he actually writes all the stuff basically.
why limit yourself to only having it be expressed through one prism of band members? |
Oh ya, that makes sense. I always new Trent was talented but I never new he was this talented - I'm impressed.
|
yeah... not everyone can do it... playing an instrument is one thing, but composing whole albums is another thing...
|
why should he? through this he has 100% control over his music... he is doing the drums, guitars, electronics, bass, etc. and so he can create exactly the music he has in his mind!!
I think he actually uses a drum machine for most or all of the "drums" . . . but he does play everything else. |
I've seen NINE INCH NAILS yesterday :D
my sister won tickets for the FM4 Frequency Festival in Salzburg. So we went there for free and yesterday NIN played. their song-collections was fantastic!! hold on your breath... Something i Can Never Have Burn Dead Souls La Mer Gave Up March of the Pigs (with some elements from PHM) Terrible Lie/Sin (i'm not sure) Head Like a Hole Closer alone Burn, Dead Souls AND La Mer live was more than worth it... in addition he played "the hand that feeds" and 3 songs of his new album, which i still don't have. Trent Reznor was pissed off once again, cause of stupid austria and fans: (this was after Closer) "Okay, so what's going on here? Let me guess, we got booked between two German bands and you are all just so ****ing bored. Maybe someone put something in your Wiener Schnitzel... you know, what assholes... you assholes are some fukking stupid... PIGS" ... great interlude for the March :D btw. on wednesday tool was the headliner, but they had to cancel it... keenan got sick... its the 4th time in my life that i miss Tool :upset: |
Everyone stood around looking bored?
|
yes; i was at the wide-screen some 200metres away from the stage.
the problem was that "Beatsteaks" (a famous german band) played before NIN, then NIN and afterwards "Die Ärzte" played and this is a fukking cult-legend-band for all austrian and german ppl. most of the ppl in the first rows weren't NIN-Fans, those were Ärzte-Fans... to stupid for NIN :( |
Shame.
I can't fuckin' wait for NIN to tour for Year Zero here in the US. I also just saw the cover for the Year Zero remix album. Anyone know when this is suppose to be out? Honestly, I'm not too psyched about this fan remix album. I having a feeling it's gonna end up being a mediocre album. Hope I'm wrong though..We'll see. |
All of his remix albums are terrible to mediocre.
|
I would kill to see The Great Destroyer live.
|
how does this song sound like... i don't know it and maybe nin played it last time.
|
Do you not have their new album?
|
no, still not.

thanks, the answer: no, they didn't played "The Great Destroyer" in Salzburg. |
Saw NIN for the 2nd time this year.
So amazingly awesome, and the weird screen thing was fúcking genius. |
it was probably the best act of the festival. they were so much better at reading than when i saw them a couple of years ago. it was nice to see so many fans of theirs who weren't annoying goths too. there are a lot of songs that i wish they had played as well, but no complaints about what they did play.
|
So are they playing mostly stuff off of Year Zero? Or is it all mostly their older stuff?
I remember reading an interview with Trent where he said he wouldn't be playing alot of YZ material only because this supposedly wasn't a proper tour for the new album. |
I've been listening to a lot NIN lately, only just starting to get into them. Unfortunately they played earlier this year so I probably won't see them anytime soon.
|

The only YZ tracks that get played are: - Hyperpower! - The Beginning Of The End - Survivalism - Capital G - The Great Destroyer And tbh, they're heavily rotated, you get maybe one or twp YZ tracks per gig. |

I heard that the drummer from Interpol is re-mixing Year Zero. Lolf. |
I know one of them already mixed stuff off of With Teeth after it came out. ****ing stupid if you ask me.
|
Well I love Interpol but they all seem to have started re-mixing other people's stuff and it's always awful.
|
Yeah, I'm not sure exactly who is remixing what..but there are gonna be a bunch of different people remixing. From what I hear, there are even gonna be some fan remixes on there. I really don't know what to expect of this album. I think Year Zero is an awesome that should have been left alone the way it is (same thing with TDS). Oh well.
|
The Fragile is a good double disk album
|
and the left is the best one...at least for me it is.
|
Was it as good for you as it was for me?
|
the left is better, cause everyone starts with listening to the left disc. if you get sick of it, you start listening to the right disc and then you realize that both of them are awesome.
though i haven't listened to TF for months... |

Lots of new stuff at the beginning you missed. There was around 4 or 5 new tracks layed that night. |

Looks like the current NIN lineup is done. I shouldn't even be too surprised about this seeing as how Reznor has never really kept any members for too long, but I really liked this lineup alot..and was kinda hoping he'd keep them around much longer. Oh well. Wonder what's next for NIN. |
I could not care less.
|
Massive bump, I know.
Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate. Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeed.
I'm sure the guys on ETS and the Spiral will have seen this already, but I'm just putting it out there. |
wow, so many changes going on with NIN lately. I also just read that the Year Zero remix album is suppose to be out November 20. And it's gonna be a CD/DVD combo. I wonder what they can possibly fill the DVD with..another live thing? I doubt it.
|
today i dreamt that i listened to Year Zero for the first time and it wasn't music, it was an "experience"... its was sooo great :D
/i still haven't heard YZ, but yesterday one of my friends bought it, so i may borrow it from her. |
^ You must get it..asap! haha. I haven't listened to the album in its entirety in quite a while now actually. Maybe I'll put it on now.
|
Sorry. Just HAD to bump this thread. Not enough NIN love around here. Anyways. Does Reznor write ALL NIN tracks, every single instrument and shit?
|

Trent Reznor=NIN making the answer to your question, prettymuch yes. Although he did have Dave Grohl play drums on most of With Teeth, which was a huge step for him. |
Holy ****. Musical genius, that man is. Also the videos. Damned his videos are creepy. Closer, anyone?
|

Well, As far as I've understood he basically writes all the compositions; but I believe the 'guests' are allowed to have some input as well. |
