Greetings! Do any Regs in here know how to program drums?

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 12:57 AM

Funny you should say that, I'm doing it now.

Hmm How good are you?

Would you be interested in joining Jake (FuryInArt) and I with the current R&M contest?

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 01:04 AM

Well I'm the 2nd best drummer in my music class so I know what I'm doing.

What exactly are you guys doing?

The theme is "story of your life".

So an insturmental that projects each part life.

Pretty much in order.

Jake is doing the bass, I'm doing the guitar riffage and we need a drummer.

haha. Plus you're god on guitar. :p

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 01:08 AM

That sounds pretty cool. Throw me some riffs and I should be able to put something to them. What you using to sequence everything??

Good luck on that one. Phrasing will really help with conveying your message though.

Alright. Will do. I'm not sure yet. I guess he's going to mix them at his schools recording studio or something.

Which computer programs at edit multiple insterments into one track?

gmoneyguy 04-19-2006 01:12 AM

If you need some help with theory or how to phrase just give me a holler.

Alright. Thanks a lot. I might just have to do that.

Other than many of the notes on the fretboard I'm pretty empty in the tank with theory.

Cool Edit Pro
Cubase
Pro Tools

will do fine, which ever one he can get hold of.

I can program drum beats, but I'm a noob at eq'ing.

Check out my Bodom Beach Terror drums I did earlier:

I shall find a torrent for one of those.

EDIT: Nice nice nice. On those drums.

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 01:22 AM

Ta.

Cool Edit is the most basic.
Cubase has more advanced editing tools (apparantly)
Pro Tools is what Steve Vai uses (!), so you can't actually download the full version.

ooo ooohhho ooo0000ooOOOO ..... Steve Vai uses it!
lawl.

I think I'll dig up a torrent for Cool Edit.

Would it help if I sent the guitar pro files once I tab each part out?

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 01:32 AM

Yeah, I could at least add the drums in there too, it'd be easy that way.

Alright. Can you record with Cool Edit?

Or would I have to record with Audacity? Then mix?

gmoneyguy 04-19-2006 01:33 AM

Hey charming do you know what key you are writing this in?

MRDuCran 04-19-2006 01:37 AM
Alright. Can you record with Cool Edit?

Yeah Cool Edit is a multi track recorder.

After it's done, I could mixdown the drums to mp3 and record them into it as your backing track, then record over etc etc.
Hey charming do you know what key you are writing this in?
No. If it sounds good and blends together, that's how I'm rolling. :p

The cords sound like Major cords to me though.

D--7-9-12-
A--7-9-12-
D--7-9-12-

Those are the bar cords. I havn't done much. Just a couple riffs and jammed through a ton of stuff. I'll post the guitar pro tab tomorrow.

Alright. This is my first time writting/recording a serious song, so I'll be learning a lot. I don't mind learning though.

Those are fifths so they have no tonality. I'll help you with chord structures and stuff tomorrow over aim, but I really need to go to sleep otherwise I would help you now.

Thanks a lot man!

I'll add you.

I'm a theory n00b, I'm sure you can tell. :p

BTW: My guess on the cords was, they sound "warm" so I figured Major.

gmoneyguy 04-19-2006 01:42 AM

*chords btw
G'night all
