Definately. I could upload Vain Glory Opera, the title track, to give you an idea of what that era in their music sounded like.
I have that one from your Spotlight on them, but thanks anyway. I found it in deep depths of the forum.

ArcLite 08-30-2005 11:25 AM

I'm pretty sure he also uploaded Pharaoh too, so here's Tears of a Mandrake:

Iron Bars 08-30-2005 11:38 AM

Thanks, didn't have that one yet. I can hear its the same band but it does sound different. Its like the singer is more on the background on the older stuff and it doesn't sound as epic yet.

NEVRMORE2 08-31-2005 01:19 PM

anyone know kamelot? i just litened to them on rhapsody and there great i like every song by them so far even though they are kinda cheesy.

Vitriolic Rage 08-31-2005 02:14 PM

Just started getting into power metal, I'm off to see Dragonforce next month.
I've heard Iced Earth are good, I'll give them a listen.

As promised - some Tarot from Suffer Our Pleasures - I know Steerpike did an FA on them and included this track, but I'm going to do them in order, and this is track 1. Anyway, there may be some folk who didn't get to download anything from Steepike's FA, if so, they'll be quite pleased.
I've been informed that my other Tarot album, Stigmata, is on its way and I'll upload stuff from it as soon as I get it

The song is "I Rule" and it rocks, bigtime.
running all the way...
What?

Iron Bars 09-01-2005 03:49 AM

Was just listening to some Therion and was wondering if this is powermetal. It has some of the elements but not all. The vocals could go for powermetal nowadays and the guitarwork could be powermetal. The themes they use for the lyrics too but still there (what I know) not called a powermetal band.

Epicurus 09-01-2005 05:21 AM

Do you guys consider Nevermore Power Metal?

ArcLite 09-01-2005 06:04 AM
Do you guys consider Nevermore Power Metal?
Most do. They're kind of like Iced Earth, with a fine line between power and thrash. But yeah, they're most commonly put in with power metal.

Slapping Penguin 09-01-2005 06:15 AM

I would call half their stuff Thrash, Half Power. Thrash/Power Metal.

Stoic 09-01-2005 06:33 AM

Nevermore are in fact a mix of various genres ranging from death to power. I just call label them as progressive :p

Shattered_Future 09-01-2005 07:47 AM

I just call them awesome. :)

Stoic 09-01-2005 07:50 AM

indeed! One of the few american bands that deserve the media attention they get!

illdisposed 09-01-2005 08:05 AM

is Mercenary power metal or death metal?

Stoic 09-01-2005 08:40 AM

jesus, couldnt you find a less challenging band? They're a blend as well and they differ a lot from traditional power. They do have a power touch though.

/confused :p
Dragonforce!!!!!!!! \m/ \m/

Don't know any other power metal. But I once got an angra song and it was so da.mn gay I had to delete it. Right away. And then take a shower

Cheers to that. Helloween and primal fear kick a$$ too. Angra is pretty ugly too.

Lord Abortion 09-01-2005 10:42 AM

I think Dungeon-life is black is one of my favourite instrumentals now... it's bloody cool

I agree

can somone recommend me some good power metal iv got alot of bands but i only like a couple of songs by them all and there not my favs

ArcLite 09-01-2005 01:22 PM

Some albums with front-to-back good songs:

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth
Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider, Something Wicked this way Comes, Horror Show
Angra - Rebirth
Edguy - Hellfire Club
Demons & Wizards - S/T, Touched by the Crimson King *Both albums are some of the best that power metal has to offer, in my opinion.

There's just a few to get you started, but there's a lot more that fall into this list.

Lord Abortion 09-01-2005 01:26 PM

also try
Edguy- hellfire club
dungeon- a rise to power
nightwish-wishmaster
children of bodom-follow the reaper
blind guardian- somewhere far beyond, a night at the opera
rhapsody- shmphony of enchanted lands

Shattered_Future 09-01-2005 01:33 PM

Aaand:

Nightwish - Oceanborn
Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild, Silence, Ecliptica
Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm
Lost Horizon - can't be arsed to look up album name

Steerpike 09-01-2005 01:44 PM
Lost Horizon - can't be arsed to look up album name
I think the one you're thinking of is A Flame to the Ground Beneath.

Shattered_Future 09-01-2005 01:57 PM
I think the one you're thinking of is A Flame to the Ground Beneath.
Probably. What he said.

Lord Tim 09-02-2005 02:12 AM
I think Dungeon-life is black is one of my favourite instrumentals now... it's bloody cool
Cheers, man! I think it could do with a remix, though (like most of the album) but I'm pretty proud of a lot of stuff on there, that song in particular. :)

dUSK 09-02-2005 04:01 AM
I think Dungeon-life is black is one of my favourite instrumentals now... it's bloody cool
That is one awesome song. I love the tone on the solo guitar and the 3 notes at around 1:37. It's brilliant :thumb:

Iron Bars 09-02-2005 04:16 AM

Sounds good but which band is it.

And could anyone answer my question on Therion being powermetal?

Slapping Penguin 09-02-2005 04:54 AM

Why Aren"t We The Arcane Truimph War Concil Yet!

Steerpike 09-02-2005 05:07 AM
Sounds good but which band is it.

Therion are symphonic death.
Why Aren"t We The Arcane Truimph War Concil Yet!
I'm not sure. I can make a request in problems/suggestions thread.

Slapping Penguin 09-02-2005 05:36 AM

Do it. I don't listen to power to do nothing. I put on my brother's Roman Helmet and grab his Gladius and attack the evil Labrador and Beagle beasts.

My friends and I are planning to make a corny Power Metal film clip to blind Guardian on the holidays. If we do it I will post it.

Steerpike 09-02-2005 05:44 AM

Oh, kind of like Rhapsody's videos? :p

As much as I love that band, you have to admit that their videos look like a scene out of the RenFest.

Lord Abortion 09-02-2005 05:50 AM

1. I have seen no Rhapsody videos

2. Renfest?

Steerpike 09-02-2005 05:51 AM

Renaissance Festival.

Lord Abortion 09-02-2005 05:59 AM

O.K, I know now.

I actually got invited by this Mallcore (and ugly) girl to go to a battle reenactment club with her, fun though it sounds, really, she scares me a little, so I politely declined.

oh BTW did you see this young man invoking your name?
