Isn't that circular reasoning? I mean, are you guys showing respect for his opinion? Especially the person who brought it up, who got pissed because some dude doesn't like Maiden but does like The White Stripes.
I was thinking the same thing.

Steerpike 07-22-2005 10:34 AM
Just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean that he has no respect for it.
I don't tolerate the sort of behavior he was showing. Regardless of opinion, there's no reason to act that childish.
Isn't that circular reasoning? I mean, are you guys showing respect for his opinion? Especially the person who brought it up, who got pissed because some dude doesn't like Maiden but does like The White Stripes.
It's not his opinion I have a problem with, it's the fact he's being a brat about it. Until someone is going to act mature, I will treat them as I would a misbehaving child. I have no patience for fools, nor do I make any apologies for it.

Arucard 07-22-2005 11:24 AM
But he has an opinion, why can't it be valid?. So? He likes the white stripes now, he'll probably move on to Zeppelin and end up at Iron Maiden someday. I garuntee i can play the most acclaimed Maiden song to most of my friends and they will turn round and be like wtf? There are a few into heavy-ish music. But mostly they're all green day fans, and won't even appreciate relativeley light music like APC...
He likes Zeppelin already, he was actually trying to start this argument with me. And none of my friends are metalheads, one is a grunge fan, and the others like punk, its just when people deliberatly start arguments with me by baiting me that i get angry, and the fact that he's a stupid anarcho brat who listens to Rage and thinks hes a rebel.

This is the only person i argue with about music ever, you never see me taking the piss out of you guys for the music you like.

I personally liked Into the Pandemonium, but To Mega Therion is a good one too.

The only one I would say to avoid is Cold Lake, but that's so longer in circulation anyway.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-22-2005 11:40 AM

Ok, great story time. So last night at about 1:00 AM, I wake up, and I heard a bunch of sirens. I look out my window, and I see a load of cop cars heading my way. My parents were like wtf? so I went down stairs to ask them what was going on. My dad went outside, and the cops stopped, and they told him that they were chasing a guy who had a gun and some drugs. They asked my dad if he had seen the car, but he hadn't, because the sirens woke us up, not the actual druggie driving by. So, here are these 9 cop cars, and they think that they chases this guy into one of our corn fields, so they go down the road, and they're trying to find this guy, but every last one of them are these fata*** morons who have no clue how to coordinate,(There were cops from Sunnyside, Mabton, Grandview, some staters, and the sherrif) so they didn't find the guy. This morning, I wake up, and my dad looks out the window towards the field this guy was hiding in, and the guy was walking down the road toward our house.(oh shi') I walked over to the window, and my dad went downstairs. I asked him where he was going. "To get my shotgun."

:amaze:

Then, when I was still looking out the window, I saw the guy jump into one of the unsuspecting worker's trucks. "Uhh, dad, Jessie is giving this guy a ride." "Shit."

So my dad called the moron idiot cops again, and they showed up about half an hour ago, and guess what. They chased the bastard into another corn field. Protect and serve. refl.

The funny thing about those kids is that they betry what he really stood for by doing that, because it's really such an American thing to do.

In other news...my thread was dead when I woke up today, I cried :(

 This kid in my spanish class had like 4 of those, but he didn't even know his name, until my spanish teacher explained to him what Che was all about and such.

Joe- Well, the guy getting chased had a gun too, so it would have been kind of dumb to go after him without being properly equipped. :-D

You should hear my professor/advisor Johnathon Slade. He once regailed the classroom with the story of how he got drunk at a party full of rich people once and when they were all telling their emberassing childhood stories, he told the one about his younger brother and the axe incident and scared the bejeezus out of them.

Once he sobered up, he realized that life on a farm is different form life in an upper middle-class subdivision.

What's a good, small freeware program for burning CDs?

If you are just doing audio, I like iTunes a lot...it works better than anything else I have for that.

For an all around I don't know much freeware though. Nero is good but not free i don' think :-\

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-22-2005 12:03 PM

Don't get Windows Media Player. Every 2/5 cds that I try to burn messes up. It may be my burner, but it works just fine when I use RecordNow.

Lunch 07-22-2005 12:30 PM

I do that too, and all the CDs turn out fine. You guys suck at windows media player.

Me too. As long as you don't mind usuing .WMA files, it's fine.

Drugstep 07-22-2005 12:34 PM

I never burn out of Windows Media Player, because most of the CD's I burn come out to around 78 minutes, and WMP rounds the song lengths up and assumes that the CD will come out over 80 minutes and doesn't burn it.

Lunch 07-22-2005 12:37 PM

I fit a CD with 79:25 seconds onto WMP.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-22-2005 12:47 PM
Me too. As long as you don't mind usuing .WMA files, it's fine.
You can change your preferences so that you rip music into mp3 form. That's what I do, and that may be why the burner doesn't work as well as it should. I just burned Arcturus' The Sham Mirrors to cd, and it did turn out fine.

Drugstep 07-22-2005 12:50 PM
I fit a CD with 79:25 seconds onto WMP.
Well, it didn't work for me, so I ad to use some obscure CD burner that came with the computer.

Man, ever since I got Lateralus, I'm dissapointed when I buy albums that are less than 60 minutes, because it feels like I'm getting shorted half a cd. :( Most of the albums I've bought recently have been lengthier than most though.

Lunch 07-22-2005 12:57 PM

Good thing you don't like classic rock. Most CR cds are around 40 minutes long if they don't have some added bonus tracks in, because albums could only hold about that much.

Lately, I've been downloading two forty minute CD's by the same band, and then burning them on one disc and just making it under 80 minutes, which is cool. I did that with the first two doors discs.

Lunch 07-22-2005 01:05 PM

I don't usually download music, and also I have an mp3 player so I don't need to compress two discs into one. That is a good idea however.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-22-2005 01:08 PM
I don't usually download music
How could you when your connection craps out every 2 minutes?

/auditions drugged up squirrels

Drugstep 07-22-2005 01:09 PM

I don't download music much either, but when I did that I hadn't even heard any Doors, so it seemed a good idea to download instead of buy CD's not knowing whether or not I'll like them. Ultimately, I find the CDs to be decent. I also download Heavy Metal that isn't easy to buy around here. But even still, (Rix) I hardly ever download, except a few tracks from YSI thread.

When I make CD's like that, though, I find it hard to not listen to both albums all the way through, because it feels like one album. It's cool though, because if I want to exercise for eighty minutes I don't have to change discs.

I'm looking into buying Quadropheniac off of eBay...
