The Allman Brothers just cant compete in the polls with DSOTM. :upset:

DSOTM = most overated
Eat a Peach = most underated

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-05-2005 08:43 PM

Anybody up for some AIM tradin?

Badmoon 02-05-2005 08:46 PM

I'll give something off, if anyone wants anything.

Illmatic 02-05-2005 08:47 PM

Also, Hendrix fared poorly in his poll too, which sucks.

For my money, Are You Experienced? and Eat a Peach were the two best albums left.
I googled it, but I'll wait and see if someone knows.
Crosby made an off-hand political statement, so he was kicked out of the band. That's about all I know.

What?

Nope. You were talking about the Byrds, and you asked how they broke up. You googled the answer and waited to see if someone knew it.

No, I didn't ask how they broke up. I believe it was Distant Echoes, and I googled the answer to Schyma's question.

Whatever! Stop spamming the thread. RnR will get all PMS on us.

Anyways, I've been wanting to get into Simon & Garfunkel, any album recommendations?

jpj 02-05-2005 09:09 PM

I believe Bridge Over Troubled Water is supposed to be good.

Someone said it, it's from Love-The Red Telepone.

Woodstock 02-05-2005 09:11 PM

I think I'll start with one of those famous Greatest Hits.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-05-2005 09:37 PM

Hello, has anything important gone on in here while I was gone?

slowhand 02-05-2005 09:39 PM

Just bought Pink Floyd's 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.'

It's an interesting album. I went in knowing it wouldn't be the Pink Floyd of DSOTM, but it still surprised me how much different the album is from the latter Pink Floyd. I guess that's what happens when someone like Syd is being the guy with all the songs, or most of them.

It's a good album, but I think I preffer 'Wish You Were Here' more.

Well, The Byrd's could not have broken up due to one of Crosby's off hand remarks. Because I'm pretty sure that Crosby left during the 60's and never came back. And they of course broke up during '73, therefore he couldn't have really played a role in the breakup.

True, but I'm sure they reached their peak with Crosby at their side.

BludgeonySteve 02-05-2005 10:17 PM

Leaving was the best thing he ever did. Because CSN(Y) pwnz0orz The Byrds :)

Badmoon 02-05-2005 10:19 PM

I'm listening to Shakedown Street :D. How could allmusic.com give that album two stars? There is at least six 5/5 songs featured.

Stagger Lee > All of them

I recommend you all download Robert Hunter's (Garcia's Co-writer) version, entitled "Delia DeLyon and Stagger Lee".
Leaving was the best thing he ever did. Because CSN(Y) pwnz0orz The Byrds :)
Plus, The Byrds were more unique without him.

PATGOD can really grow on you though. Be careful or else you'll end up listening to Interstellar Overdrive all the time.

Haha, I think ANGUS YOUNG 13's neg rep actually increased my rep total.

I'd agree, I'm not a big fan of greatest hits and how they've taken of the world along with singles and hits with the new easy to download tracks and burnable cd's. To be quite honest I think they're just another step in to massacreing music in to pretty much anything that flows and is within the limits of my particular social group is pure gold. When in reality it's a shallow, simple, boring, formulaic, unoriginal, unemotional heap of flaming shit that's been done a million times before.

However the Simon and Garfunkle greatest hits is failry well done and fairly large, so it's one of the few greatest hits that has done a decent job.

It was funny because you said "I'd agree", then went off for a paragraph about how greatest hits are a sign of the apocolypse, then added at the end that the Simon and Garkfunkle one was good.
