thank you all knowlegeable one

i shall talk to you on some other day about this awesome band known as Metallica

fatbandit 06-13-2005 01:50 AM

Its doubtful they'll play My Friend Of Misery.

It was Jason's song. He based his solo around it live, so the full song never got played. Rob suggested it for tha MIAWTW tour, but the guys said no, because it was Jason's.

:smash:

BassMasterMike88 06-13-2005 07:00 AM

^ ^
Is it true that they let Jason have a hand in writting Blackend? I heard that somewhere way back.

Chu 06-13-2005 07:52 AM

Yes, I believe he did.

I think he brought what he had wrote to Metallica with him, and they finished it off together.

Well they had to have written some of it, so they could play the song, right?

*My Friend of Misery is my favorite Black Album track*

I personally think they should play Metallica - The struggle Within, It would be a good song to play :thumb:

And Metallica must have liked Blackened because they did choose it to open the album! It is a song the band seems to respect.

Whale and Wasp 06-13-2005 08:43 AM

whats even on it?

Chu 06-13-2005 09:04 AM

Various videos of Cliff playing. It's not really worth it if you want a concert with decent sound/visual quality. It's just there for Cliff's fans I think (It's worth it though, Cliff is/was a God, in my opinion at least).

Kyle 06-13-2005 09:07 AM

yeah thats pretty cool, worth having if your a real fanboy i suppose.

fatbandit 06-13-2005 09:15 AM

Wouldn't say God.... God among men at a push :p

I'm a bassist, and he doesn't come close to the greats, but he suffers from what all young, dead musicians do. He had the potential to be somewhere near the greatest. Having said that, don't get me wrong. One of my favourite bassists, ever, and especially as a person. Everything I've heard or read about him is good. If I could aspire to be as good a person as that, I'd be a better person I think :)

Cliff 'Em All is good though, I prefer it to S&M (the only other Metallica DVD I have).

And yes, the other guys had a hand in writing My Friend Of Misery, but its the respect thing I think. Like they don't play Orion. That was Cliff's song. It would be cool to see them do either of those though, especially with Rob including part of Orion in Junglessence, I wouldn't be surprised to see it surface...

Alright, I pretty much know nothing of metallica. I liek hard rock and some metal, have heard Mettalica's S&M and loved it, and figured I would liek to listen to some other Metallica songs. For someone jsut getting into metallica, what would be a good list of songs to listen to? (hopefully with somewhat limited profanity, although I don't midn ti that much).

I would assume that such songs as Enter sandman and MOP should be on the list? I dunno though, I am clueless.

Thanks in advance for the help

RustedPieces 06-13-2005 02:22 PM

I would say
Master of Puppets
Enter Sandman
Orion
Fuel
Unforgiven I
Unforgiven II
Those are some of the more mainstream ones anyways.

Phil Anselmo 06-13-2005 04:34 PM

are they gonna release another album soon?

RustedPieces 06-13-2005 04:36 PM

Sometime next year I think their next album is coming out.

eXecrate666 06-13-2005 05:27 PM

What do u guys think the new album will sound like? U think another anger = ( , or a good old skool album = D ?

Huber 06-13-2005 05:31 PM

Neither. It'll be something different. People will bitch about it and label it soemthing like Nu-Metal to make it look bad so they can have a reason to hate it, when in reality, it'll probably be a fine piece of music. Just different. The chances of them doing what they did in the 80s is very slim.
What do u guys think the new album will sound like? U think another anger = ( , or a good old skool album = D ?
I accually know a guy who quite often speaks to the members of Dream Theatre and Metallica... He is the singer in a band called Beatallica.. He speaks to Lars mainly...

Well, the new album is set to be a tad heavier than the previous album, and have more of a tight solid sound to it... As far as I know terrorists did sieze and destroy Lars's piccolo snare drum, so it is unlikely that will be a part of the next album. It really depends on the Negotiations :thumb:

RustedPieces 06-13-2005 05:33 PM

Lars said that he doesn't want to do another Master of Puppets because thats when he lost his virginity, and i guess he finds it embarassing or something.

What do u think the chances are in Tallica realeasn an old skool album?

Huber 06-13-2005 05:39 PM

That's cool. I imagine there cool guys.

eXecrate666 06-13-2005 05:41 PM

And also do u think that Rob being the new bassists will play a role in the recording at all? idk just a thought but what if maybe he likes the old stuff better and maybe, just maybe he kind of wakes metallica up and make them go back to their roots

LarsAgi007 06-13-2005 05:45 PM

I know this new album is more old skool than previous releases, but they will never do another Kill Em all, or RTL ect: Once an album is done.. It has been done. They always changing sounds as you know... But as I say this album is going to be along the old skool lines yes... (Almost I would say)

And yes, Rob being the new bassist will almost definatly have a large impact on Metallica, Just put their previous bassists in order, and look at how much the CD's have varied with one bassist to another...

**Is off to bed**

p.s, I may try and talk him into giving me more Metallica goss :thumb:
