Yes he is. See him live. Trivium is just awful live. Matt can't sing. Clear or Screams. Corey made many mistakes on guitar. Too much looking cool and not enough in the focus department.
Their riffage sounded really bad live too. It's just barre chords in Drop D.
my live experience of Trivium goes against everything you said there.

"Corey made many mistakes on guitar" - na, no way. he was perfect in Exeter(England), and ive googled them plenty of times and Corey is never sloppy to any significant level. he certainly does not make many mistakes.
Master of Puppets isn't even that good.

When I think influencial, it has to be good to me, otherwise I don't care about it at all... examples of influencial albums that don't suck being Slaughter of the Soul, Transelvanian Hunger, Petitioning To The Empty Sky, or The Jester Race.
Master Of Puppets was a massive success, thats what trivium are trying to say.

SimonCore 05-16-2006 03:50 PM

OK Master of Puppets is like my favourite Metallica album. How can you say it's not good?

Britton 05-16-2006 10:36 PM
Id hate to see what hard is.

they means The next MOP.

Like the most influential metal record.
It might have been a little harsh...but I hate it when people like that come in and screw a thread. I used to be Mr. MX whore, and I did that a whole lot. Looking back on it I realize how stupid it is to do that. I'm here now to have conversations. Not impress a bunch of people with 30,000 posts that have little or no value whatsoever. so if I came across as harsh I apologize. but that's what it took for me to realize what a idiot I was being. in all reality his post wasn't that bad...but it wasn't that good either.

So anyway...

I think this can be their MOP Ascendancy has sure set them up quite nice. Just like RTL set Metallica up. So I can tell you that it would be no suprise if this is their MOP. at this point in time I actually beleive that Trivium Is twice the band Metallica has ever been...as far as talent go's they are just insane.

Because he doesnt like it maybe . . .

Unless he means instrumentally it isnt good then thats pretty stupid . ..

SimonCore 05-17-2006 05:39 AM

Trivium are much more technical than 'tallica guitar wise. And his vocals are still gonna be kinda harsh. So i'm thinking it will be a technical heavier version of MOP (not literally but Triviums MoP) It could be actually better than MOP.

Neoteric 05-17-2006 09:40 AM

I used to hate this band but I've grown to find them enjoyable.

Not only guitar wise

Travis owns Lars and paulo is right up there with Jason. I think Rob is probably better and Cliff was definatly more creative. Overall Trivium just owns Metallica (instrument wise) The lyrics could be a little better if they want to have classic songs...but other then that they are incredible

i am the robots 05-17-2006 11:52 AM

I think Trivium's lyrics blow aside from Declaration, Like Light To Flies, and Pillars of Serpents.

lamb_of_goddrummer 05-17-2006 03:32 PM

Yeah, I'm startin to get pretty psyched about their new album, now that I realize that Heafy's vocals probably will sound a lot like Hetfield's.

Sir_Robert 05-18-2006 10:17 PM

ya i think hes going twards that. i think its good that hes not going to be screaming as much. not that i didnt like the screaming its just i think that especially in there older stuff they "over use" it in there songs. cant wait for the new album

Britton 05-18-2006 10:28 PM

Pretty much all my friends aren't big Trivium fans...yet they say they would be if Matt didn't scream so much. So I think it's a good thing there isn't going to be so much screaming.

It's gonna be a great album

SimonCore 05-19-2006 09:53 AM

When's it gonna be out again?

I look forward to The Crusade.

I used to love Trivium, but after a while Matt's vocals and ego grated on my nerves. (Eleventeen)

Who doesn't? lol It's gonna be a great album. I wonder if it will get any radio play here...

from what I understand the bigger markets in Texas have Metal stations. But here we only have one rock station. So we never here Trivium on the radio

exup 05-19-2006 02:37 PM

if matthew dude wasn't trying to grunt half the songs, it would be more enjoyable to listen i think..
but than it also would be more standard.

damn aren't there any good singers anymore?

Charizard 05-19-2006 02:50 PM

Tons of good singers out there still...

Yeah, that is just the same where I live. I hate the music they play on our one "new" rock station:Nickelback, Greenday, etc.

Shadows Within 05-19-2006 08:13 PM

We only get one metal radio station up here and it sucks but sometimes they'll play tool and BLS.

encmetalhead 05-19-2006 08:14 PM

we have like a pure rock station that plays the commercal metal bands like dope and shiz like that

Iv seen Trivium 3 times, will be 4 come download, everytime iv seen them they have been amazing, the guitar work was impecable, the stage presence was amazing, the way they interacted with the crowd was fantastic, Heafys vocals arnt the best but they are still damm good for a 20 year old, the last time i saw them he didnt 'scream' but used a more raspy heavy singing style which worked really well.
The barre chords in drop D comment, well some songs contain the standard drop d powerchord riff, but most of the time oly as an intro, Trivium tend to use more string skipping and pedal note riffs, and some of there riffs are really good.
Corey didnt make any mistakes when i saw them, he played really smoothly and made everything look so easy, he is also one of the best in the business for circle headbanging too:)
I cant wait for 'The Crusade', i think Trivium have the oppurtunity to build on ascendancy and really show people what they can do, its bieng bigged up alot and hopefully it will meet the hype and propell trivium into massive band.

Drunken Viking 05-20-2006 11:26 PM

Any live vid I've seen of Trivium they have been really sloopy. And they can't even keep time that well live.

Grumma 05-21-2006 03:39 AM

That lack of keeping time is intentional :p

All I can say is,

I came into the show, liking them a lot. I left the show not into them much anymore. I listen to them a bit, but hardly ever.

HauntedDevil 05-21-2006 05:19 AM

I love this band alot! They are really talented and Matt Heafy's white Les Paul is pretty damn shexy looking.
