I am looking forward to buy a The Doors album... any suggestions as to a first album to buy besides a greatest hits?
I just have the best off the doors 2 disk set (most recent one). It has all of their best songs but i'd really like some other albums so I could hear more songs.

Umm I guess the classic rock abcs thing is dead :( unless...

Fleetwood Mac.

Badmoon 07-13-2004 02:10 PM

Today I bought...

The String Cheese Incident - Born on the Wrong Planet (Fabulous album and jam band, they perfected Bluegrass)

and

Bad Brains - S/t

BludgeonySteve 07-13-2004 02:17 PM

^ Good name.

btw i'm unbanneded :)

Lee Harvey Castro 07-13-2004 02:18 PM

I know this doesn't quite fit in the Classic rock ideals but seeing as it's classic music and stems from rock 'n' roll, who here like myself is a big fan of Motown soul?

Badmoon 07-13-2004 02:20 PM

I like Otis Redding, kind of. But he's just Soul, not Motown

BludgeonySteve 07-13-2004 03:24 PM

Motown is the root of popular music. It has played a huge roll in the history of music, and classic rock would not be the same without it. Motown will always be welcome in this thread :)

RockAndRoll 07-13-2004 07:42 PM

Genesis.

Soft parade and strange Days are good albums, strange days is probably better for a first album though.

Badmoon 07-13-2004 07:50 PM

Any of you have Free - Fire and Water?

I can't find that anywhere.

RockAndRoll 07-14-2004 10:41 AM

BludgeonySteve 07-14-2004 01:39 PM

Let's just say it does.

RockAndRoll 07-14-2004 09:28 PM

Cream *drools* their song sra ejust completely mindblowingly amazingly good.

"twice upon a time in the valley of the tears the auctioneer is bidding on a box of fading years"

No, it's a band, and I'm pretty sure Kyle Glass isn't in the band.

dongingtonrocker 07-14-2004 10:19 PM

A big help was School of Rock. Immigrant song was really popular when that movie came out with my friends and such. I had been listening to classic rock for a while and when that movie came out EVERYONE wanted to either start a band or listen to some zep.

RockAndRoll 07-14-2004 10:31 PM

Random rock fact: what was the first movie led zeppelin ever let use their music ?(I don't think they normally do let them).

Badmoon 07-14-2004 10:37 PM

Dazed and Confused?

RockAndRoll 07-14-2004 10:44 PM
Dazed and Confused?
Is their music even on that movie?

dongingtonrocker 07-14-2004 11:34 PM

dunnno. I think so. Just saw it again 2 weeks ago.

burt reynolds 07-15-2004 12:08 AM

AEROSMITH, GO BUY THIER FIRST 5 ALBUMS, THEY ARE VERY VERY GOOD

burt reynolds 07-15-2004 12:09 AM

Wrong
hell yea Free Bird's massive solo! Skynrd were pioneers, they started Southern Rock... but they were still classic! BUT I don't think that they were the best classic rock band, but they were one of the best, at least. I personally think Zeppelin was the best classic rock band of all.
ALLMAN BROTHERS
almost famous, the wonderfully beautiful song that's the way, that was the first movie to use thier music,
That's the answer I was looking fo, but I do beleive that's not the only song of theirs in the movie (when they're going into new yorkand they find out he's not a virgin it's playing misty mountain hop if I remember correctly).

That is why I do not beleive that dazed aand confused has any of their music in it.

T-Web 07-15-2004 07:44 AM

BludgeonySteve 07-15-2004 09:28 AM
