I've realized a long time ago that I'll never be satisfied with my playing. This is really the driving force behind my practice sessions.
|
neither i will be... i only reached a speed i wanted to reach when i started to play guitar... i stuck for a long time at 100bpm and tell me how many good songs are 100bpm fast? with 150bpm i can play lots more songs...
|
Shall I record a small Paul Gilbert solo that's about 190bpm?
lol |
yeah that links works, thanks

Set the delay to 316.90 milliseconds. You need to play each note very staccato other wise it'll ring out and that's how the delayed note will sound so it'll end up very sloppy, especially at higher speeds. If you check my recording of Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee, you'll hear me playing 8th notes at 200bpm and actually, the hardest part about it was keeping every note staccato while giving each note a good volume and tone otherwise it would have sounded terrible and sound like a big mush. It takes alot of very quick movements to stop the note immediately after it's played so you might need to practise that. I don't know why he called it Bodom sucks, he was complaining about how bad they played it and how Roope forgot a part and it was very sloppy. That's complete bull, that played it perfectly fine. |
PG solo... yes pls, though i would be jealous about your playing :p
 |

Hehe, expect it later. I'm going to record I Like Rock off of Burning Organ. And yep, I just checked, 190bpm! But it's really damn easy for me to play it... I even changed the solo to one that's faster sounding and I'm going to play everything all in one track, and actually record 5 seperate tracks. :p Let's just hope I can play it all in time each time eh? |
Hey, i have a question for you guys..
I'm thinking about getting this Dean 7 string vendetta, with x2n in the bridge from a dude on mx. He accepted my offer for 150. should i do it? Mitch, i can't believe that you recently play only 1h daily... you're progressing really fast and your playing is getting better each week!
do you have a link? (thread?) |
I'll record it later when I get back from going out on my bike. Heh, sometimes I don't even practise at all.
Kurrpt: 150 is pretty cheap for a decent guitar, I'd say go for it, especially if you'd be getting a 7 string back. |
Guitar forum.
But i guess its not a bad deal. |
its all about the level of practice, not the amount.
Yea, i think im going to go through with it. That one pup is worth 60-80 alone  |

i would buy this guitar!

O, i almost forgot :D
My first CoB shirt arrived in the mail yesterday. I completely forgot I ordered the damn thing, and there it was. I got the black/green one for the hatebreeder album. I can't wait to piss some old people off with it on Friday when i wear it to work |
Nice, wear it with pride. :thumb:
I might order the HCDR tour shirt soon. |
damn skippy. I think my TOoL shirts got scared in the same closet with it
My Dream Theater tour shirt had to be moved to the other side |
i still don't have a CoB shirt... most of them jsut don't appeal to me.
i have two nin-shirts, one sunn o))) shirt and a morbid angel shirt...thats all |
crazy talk...
I really wanted a Hatebreeder shirt, considering the vast amount of times I've listened to that CD, and have yet to pay money for my own copy. The more I hear Hatecrew, Deathroll the more it makes me want to buy that shirt as well. I really dug the back graphic on the T-shirt I got yesterday. Its the quote from track one off hatebreeder (Warheart) |

yeah... once again... my next 1,000th step will be ITT :thumb:
what i wanted to say, through my break on guitar, i watched a lot of guitarvids recently and thought on what i really want to learn. what purpose i have as a guitarist, which style... so maybe this break isn't that bad there is a saying: you don't see the forest, cause you see only trees. now i think i started to see the forest again.... :D /4,000th post |
putting things in perspective definitely helps*
* to keep you sane :D |
no, i'm not sane and will never be... i think i once again doing something wrong
|
hey man, at least you eventually arrived at that conclusion.
You have to figure, I'm a good deal older than you |
yeah, you are... you are one of the oldest, aren't you? as far as i remember in our last "average-age-thread" the average was between 16 and 17/18?
|
im 24...
im just saying you getting bent out of shape, well, that should put it into perspective for you I started SO late that I've always felt i'm playing catch-up |
when did you start playing?
hm... "getting bent out of shape" ... what does that mean? |
perturbed ; angry; losing your composure ; full of rage ; livid (just from the top of my head)
I started when i was 21. 26 months ago actually |
hm... but i still don't know what you wanted to say through this....
26months ago... holly ****... you learnt all this stuff in such a short time?! did you have played another instrument before or some theory? |
not at all...
I have an obcessive nature when it comes to things I'm truely interested in. For me, it was all about breaking down my technique, and rebuilding. I think i've done that about 40 times now. I should have kept track, but every time i take 2 steps back, i always wind up learning something new, or realizing something that just helps me get better overall. I don't have some misguided pipe dreams. I know i will eventually "not suck" edit : what I was trying to say about that "getting bent out of shape" was that you making this realization, to me, seems like you should have arrived at that conclusion previously, and were some how getting upset over it. I was saying that for your age, compare that to mine, and it should make you feel better Every time i make that big JUMP in terms of progression, it always seems like the stupidest detail I've over looked countless times. Any time I make that realization, I do feel a little stupid |
you can be proud of yourself breaking your technique down every time and start rebuilding it... not everyone has the nerves to do so.
i for myself want to progress and be able to say "i don't suck", and i won't suck... never.... but give me some more time :p |
I recorded that song. Different method though, not 5 tracks, just the 2 rhythms and another one in the middle imitating the vocal line. I also tried doubling the solo an octave higher but it sounded too empty and kinda weird so I scrapped that. I dno if I want you to hear it though, it's kinda crappy.
|
lol dude, I know how it goes. :smash:
I tabbed it out without the delay because I though you were trying to play the delayed notes aswell and you were having trouble.
yeah i know lol i was just sayin is that the right delay timin. anyways, pretty much nailed the hate me solo now. my band plays a few bodom songs, so we're probably gonna record some for fun, il put the site up when there done. recordin downfall at the mo, give our keyboardist a blast. |
I need to learn some more Bodom soon.
|
i just talked to a medicine student from my floor and she told me not to move my wrist. not even my fingers. so i have to type everything with my right hand :(
i have to rest it completely for 3-4 days - the best thing would be a cast/gypsum (?)... whatever. afterwards i should slowly move my wrist again if its ok.... so one more week (it happened last week... 7days ago i played for the last day guitar) whatever, i prefer not playing guitar for 2-3 weeks instead of have a chronical wrist problem :upset: |
I used to have similar problems with my elbow. It's a bitch to work out the kinks, thats for damn sure
|
