BY the looks of things, no. Only one casualty, and they think the bombs were actually only percussion caps, but it's still locked up london.

Arucard 07-21-2005 08:15 AM

I know, i only know about it because of The Pit. But thankfully i don't think anyone was killed.

Once again, sorry about the non-posting, i joined a crew with some Germans on MxO, and we kick major butt.
fuck, it absolutely sucks when parents set time limits as far as computer is concerned. She's 16 for god's (whose?!) sake!
I know. It's pretty annoying.

Computer Question
I'm about to have my HD formatted since it's full of bugs, crashes twice a day and in general doesnt work properly (I've tried to cleanse it, wasted 83 euros but nothing happened!). I've saved my mp3s in CD-Rs and I was wondering whether there is possibility for them to be infected and infect my formatted system...

Taste_My_Scythe 07-21-2005 09:02 AM

Hmm. I think your best bet would be to get an antivirus thing and scan it before you imput the files into your new computer. Just putting the cd into the computer shouldn't do anything even if they are infected.

Stoic 07-21-2005 09:05 AM

I hope so, according to my AV my mp3s are alright. I'm fed up with formatting twice a year :upset:

Twice a year? Goddamn...

Why does everyone think wireless modems are so great? They're abominably unreliable!

Mine is still disconnecting every other minute for no discernible reason.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-21-2005 09:16 AM

When I had internet on my computer (which I wish I still did), I had dial up. Oddly, it was ok. I only got logged off every once and a while. My parent's computer has broadband. :thumb:

RCA 07-21-2005 09:23 AM

My wireless modem has yet to bug out. I guess I'm lucky!

Steerpike 07-21-2005 09:24 AM

Bastard. Mine's due to black out in about another 30 seconds.

You can predict the time-outs? You've got it bad, my friend. :upset:

Steerpike 07-21-2005 09:31 AM

Actually, they're getting more and more erratic now. Never less then 2 minutes, but never more than 5.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-21-2005 09:32 AM

Oh my god, there have been more explosions in London today. Three underground stations.

I think you may be lying because I live in England and I have heard nothing of this and it isn't on the TV or anything

What he said. At least it isn't as bad as the last one, only one person injured and no deaths, but the poor Londoners. I can't imagine how shaken and scared some must be.

They seem to be pulling through it pretty well, though. Better than Americans take our crises, anyway.

Cartoonist Jon Kovalick gave his tribute to the Londoners in a comic that featured the (fictional) quote, "I've been blown up by a better class of bastard than this before."

Six Foot Revolver 07-21-2005 09:49 AM

Terrorists should GTFO of my country

From the sounds of it, it just sounds like your OS files are becoming messed up, the mp3s should be compeltely unaffected.

also, what OS are you using?

They do. BBC said that after the first explosions, people were still out in the streets and what not. I admire them for that.

This is encouraging :) Windows XP home edition (in greek) is what I use.

NJMetalMeister 07-21-2005 10:02 AM

Ive met many brits since ive been over here in Europe, and it is more or less just a different mentality. The british people just take situations in a different way than Americans (or even Germans) do because of the way their lives are from day to day.

Still, you have to give credit to the Brits for putting up with that.

What i want to know is why is london all of a sudden a hot target, i mean okay the G8 conference is one thing, but other than that?

NJMetalMeister 07-21-2005 10:03 AM

hmmm windows XP home usually does not require formatting that often. are you going to windowsupdate.com and getting all the service packs?

If not, there may be a corrupted file hidden on your install disk somewhere, that has happened to me in the past, but if you have had the disc for more than a certain amount of time, microsoft will not replace it for free due to the warranty expiring.

I don't loathe being American. I loathe this country and the way things are going with the stupid government and the way we are destroying everything. Americans in general, I think, have the tendency to be a nation of stereotype of typical teenagers: e.g. they think they are invincible.

no I dont go to windowsupdate.com, it slows down my PC and I cant stand it. I dont know whether it's a corrupted file or not the technician will tell. Unlike you I'm a retard when it comes to fixing computers :p

I'm not self-loathing either. I'm just upset with the direction the country and its culture are taking.

That's actually a good reason. I guess it would suck to be put under that stereotype.

This is what reality TV gives you. ;)

I do not want to start a political argument at all (being as i am one of the "assholes" that voted for bush), but ill make a very good analogy to state my opinion on this:

You are a huge baseball fan, your favorite team makes it to the world series, and gets beaten, just barely, like it made it to game 7 and the 15th inning, are you going to hate baseball now because you didnt win, even though there is always next time?

just food for thought.
