Dudes, dudes, duuuudes. Chill out. Think how brilliant this really is. I mean, you're all just jealous you had thought it up, right?
Oh ok.

Strange... a Tool fan whos into emo...
haha i guess so. thirteenthstep is into emo too. im surprised i dont meet many tool fans into emo, because i find tool to be pretty emotional.

Darkness 08-26-2005 09:53 PM

Maybe in the older days, but I find Lateralus is more spiritual, rather then Maynard just being angry.

deadohiosky9 08-26-2005 09:58 PM

I agree, Laterlaus is more spiritual, where as Aenema was probably the more emotional album.

Lateralias 08-26-2005 10:03 PM

Wow we are just fed more Blairesque info.... I'm growing impatient but I know the wait must be worth it.

ThirteenthStep 08-26-2005 10:04 PM

helllllo. i guess you all know about the prank, i was in on it with deadohiosky. sorry if u guys are mad about it, but it was pretty **** funny i have to say. this wasnt like to make fun of u guys, it was mainly cause we were bored out of our minds. so yeah, i hope u guys enjoyed that. or not. it was all in good fun. and tool still kicks as.s

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 10:04 PM

/me emails Blair
Here I was, innocently messaging the beloved Adam Jones through myspace, trying to convince him that I knew stuff I shouldn't, and here's the response I got back from him:

From: A D A M
Date: Aug 18, 2005 7:26 PM
Subject: ||||.|.||||
Body: jake
please leave positive comments
blairs one of my best friends
i hope your kidding
and its • • • - • • - - • - -
A

I saw the subject, and I thought "hmm, I wonder what that is?"

Then, luckily for myself, Adam included the original series of dots and dashes. I noticed how he also included spaces between each character, and somehow, my mind made the connection that there are an equal number of characters in each series. So, I intertwined them, and got this :

|•|•|•|-.•|•.-|-|-|-|

I suppose you could place the dot in front of the vertical line, but either way, the series is an exact opposite, which sort of carries along with these rumors I've been hearing about Maynard writing lyrics about light and dark, and other opposite pairs.

The time is right. Every avvid Tool fan is dying to know what exactly is up with this odd assortment of symbols, and I would like you to tell us exactly what is going on here. If anything, please email me back with something about sausagues, just so I know this link isn't some cheap gimmick.

Without Wax,

Jake

(I hope you're as big of a Dan Brown fan as I expect you to be)

Rothmans 08-26-2005 10:05 PM

Ah I will admit I would of loved to of made something like that, that is brilliant and really well done but still I wouldnt dare torture a very eager fan if someone came out with that with Neurosis god...

Rothmans 08-26-2005 10:06 PM

Actually Blair complains in one of his secret places about how Dan Brown ripped off another book I can find it for you if you want?

Not cool.

Lateralias 08-26-2005 10:10 PM

It has been like that for awhile actually.

BlindWriting 08-26-2005 10:10 PM

It's a reference to the documentary The Aristocrats.

Dammit. I figured since The Davinci Code was on Tool's booklist, Blair would have to like his books. :upset:

Oh well.

Dried Muffin Remnants 08-26-2005 10:17 PM

Wow. Good for Blair...The Davinci Code was an overrated, poorly written piece of crap.

Mr Herb 08-26-2005 10:29 PM

Justin uses fernandez basses. . like I do :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 10:40 PM

Do you have one of those portable ones, with effects, amp, etc.. built directly in? Those look extremely cool, although I've never heard one played, so they could sound cheap.

Mr Herb 08-26-2005 10:42 PM

waT? I have a fernandez starters kit,its very good

Moses 08-26-2005 11:48 PM

i got lateralus. it was pretty cool, ill have to listen to it again, didnt match my expectations since everyone in the R&M forum loooves Tool.

seemed like a lot of the songs were just dragged on, but a pretty rockin album for the most part. maynard's voice is too weak and sad at times, but it gives a darkness to the album, which is cool i guess. not a a very powerful voice tho, even on that huge scream in grudge, hes got the range but not the height if you know what i mean.

album is too long for me to really enjoy on a daily basis, average length of the song has got to be like 7 1/2minutes?, not counting those pointless 1minuters. but a pretty solid album, which one should i get next?

It'll grow on you. I didn't like the album much at all when I first got it.

Go for Aenima

Rounder 08-27-2005 04:02 AM
Go for Aenima
yes. The best introduction to Tool is Aenima. In fact, it will make you appreciate Lateralus in a new way. Trust us dude, get Aenima.

Uh, arn't you missing the dot on the right there? That would make it not opposites at all.

Surely it should be |•|•|•|-.•|•.-|-|•|-|

And thats missing off one of the -'s anyway.
