Don't cry about it. So, I was wrong about not thinking you've listened to DT and I apologize. But it is understandable considering your comparisons of the members of the band with Symphony X. They both have very good musicians, but I happen to think that Symphony X are a lot cheesier and not nearly as good of songwriters. You don't know how to express an opinion as just that, an opinion. When you state your opinion as a fact, it makes me lose respect for you. However, I already had lost respect for you when you came in this thread and tried to tell everyone that Limp Bizkit's song "Everything" is a 16 min. long prog song that is very "Toolesque."
Okay and that was a mistake that I apologize for, I don't know what I was on. If you read any of my other threads you might respect me, after all a few people do. Also..... WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING WE WERE TALKING ABOUT AND WHY WOULD YOU REMEMBER THAT? If it helps I never recall you doing anything worthy of praise so you never had respect in my book.

I never cried about anything. I just think Symphony X are better song writers in general because they maintain technicality with out sacrificing catchiness and they know when to get egotistical. Mike Portnoy even admitted that when they first came out they tried to be the most pretentious, over-the-top progrock band. He said they wrote songs just to make them hard without even thinking about the songwriting at all.

Guys after seven days we finally got some news.I was expecting something big seeing there is a seven days news gap. Here you go copied straight from the tool page:

VOLTO!

Perhaps the hottest ticket in town, VOLTO! will be rocking the BAKED POTATO (3787 Cahuenga Blvd., West, Studio City, CA) this Thursday night, August 25th. Bring your purple pens, order an enormous spud stuffed with whatever as the band sets up, and try on one of the NEW Volto! t-shirts, but be sure to arrive early because the chances of somebody forgetting to bring their Paiste cymbals are a million to one. By the way, what happened to Danny Devito and family last week? They sure missed a good one… and first shot at those new t-shirts! For more info, call 818-980-1515. Hope to see you there.

well, with that many posts, it is obvious you dont come here often

Darkness 08-24-2005 09:42 AM

For the longest time I never posted, though I did browse the boards often.

I come here almost every day and my post count sucks. Often I just come to read whats being said, I have more stuff to do than post here a lot of the time.

agreed

i wasnt trying to come off "high and mighty"

i left this thread a while ago because the talk seemed a little too eccentric for my tastes. It seemed to be getting better, hence i came outta the wood work

Adam Jones is GOD 08-24-2005 10:29 AM

I've never found the posting here to go downhill, just change direction a lot

Darkness 08-24-2005 10:44 AM

I think it goes downhill a lot... but other times its the best on the forum.

well considering you prolly the most avid member here, i would say this isnt an uncommon response (double negative)

all the hypothetical discussions also dis-interest me

Case and point for why we can't talk about Tool all of the time.

...But then again, I'd also rather not talk about DT and Sym X...

^^ In response to A pig in a cage on antibiotics post about the vajra..

having done a pathetically short google search 'vajras' errr.. well have a look
( an excerpt from http://www.khandro.net/ritual_vajra.htm )

Vajra

" The word for the ritual implement held in the lama's right hand has been translated as thunderbolt but also diamond. The Sanskrit word vajra means adamantine, that is, "diamond-like." Therefore, besides being able to dent any object and overwhelm with its incomparable brilliance, the vajra or dorje represents great durability -- a hardness plus an immutability that is practically eternal. Ultimately, it stands for

The mystery of the mind, the omniscience, the pure awareness of all the Buddhas,
Indicated by a symbol of eternal strength and constancy,
The vajra heart of knowledge and emptiness is like the sky --
How wonderful to see the intrinsic face of reality! "

this is all very vague for me at the moment even if i wasn't up at 1 drinking cheap wine. something along the lines of meridians and/or energy/spiritual centres that exist within us (whether this is fact or not i don't know but i'm trying to go with my perception of the theme here) which will never cease to exist sort've deal..err if that makes sense.

but aside from all the Buddhist connotations .. relating a vajra and the colour red i immediately thought of chakras and in particular a sh!tload of Alex Grey's paintings/drawing which resemble the same thing along the lines of spirit/energy meridians within and around the body. alot of what he says and draws/paints is about self-discovery/soul evolution through creativity.

to have a guess at what the visionary realm is.. well.. i have no fvcking idea..
*does another quick google search*
here it is from the man.
http://alexgrey.net/essay/whatis.html

apologies if i wasted anyones time with this post, thought i'd give it a go
...or atleast rip off links off google.. which.. i basically did
anyway..
maybe i'll do more research later. peace :thumb:

bollocked a link

Anyone like Mastadon here?

I got Leviathon yesterday, I'm listening to it for the second time right now. It's nothing revolutionary, but definitely above average. Their drummer is insane.

Blizzink 08-24-2005 11:46 AM

My friend bought the Lateralus vinyl yesterday (and wouldn't stop ****ing bragging about it to me), and it's awesome. The artwork is nice, the dissectional man is on the bottom of at least one of the vinyls (I'm not really sure, he didn't really let me look at it much).

Darkness 08-24-2005 11:52 AM

I'm ganna pick that up on Friday... I can't wait.

Ænigma 08-24-2005 11:56 AM

I want the Vinyl so bad but I do not got paid until tommrow and I might not even get my money then because of my license. But I will get it.

maidenmetallica 08-24-2005 12:20 PM

I was wondering, why does everyone want the vinyl?
Tool rocks!
I was wondering, why does everyone want the vinyl?
Tool rocks!
i dont really care about it, seeing as i dont have a record player that works, but i guess it will have awsome art work, and it might be a collectors item (not sure how many they are releasing)

oh and i agree tool rocks!

EDIT to below: i think it came out august 23rd. i may be wrong, i might check it out on my way home from school today (just for kicks and to check the artwork)

ThePatient 08-24-2005 12:22 PM

Whoa, wait, the vinyl already came out?

BlindWriting 08-24-2005 12:27 PM

Actually I subscibe to MD, good magazine. I read that interview you mentioned, definitely a good read.

Blizzink 08-24-2005 12:28 PM

Yes, and I will have to get my hands on it soon just so I can say I own it.

However, I do have a record player or two, and I'm looking into getting a new one soon.

The guy that runs the Exclusive Company in West Bend said it had just came out and he only ordered one ( ). He told me he'd try to get another one but he probably won't, and if he does somebody else will probably get it. I'm still waiting on him to import In the Court of King Crimson.

kurrpt 08-24-2005 12:29 PM

well, if the vinyl is anything like the salival DVD, it could be worth 2-3 times as much, but i think its a bit different considering

ThePatient 08-24-2005 12:32 PM

Hmm, I'm going to have to rummage through my basement to see if we have an old record player. If not I'm taking a trip to goodwill.
