I'm not a particular fan of the rep system (except that it allows for a kind of PM system), so abusing it is fine. Just posting for 60+ posts about it is annoying.
Have you checked out Arghoslent, by the way, in your melodic death exploration? |
Someone was telling me about a death/thrash band that released an album consisting of only one song that was over 30 min. long, does that sound familiar to anyone? I forgot the name.
|
I know "I" by Meshuggah is about 20 mins long. *Puts it on*
And Tourin Shroud, eat your heart out :rolleyes:http://www.nbcsandiego.com/food/4150919/detail.html |
Yeah that song rocks, no way would I forget who Meshuggah is. This band was older though. |

Just trying to help :)
I completely lost interest in that song at 4 minutes in.
Eh, It's interesting from a techinical point of view. And some of the riffage in it is just brutal. |

NP ~ Torture Squad - Horror and Torture
Lost interest in I? That song rocks, especially the riff that comes in around the 10:30 minute mark. |

Eh, It's interesting from a techinical point of view. And some of the riffage in it is just brutal.
My view: Technicality can be interesting, but the music shouldn't ride on it. I have better options for finding good riffs than sitting through 20 minutes of men acting like robots. And from this follows that Meshuggah pisses me off. |
NP: Jimi - Voodoo Chile(not "Slight Return")
Speaking of music that doesn't ride on technicality.... |
The way I see it: If you have music that relies soley on emotion then you can have music that relies soley on technicality.

Music that relies solely on emotion? How the fuck do they play their instruments? |

They don't, but since there is such high emotion, you can just feel the musical vibes. |
Wild. Bands?
|
Right, i wish i hadnt made that ****ing Kerrang! letter thread.
These guys are trying to aruge against me, and are not reading my ****ing post, its ridiculous! |
Wild. Bands?
Listen to me, I do it very well. Here comes my insane guitar solo. |
The way I see it: If you have music that relies soley on emotion then you can have music that relies soley on technicality.
I like both. Sometimes I want to hear amazing technicality, sometimes I just want to hear something with feeling. Both are equally good, but if a band can have both simultaneously (ie. Tool) that is even better. |
Try Rebaelliun. Rage is an emotion, right?
|
Afternoon all. I trust you're all well?
whaddayamean, don't listen to Dargon?
Older Carcass owns, but Heartwork just isn't that good.
That's your opinion Dargon, others are entitled their's. |
I'm tierd as hell. Like yesterday.
|
That's your opinion Dargon, others are entitled their's.
Not according to Dargon :) EDIT: actually they are. It's just in most cases they suck. |
Lost interest in I? That song rocks, especially the riff that comes in around the 10:30 minute mark.
The whole song is amazing IMO, think about the beginning, it's so much more complex than it sounds cause of the distortion, and people are so dumb that they say that the distortion is hiding how bad they are. I thought that it was all simple riffage at first... until I listened to it with headphones, and then I could pick out the actual structure, and it's pretty impressive.
