Rep party!

*brings out the booze* :chug:
Yeah, but I'm really impressed with Axl in how he has evolved as a songwriter. At least half the songs on CD I can confirm are orchestrated rock epics like a more evolved Estranged, November Rain, and Coma. He's also managed to combine industrial rock with some vaguely bluesy stuff too. Buckethead will definitley be on at the minimum, 75% of the album. It's really exciting (especially since CD is finally finished, and all that is left is a release date).
Despite the fact I don't really see it as GnR anymore I still am really looking forward to seeing what this album will be like. GnR is one of my favorite bands ever so I hope he makes it with this one.

Rep partys are overrated.

Spamwars between NE and UD regulars on WC forums is so much cooler

Have you heard any of the songs? I'm sure you can dowload some somewhere.

Blah, am I the only one that thinks GNR was good, but doesn't think that they're amazing?

As far as I see it, Guns N' Roses now is still Guns N' Roses, just a weird alternate dimension version. This band is all about evolution and change. I mean look at the difference between Appetite to Illusions. I agree that GnR isn't what it used to be, and it never will. In fact, if you look at it from that viewpoint, Guns N' Roses stopped being Guns N' Roses when Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler left (or in Steven's case, fired). Still, I have faith in CD (if not just blind curiosity). I mean this guy has spent years perfecting every song, every note.

I've heard the live bootlegs from 2002, and I don't judge CD on that stuff at all. Remember, that was in 2002. Between then and now, Axl has been writing, re-writing, recording, and re-recording everything till it meets his vision of perfection. That's going to make a huge difference when we see the final product.

No, in fact lots of people just think they're "meh". Along with the other large group of people who don't like them cause of Axl and haven't given much of any of the material a chance.

i am the robots 02-01-2005 09:13 PM

I like a lot of GNR songs, I hate a lot of other ones, I think Slash is what made them so great though... IDK I haven't heard too much of their stuff... maybe I should check out some more :)

oh and sorry for sounding out your name in the rep

Rep party pooper. Negative rep for you.

GNR I've only heard on the radio. Never given a real listen.

Heh, no problem.

I personally don't think Slash was what made GnR so great. I credit the "magic" that they had to mostly Axl and Izzy, and then Slash. Izzy Stradlin is an amazing songwriter, and his solo stuff is the best post-GnR material any of the ex-Gunners have made, period. Most of the best songs on the UYI and Appetite records, he had a part in writing. Without him, things fell apart. Axl had the vision and scope to help see it through, and it gave something for Slash to accompany. Had Steven or Duff fallen off the planet during their time in the spotlight, they could have been easily replaced (not taking away from them, as they are good songwriters in their own right).

If you wanna credit someone for making GnR great (other then Axl), I'd say Izzy Stradlin deserves that credit.
