Joe 03-23-2005 09:36 PM

yea i just made this setting on my amp that i really like. it's got 9 distortion, 8 bass, 5 mid, 8 treble, no effects, 4/10 reverb

Endless Obsession 03-23-2005 09:38 PM

i put gain up all the way and i put up tone to 10/10, sounds amazing on my guitar, but ive been playing like all lamb of god recently. Drop D sounds so much better with the gain up all the way. I hate reverb so i never put it on unless its like a song that needs it.

When i play things like ratm i put my distortion on like 5/10 and for hendrix or pink floyd it gets turned to like 3/10. I dont use a pedal i just use my amp straight up cause i love the sound.

i cant seem to get my bass,treble,mid to sound right all the time, any suggestions on that?

Joe 03-23-2005 09:42 PM

i go 8 or 9/10 for metallica. for things like zeppelin ill bring it down to 5 or 6 and for other things like pink floyd i do around 2.

i've got a great clean tone on my amp, so sometimes i use my pedal (which i love, metal zone by boss) but also my amps got great distortion

guitarcreep13 03-23-2005 09:44 PM

Ahhhh, I found my book which talks about this kind of stuff.

Key:
I=Imput
B=Bass
M=Mid-range
T=treble
O=Output (Master) volume

(all max is 10)
1.) Neutral settings:
I=5, B=5, M=5, T=5, O=5

2.) Treble-Heavy settings
I=5, B=5, M=5, T=9, O=4

3.) Bass-Heavy settings
I=5, B=8, M=5, T=4, O=4

4.) Gentle Distortion
I=7, B=5, M=5, T=5, O=4

5.) Crunch
I=10, B=5, M=6, T=8, O=3

6.) Mute Distortion
I=10, B=5, M=3, T=3, O=5

no offense man but i fuckin hate the sound of that pedal. its so scratchy sounding and i think its just bad. I like the full and powerful sound over that sound.

do u have 1 or 2 bass drums?

Huber 03-23-2005 10:31 PM

I have a Taye double pedal...if I had an iron cobra I'd cream my pants. My Taye one is good though. I really like Taye stuff, good quality.

Huber 03-23-2005 10:31 PM
do u have 1 or 2 bass drums?
If he's using a double pedal, why would he have two bass drums?

i only put my double kick on when i need it,other wise its off,i hate double kick,its cheating,i only have it on like 20% of the time,other than thaqt its single and that would answer if i have 1 or 2 bass drums

thelittledrummerboy 03-23-2005 10:44 PM

I only have a single kick but it's ****ed so i thought that if i was to get a new one i might as well get a double kick, I don't fancy them all that much but there fun to play and a good skill to have.What sort do you guys have?

vashts80 03-23-2005 11:28 PM

Double kick is cheating? Well, I'll be ****ed.

Can one explain how double kick is "cheating"?

larsROCKS 03-24-2005 03:57 AM

ok every one does any one know when metallica is touring australia next??

larsROCKS 03-24-2005 04:00 AM

double kiking isnt cheating as long as you play it well. theres nothing worse than dble kiking then it isnt needed. i have a iron cobra double kick, if your going to buy one dont waste money on a cheap one it will make it harder to learn, just get a half decent one

LarsAgi007 03-24-2005 04:09 AM

I couldn't agree with you more, a cheap one is, as i say cheap, but it will be a matter of weeks before your trying to sell it so you can get a better one lol

p.s, i am losing the poll to steerpike??? lol, His jokes are classic, you saw them in the musical jokes thread?

Six Foot Revolver 03-24-2005 05:47 AM

I don't even know what double kicking is :upset:

Blernster 03-24-2005 05:51 AM

true that.

badtaste 03-24-2005 06:11 AM

I wonder what Metallica are doing now...? Maybe, swimming in their pools of cash? Or still goldplating their property?
I wonder what Metallica are doing now...? Maybe, swimming in their pools of cash? Or still goldplating their property?
Perhaps so. They have the money to do it, unlike you.

Bit of jealousy eh?

Oh yeah, definitely. My friends and I are starving all over the world, and barely have enough clothes to cover ourselves.

But oh well, keep waiting for 'St Anger 2', fellow Selloutallica fans!

Yeah, cause I really like Metallica after the Black Album. So they have loads of money, big ****ing deal. So do many people who don't deserve it. Why don't you think of something constructive to say or just **** off.

you mean what metallica "is" doing now? they're recording

Thor 03-24-2005 09:00 AM

I think after St. Anger came out, Metallica hopefully realized that this isnt the kind of music that their die hard fans want them playing. They want the good old metal from the 80s, not the modern age crap rock from the 90s.

Thor 03-24-2005 09:43 AM

Yeah, they were never really one to follow the crowd, at least back in the 80s. They were actually controversial back then.

KILO5203 03-24-2005 10:08 AM

It would be cool if they went back to the old stuff, but I'm not all that worried about how it's gonna be. I'll probably like it, 'cuz I've liked all the others.
