Lord Abortion 04-10-2006 11:46 AM

Yeah, I was reading an interview with Bruce when he was getting a train somewhere...I forget where...

PAJJ 04-10-2006 11:56 AM

Was that bruce catching the train to metal hammer's golden gods. Where most other arrived in limos, horse drawn carridge/hurse etc..., and bruce came on the train.

Lord Abortion 04-10-2006 12:06 PM

Yeah, that it was.

Stormrider 04-10-2006 01:15 PM
Good you're getting X-Factor.
I sure am. Should have bought it on cavation when I had the money. Remember that long *** conversation on which Maiden album I should get in the PM thread a while ago :p

Yeah, I remember that. Oh what a hoot

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 07:27 AM

Just finished watching DOTR.

Bruce introduces FOTD with the worst joke ever on that...

It wasn't as good as what he did for us;
"Light goes on, light goes off....Just like that, Fear of the dark."

-The Frank 04-11-2006 07:35 AM

What was the quote like on DOTR. Also, how was pschendale and dance of death ?

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 07:40 AM

It was "Doctor doctor, I can't stand bright lights...why not? Fear of the dark"

Doesn't even make sense...
DOD and paschendale are predictably awesome.

NP-Thin Lizzy-The boys are back in town(live)

-The Frank 04-11-2006 07:51 AM

 wtf

in your oppinion, DOTR or RIR?

i<3 thin lizzy

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 07:53 AM

That's tough... I prefer RIR at the moment...but only just.

-The Frank 04-11-2006 07:57 AM

The one thing i really love about RiR is the intro+the wickerman combination, i always get goosebumps when they all jump in. How does wildest dreams+intro rate on a goosebump factor?
1-10

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 08:05 AM

I'd give it a good 7.5-8

Sounds like good stuff, i still have to wait till late may till i can get my hands on one :(

Wow, that sucks.

/has had DotR since Feb 6th:p

JamJar 04-11-2006 10:13 AM

RIR > DOTR mainly because of the best setlist ever. Sign Of The Cross, The Clansman and Dream of mirrors in one show is unbelieveable.

pep 04-11-2006 10:36 AM

Actually, thats why I didnt like RiR that much. It was cool, but some of those songs were too long for my taste when I watched it for the first time. Maybe now IŽll like it more.

JamJar 04-11-2006 10:50 AM

I'm generally a prog head and really appreciate the more lengthy pieces.

temporary 04-11-2006 10:55 AM

Meh, my only problem with RiR (and DotR) is that they're aren't enough oldies like Killers, Die With Your Boots On, or Powerslave, all of which I think would be amazing live. But its still one of the best damn music DVDs I've ever seen (I gave it a five in my Sputnik review.)

Another question: I already own the CD for DotR, is it worth it getting the DVD?

Edit: Yeah, I agree with JamJar, I love it when Maiden shows their prog colors.

JamJar 04-11-2006 11:31 AM

The DotR DVD is worth it enough to see them play the DoD songs.

I totally agree with you, some oldies would make them better.

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 12:00 PM

Yeah, I really want to see some of the less well known songs on the next tour.

blackthorne 04-11-2006 12:11 PM

is it just me or in DoTR does dave's guitar seem much quiter than the others.....

JamJar 04-11-2006 12:13 PM
is it just me or in DoTR does dave's guitar seem much quiter than the others.....
If you're talking about the DVD then the guitars are totally screwed unless I play them through my laptop. On the sterio version, you can barely hear Janick's and on the Surround Sound version, Dave's and Janick's are quiet.

Yeah, because H's is the center channel, so he seems louder.

Prince of Darkness 04-11-2006 01:47 PM

Ok, so I'm seeing Maiden live in December. Amazing.

But...

I have no albums of them! Only like 30 loose songs. No albums. Which albums do you guys recommend? I like:

The Wicker Man
Aces High
Number of the Beast
The Nomad
The Mercenary
Run to the Hills(duh)
Hallowed by thy Name
Two Minutes to Midnight

Yeah, so those are my favourite songs. What's the first album I should get?
or download.

JamJar 04-11-2006 01:57 PM

Brave New World, Number Of The Beast or Powerslave should start you off well. Make sure you buy them... or else.

EDIT: And cool avatar you got.

Lord Abortion 04-11-2006 02:05 PM

I would Recommend Seventh son, Piece of Mind and The X-Factor.

Stormrider 04-11-2006 02:08 PM

Ollie, are those you're favorite Maiden albums ?

Sorry if you've said this before, I havn't been posting in this thread for a long time.
