The Cows - Cunning Stunts

My mom was listening to some horribly polished modern country music, and I had the urge to listen to something that would make me feel unclean. This is doing just the trick.

Calexico - Garden Ruin

JonM 07-24-2006 02:01 PM
Calexico - Garden Ruin
That's a good, good record.

Today:

Depeche Mode - Music For The Masses
DCFC - Crooked Teeth EP
Butch Walker - Letters
Butch Walker - The Rise & Fall...

YDload 07-24-2006 04:06 PM

See user title + location. I've been trying to figure out how to play it on bass but as far as I can tell, it's just nine minutes of F#. Still I like the song so I can't help but play along :)

The Great Decay 07-24-2006 04:48 PM

Joshua Fit For Battle - To Bring Our Own End

I really like this record.

talk show host 07-24-2006 04:53 PM

Ratatat - s/t

The first few tracks are nice but it gets really samey after a while. Still looking forward to their new album though.

A friend sent me a couple of tracks from this band, they were pretty pleasant but nothing amazing. When does the new album come out?

It's out in a couple of months I think, but apparently it's already leaked to the net. Haven't found it yet...

Little Man being Erased 07-24-2006 06:58 PM

New stuff:

Wire - Pink Flag
Wire - Chairs Missing
Wire - 154
Prince - Purple Rain
Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
I Heart Hiroshima - Cut in Colour

So I've been digging those and all the sweet shit I saw at Splendour in the Grass.

Zebra 07-24-2006 07:20 PM

Herbie Hancock - Headhunters

This album is brilliant. Chameleon has such a cool bass line.

New Bomb Turks

This band can never be turned up loud enough.

That is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums.

I'm really loving the Wire albums so far. I haven't listened to 154 yet, but the first two are gold.

You'll basically same the way after listening to 154. It's only okay, where their first two are some of the greatest music ever made.

Zappa 07-24-2006 09:29 PM

Theoretical Girls' self-titled. This is really good, in places.

Happymeal 07-24-2006 10:24 PM

I've been getting into The Contortions among other No New York bands again lately, and that looks mighty interesting.

Zappa 07-24-2006 11:13 PM

I was reading about Branca, and the Theoretical Girls came up as his first band. No wave is awesome, and if you like No New York there'll be stuff on the Theoretical Girls compilation that tickles you a whole whole lot, and little to offend you.

Burmese - Preyer

A pretty cool sludgey metal band in the vein of Boris, but a little on the more abrasive-noisy side. Also, the latest Black Dice record has been playing alot.

Did you see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? I always assumed they were lame and never listened to them but they were ****ing sweet at Splendour. They had the worst crowd besides Wolfmother, but they were so damn cool. Karen O is both incredibly cool and incredibly unattractive.

Little Man being Erased 07-25-2006 02:22 AM

Yeah the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were awesome. They were great the first time I saw them too so I was expecting a good performance. How good was "Maps"?

I Was A Kaleidoscope 07-25-2006 02:39 AM

Limp Wrist - Want Us Dead EP
Oh No! Oh My! - Oh No! Oh My!
Pole - 45/45
I Heart Hiroshima - A 3 Letter Word For Candy
Ad Astra Per Aspera - An Introduction To...

& ariel pink is a genius.

Totally. The guitarist dude is a badass.

Interstate 07-25-2006 05:50 AM

Today so far:

Idlewild - The Remote Part
Rolf Harris - The Best Of Rolf Harris - I listened to most of this while I was getting ready for work this morning. It's, erm, strangely catchy, in a messed up sort of way.

Karen O is sooo hawt though  I'm still deciding whether to see them again at Reading Festival, Hundred Reasons are playing at the same time and I've never seen them.
