Splatterthrash is good, but Maniaxe was definitely better.

Shouldn't u like them then?

FatalEnergy 05-08-2008 03:55 PM

We Came for the Dead is my favorite.

Whatever though, Ghoul is one of the only thrash bands worth noting these days.

Nostalgia 05-08-2008 04:39 PM

Maniaxe is definitely the best... Numbskull is probably my favorite off it, with Ghoul Hunter placing second. I don't know though, it's a very strong album all together.

Never liked Splatterthrash, though.

Slayer released 3 Live-DVDs.
On one of the 3 DVDs there is this famous concert, where blood rains from above, while they are playing "Raining Blood" - which DVD is it?!

Nostalgia 05-12-2008 09:43 AM

Still Reigning is the DVD where blood pours on them. I used to watch it religiously when I was younger... still a good video.

That tour would've been insane to see..."Reign in Blood" played in full, holy **** it would be crazy.

At its best thrash metal can be brilliant. Reign in Blood, Ride the Lightning, Bonded by Blood, Endless Pain...but with such brilliance under the name of thrash, it would seem like thrash metal has a lot going for it. But when I look beyond a few brilliant releases, I tend to get a bitterly disappointing sea of boring, generic thrash that never matches the intensity of Slayer or Destruction.

Why is thrash metal so disappointing? There seems so much potential there from the structure and basis of thrash, so why have so few matched that brilliance? I sit here listening to Heathen, Testament, Mortal Sin, etc etc and I just here really boring, bland stuff.

That's the way I feel right now anyway. Does anyone else feel this way about thrash? Heh, maybe I won't find much agreement in the thrash thread.

Disclaimer: I do not know band X or band Y with some supreme thrash and speak only of my own experience.

illpressureurhinges1 05-13-2008 12:33 PM

So I just downloaded Municipal Waste- The Art Of Partying. Considering I've never really listened to much Thrash before, I really like it.

Stormrider 05-13-2008 12:54 PM

Stevie, I see what you mean. Holy Terror, Wargasm... stuff people love, and while they are still good releases, they aren't anything amazing by any means.

While the laughs of satisfaction echo...

ENDLESSSLYYYYY

/cue ****ing awsome riff

Bought Schizophrenia this weekend.

south_of_heaven 11 05-13-2008 07:22 PM

My friend pretty much hates all the thrash I play besides Slayer, Megadeth, or Metallica. I put in Municipal Waste today though and he was diggin' that.

Eliminator 05-13-2008 07:45 PM

well theres still some hope

i played "Unleash the Bastards" for one of my friends and he thought it was funny

RetiredAt21 05-13-2008 08:18 PM

That one riff in Unleash The Bastards is ****ing awesome.

Eliminator 05-13-2008 08:26 PM

FatalEnergy 05-13-2008 08:28 PM

RetiredAt21 05-13-2008 08:58 PM

FatalEnergy 05-13-2008 11:51 PM

Let's discuss Rigor Mortis. I re-discovered them a few hours back, totally forgot I had their self-titled.

They are sweet.

Agree y/n?

RetiredAt21 05-14-2008 09:46 AM

Yeah Rigor Mortis are good.
