Lord Abortion 09-23-2004 12:27 PM

on this subject, for all players what is the most difficult maiden song to play you find... on any instrument
I play drums and Hallowed be thy name is very hard
HARRIS FOR GOD!!!

HondoII 09-23-2004 12:31 PM

the hallowed be thy name solo is ....

Thunder Fingers 09-23-2004 12:36 PM

I would say phantom of the opera.. but then, many of maidens instrumentals are probbaly harder than that, but i have never realy tried any of them yet...

deaconmicuk 09-23-2004 12:37 PM

Phantom of The Opera is hard to play, but I can manage it now, I've been playing 9 months now though, so that could explain it.

paddy_unsatisfied 09-23-2004 12:40 PM

judas be my guide baffles me. but i havent been playing that long. i think im going to get my teacher to help me with it. (Ive been playing long enough to be able to "play" it, i just cant work it out, i aint no novice  )

The Mercenary 09-23-2004 02:12 PM

judas be my guide is a fantastic song, i found it relatively easy to play, but i guess i have been playing a little longer.

off the subject, have maiden ever released a live version of 'seventh son of a seventh son' (the track!) with a single or anything, i'd love to hear it live!

ed hunter 09-23-2004 02:13 PM

on bass the intro the che clairvoyant is awkward because of the dead notes involved which i hate

GurS 09-23-2004 02:14 PM

judas is one of my favourite songs of FOTD

and, mercenary, check out Maiden England - the live video/cd of the seventh tour of the seventh tour

ashman 09-23-2004 02:44 PM

IMO Judas is one of the best songs on FOTD as well :D

Actually the Hallowed be thy name solo isn't that bad, it was the second solo I could play (after trooper).

The hardest riffs/songs that I have tried to learn are: Intro to Afraid to shoot strangers, getting the the harmonic gallop in killers right, the intro to aces high, the futureal riff and NOTB it is kinda tricky...

GurS 09-23-2004 02:54 PM

<3 the harmonic slide in killers. tis amazing live on Maiden England

ashman 09-24-2004 03:46 AM

yeh, 'tis good, its pretty cool on "Live at the Rainbow", but dave does something different, he actually plays notes on the top string.

What ever happened to the maiden army and how can I join?

I found this thread on the 4th page come on guys...

MostlyHarmless 09-24-2004 05:13 AM
Steve only use 2 fingers(me too :p i cant play with three for ****..)... and i schooled my teacher with that song(not to brag but he went like "um.. yeah... let me get my pick" :p) its not that hard realy... how long have you been playing?
ive had my bass for a ear but ive only had 5 months of lessons at 20 mins a week, if you watch the vidio on the iron maidne album it looks distictly like he uses 3 fingers. i tend to be able to lay most stuff with jsut my first finger which is good but i cant do that

Thunder Fingers 09-24-2004 04:08 PM

yes, it might look like that, but it is just his third finger following the rest of the hand...he have said so in interviews(i have the same thing.. never thought of it before someonementioned it..)

Yes, I've noticed it in my own two-finger playing; the ring finger is not very independent and will frequently flail along with the other two when they are moving very quickly and ferociously.

ed hunter 09-24-2004 05:10 PM

ah i need tow ork on 2 finger playing because i loose the timing with it because trying to work it al out its 1 more thing to concentrate on when you use 2 fingers

Ironclad_Sausage 09-24-2004 05:33 PM

How much u think tickets would cost to see an iron maiden gig? Just curious how much incase "The Early Days" tour comes around.

ed hunter 09-24-2004 05:40 PM

i dont know but the cost does not bother me i havnt been to see maidne and i wil do this time no matter the cost. i have no idea sorry.

have any of you heard the romours goign around about maiden doing ozfest what do you all think about it. ive also herd rumors its the last one with ozzy and its a donington but that was froma guy at school who pretends to knwo alot about everythign but doesnt

Ironclad_Sausage 09-24-2004 05:50 PM

I doubt it, ozzfest is ususally Heavy-er bands, but its not impossible. As for ozzys last ozzfest, It wouldn't suprise me cause you know, he's nearly cripple.

HondoII 09-24-2004 06:16 PM
hmm

EMI France confirms maiden tour for 2005.

June 24/25 will be the first date: Parc des princes - France
kinda answers your tour question right there

er.......No its very basic
How much u think tickets would cost to see an iron maiden gig? Just curious how much incase "The Early Days" tour comes around.
Well when I saw them in sheffield, I payed £46 for the ticket and travel...I think the ticket itself was £26...so its not that expensive. But expect to pay more if you see them at a festival. They are doing a festival tour next year, which IS the Early days tour (well they say the setlist is going to be from the first 3 albums).

"Er...now what do I say?"

"I dunno"

"Oh yeah, Maiden rules!!!"

The Mercenary 09-25-2004 09:00 AM

^

Yea i think i payed about £45 to see them at the 'download' festival (donington) in 2003

shadow_stalker 09-25-2004 11:36 AM
er.......No its very basic
depende on how hard you make it for yourself

but normally it is simple

ed hunter 09-25-2004 11:58 AM
I doubt it, ozzfest is ususally Heavy-er bands, but its not impossible. As for ozzys last ozzfest, It wouldn't suprise me cause you know, he's nearly cripple.
ok wel if you search on google for ozzfest 2005 7 of the top 10 results are to do with rumors to do with maiden doing ozfest would be col tho if it was ozzys last and maidne were there. itd be absoloutly huge every band would be there woudl be best concert ever i think
er.......No its very basic
Not Nickos Live version.

ed hunter 09-26-2004 09:08 AM

i dunno abotu the drumming. but from people who have lernt maiden i know it can be pretty hard

GurS 09-26-2004 12:33 PM

one of the hardest maiden drum beats is out of the silent planet. doing the triplets on the bass drum with one pedal is nigh on impossible.

ashman 09-26-2004 01:16 PM

NICKO FOR DEMI-GOD (after HARRIS FOR GOD)

ashman 09-26-2004 01:26 PM

ah nice

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 09-26-2004 05:04 PM

Ok I must know. What is your favorite Iron Maiden drawing/picture. Mine would either be the One with Ed holding the Devils head, The trooper of course, or the Run to the Hills one.
