Im in a Classic Rock/Metal band.
We play Maiden, Metallica, G'n'r and also more modern stuff like DT and Alter Bridge. Our guitarist also sings, i honestly dont know how he can be so good. Hes been playing 13 years and can honestly do anything.
Wanna swap guitarists? :naughty: |
Btw, im a drummer in the band i mentioned above.
But i play guitar in a small punk band. We rock! |
Do you play an instrument? I'd always be willing to replace one of my lazy band members...
Yea, I play bass, and I mainly like to play blues rock type thingies. You know heavy on the pentatonic scales :p |

Sounds like my kinda bassist. :thumb: |
Speaking of unholy blackened thrash metal,

Yep, pentatonic scales are pretty much the key to blues improv, just throw in some bends and shit and you can impress the musical retards. |

Well what you should've done was: Stolen 15 biological weapons from a military base. Set up a base on Alcatraz using a crack team of US troops. Demand that they let you sing or else you reign bilogical terror on San Fransisco. It never Fails :) NP: Scatman John - Scatman's World |

In fact they started to want to get rid of me after I complained about them forcing me to strum the e-string like a retard. It was one of those Sid Vicious kinda deals. I found out I was kicked out of the band by reading an ad in the paper, kinda harsh since despite them being dicks they were my old friends. |

The great thing about having 15 biological weapons at your command is that not many people challenege to about anything. If they do, threaten to reign biological terror on them. It's a tried and tested method :) |
But what about Connery?
You're just sitting there waiting for [insert authority here] to respond to your demands and then out of the sewer system emerges the man himself who promptly decimates your whole operation. Whilst wisecracking and carrying Nicholas Cage |

Man I did some heavy pentatonic jamming today. My fingertips are raw. |

My good bass is at my dad's and I haven't been there in like a week and a helf, so I haven't been doing much jamming lately :( |

Bummer man. I hate when I leave my guitar at my dad's and can't play for a few days. |

What kind of bass do you play? |
I have a question as I keep forgetting...
...Is the amount of rep you give your repx.02, or your postcountx.02  |
Hello!
I play guitar and I've been trying to start a band. We have a singer/guitarist, guitarist, and bassist. We found an awesome drummer, but unfortunately, he has a crush on me and is without a drumset. I'm the only one in the "band" that really knows anything about playing (all the others learned everything they know on guitar from me). The worst part is that I'm not very good yet...I've been playing about thirteen months or so. At first, they all wanted to make emo-type of music because that's pretty popular around here, so I realized I had to do something before I had to kill myself. And I am proud to say that I successfully turned on three people to classic rock/blues rock/hard rock.:) |
What kind of bass do you play?
My first bass was a Hamer, which is now de-fretted, but it's still pretty shitty. And my good bass is a Jay Turser Viola bass. They're not a very well known company, but they have very good quality for the price. I personally love it because it's very easy to play, sounds beautiful, and is light-weight. |
Just out of curiosity, how many of you are actually in bands/are musicians?
I am also in a band, called Obscurity, like my username as well. We are somewhere in the area of haevy prog rock (?) I would guess. We play only originals and have 20 songs as of now. There is not a huge scene for original music in my area, but the shows are awesome when they happen. |

I remember when I was in this sort of weird alternative band, and the lead singer brought in a female guitarist (just cause he had a crush on her, not for her playing which wasn't that great). It was so weird to be in that kind of environment, and then she asked the lead singer if her friend (also a girl) could be in the band. I got kicked out and replaced by a female bassist...she couldn't write anything if you put a gun to her head either. :upset: |

I know how that is. The scene in my area is mostly Nickelback rock, pop-punk, or indie rock. I'm sure if we didn't throw in a few covers we'd never get gigs. |

I'm in an Alternativ Funk band called "The Fat Deposits". Were a lot like Primus, just a bit more heavy and varied. And I'm also in a Death/Thrash band called "VeedBok". I play drums for both |

K thanx dude :thumb: |
I'm not in a band right now, but I am a musician.

Yeah it's tough, that Nickelback rock has infected everything. I used to be in a cover band, we had about 50+ songs and constant gigs. I just got tired of it after a while. I love playing originals, though. |
I have an Ibanez sr500 (bass) and a used Epiphone Special II (guitar).
/random |
We haven't come up with a name for our band yet. I'm the only one who's even thought about writing songs yet, but that's alright. I would like to get some experience playing on stage at a local hangout or something, but I'd have to go with another band (because I don't think this band is going to be ready to perform anything for quite a while). Our first song to play together will probably be Runnin' Down a Dream-Tom Petty or Highway To Hell.
