Right now I'm typing up my last chem report (yay!) and since my lecturer is NSW born and bred, I'm replacing every instance of the word red (one of the compounds I synthesised is a reddish-orange) with maroon. Should be fun. :p

You don't really choose an Origin team, you're born to it. It's called State of Origin because it's literally a competition between the players born or raised in Qld and players born or raised in NSW.

Carlton Blues as in the music genre? There is a hockey team from St. Louis who chose that as their mascot. There is also a Basketball team from Orlando that chose Magic as theirs.
