a friend is a ibanez fanatic - for him ibanez is the best guitar-brand in the world. when i started playing guitar he was the one who gave my tips and thats why i bought an ibanez. its good to start with, but i will never again buy an ibanez ... i just don't like the models - and the only models that i like are the prestige series who are too expensive :p
I don't shop for guitars based on brand or price. I just pick up and play everything. Get which I like. |
lol @ u
haha. Try again. |

I'm still lol'ing at your failure to poke fun at me. |

I'm Charming, since im soon getting a new guitar what should i get, a seven or six string? the only reason why i want a seven is because i really want to learn nevermore songs but i dont want to pay extra just for that reason. think the 7 string is worth it?
whats your name by the way? |
I don't shop for guitars based on brand or price.
I just pick up and play everything. Get which I like.
thats what i do too. when i was buying my first guitar i had two choices: Squier or Ibanez GSA60. i took the Ibanez. Now i played a lot of other guitars: Ibanez, Gibson, Fender, Jackson, Ltd and the only one which i really like are Jackson. beside that Jackson is the only brand who is producing his "cheap"-guitars in Japan!! |

If I was trying to make fun of you I'd surely say something more aggressive than "lol @ u". |

whats your name by the way?
The question wasn't directed at me, but here goes. I'm not a huge fan of 7 strings...they gob up my playing style (although that could be due to the fact that I'm still quite clumsy with a pick in my hands) and you never use the low B unless you're playing music that's dropped that low. Then, you will probably be hopping over strings a lot more when you're in drop B. My advice (that you don't have to follow if you don't want to): Six string without a floating bridge or locking tremolo system. It's quite easy to downtune any guitar with a string-through bridge. |
does anybody knows if the Jackson DXMG has a locking tremolo system?
|
alright cool. thanks. i shouldve asked the question for everyone but i asked im charming only cuz a while ago he gave me some advice on what guitar to get

Dude. Go to guitar center. Play all the guitars. See what you like and don't. IE, Do you like thin necks? A certain feel of the bridge, fret board feel? Find what you like on a guitar and then look for something with all those. Metal wise: Jacksons & Ibanez are your best bet. Stay away from FR though. That's all I have to say. EDIT: Go for 6 string. 7 string aren't very useless in MOST cases. |
FR's are great. Laziness is what kills the use of them.
|

No. My Ibanez stays in tune WITHOUT FR than my jackson with FR. Plus it's much easier to change tunings. 5 seconds a string WITHOUT 2 + minutes each string with FR Unless you dive non stop, it doesn't help. |
No.

They seem essentially useless to anyone who doesn't whammy much/at all (me). |
I nenver whammy, but the locking is nice to keep it in tune no matter what. It helps that I have a second guitar without tremolo too.

With an FR, you spend much less time tuning. I'm betting your Ibanez has a fixed bridge. |

FR does keep your guitar in tune. Not very long though. It takes forever to put into tune change tunings etc etc |
In my experience, FR falls out of tune much easier than string-through. I could've been dealing with a few rotten apples, but either way, I much prefer my string-through Schecter. It's also much, much easier to change strings than FR, which is something even a seasoned FR user cannot deny, Shadows.

My FR never falls out of tune. Like Mitch said, it only takes him a couple minutes to tune. It's the same with me. I'm used to dealing with an FR so I can do it pretty quickly now. Changing strings takes me no longer than a string-through guitar.
Fixed bridge meaning? It's strings through the body. FR does keep your guitar in tune. Not very long though.
To each his own then, I suppose. Arguing over personal taste in guitar bridges is slightly ridiculous, anyways. |

Fixed bridge = no tremolo
Correct. It doesn't. I don't need/want that though. I have to disagree on the FR. It takes far longer to un screw, push string in, lock up with allan wrench, tie and tighten at top. String through Body guitar: Push string through body, receive through bridge, tie and tighten at top. Basically like an acoustic. |
what guitar do you play ShadowsFallen? and what guitar does Mitch has?
what guitar do you play ShadowsFallen? and what guitar does Mitch has?
The guitar I use most often is a Jackson DKMG, but I also have an RR5. |
RR5= Randy Roads V?
Those are sweet btw.
Yep. I like having a string-through and an FR. Plus together I get a really wide variety of sounds. And Randy Rhoads guitars are so metal. \m/ |
