue
opiate-undertow-aenima-(perhaps salival)- lateralus
back-to-back in one sitting??
it'd take 6 -7 hours, i wonder what it'd be like....certainly be trippy..

ænima 11-17-2004 01:03 AM

yeah i did that(-salival) it was the mean full day but i surpose it was worth it but i wouldnt do that again waste of a day really

ænima 11-17-2004 01:05 AM

but it wasnt like i just sat there i had to have my leg up so i was in bed and i went to sleep afew times so i dont no if it really counts..

I tried one day during a loooong walk I had to take. My batteries died during H, so I never completed it. It was a weird thing though, listening to Undertow Maynard then Aenima Maynard straight after

xtreme450 11-17-2004 10:49 AM

the other day i went out and bought all of tool's albums and the first APC album at the same time...it set me back about sixty dollars, but i thought it was well worth it. it is amazing to see the progressive change in tool as you listen through all thier songs.

Excluding Salival I assume. That's pretty hardcore man. I wish I had that kind of money.

TheMachineRagesOn 11-18-2004 04:42 AM

Ive listened to Opiate/Undertow/Aenim and Lateralus (not salival, gotta get it) through i tunes and it only goes for like 4 hours though its bloody brilliant, Huge change through the albums. ive done it countless times and i never get tired of it rather it sucks when all tracks have been played, i want more..

Recomend people do it, nice listening :thumb:

Adam Jones is GOD 11-18-2004 07:40 AM

Still nothing better than sitting at the cpu, putting Tool audio file on shuffle play, and seeing what 10 songs appear first.

on an APC note, is aMOTION out in the US yet? It was said to be released this week from my record store source, yet its not there. This I am looking forward to though, rather than eMOTIVE.

Killseng 11-18-2004 09:23 AM

Yes Adam Jones is god.

Attn: All UK Tool fans

Have any of you seen the new Band Aid video yet?

Watch it and prepare to be very very angry

(clue: this is tool related)

Ill say one word. Busted

Adam Jones is GOD 11-18-2004 01:22 PM
I saw that...I don't which ones which, but one of them was indeed wearing a Tool shirt. I'd be interested to know how many Busted fans have even heard of them. And the thought just struck me today, about who gets to review the new Tool album for this place...

*waits for fighting to begin*
ME ME ME!!!!!

And for those who need proof (sob sob) http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004532444,00.html

Bottom picture

About the revierw though, as long as someone in this thread does it, Im happy (as long as they a regular)

Dancin' Man 11-18-2004 01:47 PM

Busted is my favorite band. Really.

Adam Jones is GOD 11-18-2004 01:50 PM

Pah. McFly any day. They have more than one riff per song.

And thats the last we shall speak of either here

Dancin' Man 11-18-2004 01:51 PM

Actually, I've never heard them (Busted or McFly). All I know is they're some UK pop phenomenon. Should I itch the itch and download some?

Adam Jones is GOD 11-18-2004 01:53 PM

If you wish to have a cheesy moment of pop then yes.

Go get 5 colours in her hair by McFly

And Busted are touring the US now, love to see what reaction they get. (I give them credit for the thunderbirds theme song)

ThirteenthStep 11-18-2004 07:03 PM

yeah its out in the US, i got it on i think wednesday (yesterday) Hella sweet DVD, CD is good too its just remixes

Magicaltroll 11-18-2004 07:39 PM

omgwtfboogie 11-18-2004 08:00 PM
is there any date on the new tool album yet........
Of course not....they just keep hinting at early '05.

horseypie 11-18-2004 08:20 PM

eMOTIVe isnt at all that good....passive would probably be the best tho i do like annihilation and the fiddle and the drum....but eMOTIVe was quite a let down. I didnt think that maynard did mmuch with his voice and i hope he does better on the new tool album or else it wont be that good

Four of the songs were sung by Billy, so don't make Maynard get all the rap.

Magicaltroll 11-19-2004 08:20 PM

hey, i know that this has nothing to do with the current conversation, but wheres toolownsyou? (the threadstarter)
havent seen him in like forever, just wondering if anyone knows anything...

TheMachineRagesOn 11-19-2004 08:24 PM

Yeah i was pondering that a while ago, i havent seen him in a long, long time.

He doesn't come by much. I think he just started the thread for all us Tool fans, and left it at that. Or maybe hes just busy.
