Stevie II 06-11-2008 12:36 PM

nor is nirvana - their first album is actually pretty good. discarding their first album is like discarding metallica for load.

Bordello 06-11-2008 12:37 PM

ATM 06-11-2008 12:37 PM

in school i was on the fringes of the nu metal crowd and hated their slipknot culture and considered it laughable and that kept me away from metal and into rap until i was about 15 when i first heard nirvana and because a big nirvana fanboy until i heard master of puppets and slowly got into more extreme metal.

actually nirvana itself is pretty good original stuff but discarded for its popularity.

I had a ton of phases, though.

Lil' ATM: pop stuff
Middle School ATM: hip hop and mainstream rock
High School ATM: hip hop for the first half, classic rock for the second half
Community College ATM: started posting on MX which lead to a lot of progressive stuff and a small bit of metal, as well as a lot of indie stuff
Current ATM: only the elite from my favorite genres

132WalrusesInMexico 06-11-2008 12:52 PM

My musical taste evolution went like this:

-Punk/Pop punk (Blink 182, Green Day, Sex Pistols, Ramones)
-Classic Rock (Zeppelin, Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who)
-Progressive Rock (Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic)
-Progressive Metal (Opeth, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation)
-Death and Black Metal (Rotting Christ, Bloodbath, Death, Amon Amarth)

I still listen to all of these except for the punk stuff.
