Being from Eastern North Carolina I have seen first hand what the eastern part of the state has to offer. What does the Western North Carolina scene have to offer?

ATM 06-11-2008 08:35 AM

Oops, sorry about the double post Jason.

:-/

How are you on this fine day? I'm signing up to work at a film festival next week. It should be really cool, and Spike Lee will be there :D

Riva 06-11-2008 08:36 AM

No worries, C to the Hris. I'm doing okay, just writing up this final chem report. It's looking pretty snazzy so far, but it has a reference list that is growing by the minute. :-/

It'd be pretty cool to meet Spike Lee!

ATM 06-11-2008 08:40 AM

Chemistry is hell, I have no desire to ever study it ever again.

Yeah, it should be pretty cool if it all works out. Unfortunately the training session for the volunteers is the same day I was supposed to go out on a fishing trip with my girlfriend's family.

Riva 06-11-2008 08:42 AM

Ouch, conflict of priorities. :-/

And I love chemistry, it's just that this is one of those really wordy reports without much to actually plot or tabulate. I like making pretty graphs and tables. :(
Man, if you could make it a Warhammer 40k themed AFL game, I'd give you $10.
Bloodbowl?

Riva 06-11-2008 09:06 AM

AFL has a bit more finesse. If Gridiron is analagous to Orks, then AFL is analagous to Eldar/Dark Eldar.

Holy **** you and I are colossal nerds, Josh.

AA-12 06-11-2008 09:08 AM

Man, I really, really need to get back to making my CSM army. It was looking pretty grim before

There's not a single black person at that film festival.
Nah, Carlton Blues as in the colour blue. ****in' Victorians, amirite? I'm tossing up whether Pulse or Tactix is the worst mascot. Tactix sounds like a failed Sega Genesis videogame.
Tactix definitely, that is so terrible. The best sporting team name I've heard it the Pumpkin Pickers. They're a league club in the Newcastle comp. In fact, if you watched the origin telecast closely you might have noticed Greg Bird named them as his junior club when they do the naming teams thing.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I always root for the little countries no one cares about.

rid 06-11-2008 12:01 PM

Sure. :p

Eh well, as long as they don't win the whole thing, I guess...

AA-12 06-11-2008 12:01 PM

One of my biggest problems in life is that I continually kick myself for stupid stuff I've done in the past. So when I was going through the MX archives I was phobic of looking at the threads I myself started in my 5 years of being on MX. When I looked towards LordDargon's past I was surprised. Really surprised actually. I think the first thread I started (thanks to searching being disabled is now just a "think") was asking for recommendations of bands similar to Nirvana. I started out oblivious to extreme metal and metal in general and I have MX to thank for getting me into extreme metal. It appears Dargon started out similarly. He posted a thread looking for where to start in black metal; asked what all this tr00 stuff was about; listened to Nile, Behemoth etc etc. Go see for yourself...

So I looked at my own threads and found that they weren't as bad as I thought they might've been. 5 years ago there was far more internet n00bary than there is today - threads that wouldn't be tolerated now were then common. The evolution of the internet I suppose.

rid 06-11-2008 12:15 PM

Very interesting. Thank you.

repcak 06-11-2008 12:16 PM

no, the evolution of these ppl in here!

My Evolution was the same... back when i started to post I listend to Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica... see what I listen now! Most of the stuff won't be on my harddisc without MX.
Beside of that, the ppl in here "stayed" and the noobs are still in our ages... realized that just WE are the internet generation?! If you have made an "how old are you" thread 5 years ago, most of the ppl, were about 16-18 - and now? 21-23... thats it - don't forget it.

indeed - not nearly as many 15 year olds on now as there were 5 years ago.
its like that with internet speak

5 years ago everyone typed slow so abbreviated everything
then everyone got pissed off at that illiterate stuff and demanded full spelling and perfect grammar
then everyone got tired of that and regressed into good wording but no grammar like this post

gmoneyguy 06-11-2008 12:20 PM

I was a CR fag when I first came here.

AA-12 06-11-2008 12:21 PM

My taste was horrible when I came here. Like a year okay it was decent but not great. Now it's as good as I could ever imagine.
