What in the fuck is nanowrimo?

TojesDolan 11-19-2005 03:58 PM

nanowrimo is a short novel internet challenge that lasts a month and you have to make a 50 000 word novel in 31 days. A pain in the butt. And I won't even finish half.

DeadReligion 11-19-2005 10:42 PM

Lovely. I did like...a 200 page one from 6th-8th grade...I'm working on a sci-fi one now.

Did anyone else Pre-Thanksgiving party last night or plan on doing it tonight?

TojesDolan 11-22-2005 12:12 PM

No, I'll just make all my homeworks already delayed. :(

thickasabrick 11-22-2005 08:28 PM

Thanksgiving in Canada is long past....my mom is having a manicure/pedicure party tonight, there is so much good food but I don't really wanna hang out with 15 gossipy mid-aged women.

I was downstairs about to start my English Essay (which counts for 10% of our final mark, and is due in about a week)...and this little girl comes down, her mom is upstairs getting a manicure or whatever...and she's like "you're mom says that you will show me how to play guitar." So I gotta go get my acoustic, and painstakingly spend an hour trying to teach her the chords to Knockin' On Heaven's Door. She wanted to learn Avril Lavigne's version, but I taught her the Dylan version just to spite her. I always have to end up teaching some oddball stranger guitar because my mom told them I would...I hate it!

TojesDolan 11-22-2005 08:32 PM

It's not OK when it's a little girl.

But the good comes when, for instance, the hottest girl in school asks you to teach her how to play drums.

That happened to a cousin from a friend, and he refused.

Sh¡t happens.

Physics>Calculus>Chemistry>Eveything else>Statistics

I hate like there was no tomorrow statistics. And Calculus is being gay with differentiation with angles and what not... last month was worse. :(

A_Perfect_Sonnet 11-24-2005 09:16 PM

This sounds dumb, but I was jamming with some people I knew last night doing Brand New acoustic covers and they were sounding pretty darn cool. Acoustic guitar with piano. We were throwing in vocal harmony on the fly. Sweet.

TojesDolan 11-24-2005 09:20 PM

I like Brand New. The lyrics are very good, at times.

Particularly "Sic transit gloria". Very sexual.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 11-24-2005 09:24 PM

I also would like to point out that drumass did a good job at ignoring the moron in our In-Depth Critique Thread. Someone who has stars should rep him.

Yeah, I'm going to go practice with my brother's band on Saturday as well. Fill in as bassist and do some vocaling. Should be fun.

thickasabrick 11-24-2005 11:14 PM

What the hell is up with that ilikeyoubetterdead? How could anyone possibly think that they can make a thread which serves the exact same purpose as this forum (or section of the forums, whatever), and then try to make the forum rules not apply to it? Someone needs to straighten that boy out.

I've only heard one song by Brand New. Soco Amaretto Lime...I'm not a big fan of it. I had to play it like a hundred times over because the singer and the guitarist for this quasi-band that I used to be in wanted to do it. It's like the same four power chords over and over...which gets very boring on an acoustic (and it made my hand hurt after a while!).

And jamming with a piano and acoustic guitars is the ultimate jamming experience, in my opinion. I love the sound of pianos.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 11-24-2005 11:16 PM

Well, since we were all either comprable or better than Jesse Lacey (three of the four of us far surpassed his vocal prowess), they were sounding spectacularly nice.

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 11-25-2005 09:43 AM

yea, i learned a lesson: trying to convince dumbasses to not be dumbasses is very hard without mod powers.

TojesDolan 11-25-2005 04:15 PM

Is it time for a fourth S&L mod?

Stay tuned for the next page of...

Let's discuss the awesomeness of Burt.

ATC 11-25-2005 04:28 PM

Sweet mother of god, that large font hurt my eyes.

TojesDolan 11-25-2005 04:38 PM

I can make it colorful to make it more eye-twitching.

Hold on a sec.

Anti-Prefix 11-26-2005 08:26 AM

Happy birthday, Burt!

TojesDolan 11-26-2005 04:21 PM

Anyone else thinks Jubella is taking over S&L?

That's good. leaves me with less work to do while I'm around. I've become lazy at writing because my fucking Satan chemistry teacher is a bastard bitch and makes us do super KEWL experiments with two weeks of anticipation, and tough crap with a week anticipations, ugh. That and I have to make a King Crimson Review, some CD reviews, upload my novel to teh internetz and review "The lord of the flies".

I hate my life at the moment. :(

Muse_ 11-26-2005 08:09 PM

'Sup S&L. :)

TojesDolan 11-26-2005 08:17 PM

Hey Caitria, how's your evening. I was hacked again.

Muse_ 11-26-2005 08:19 PM

Hello Tojes.
My evenings been going great. I've been watching the college football first round games and I made apple pie.
Sorry about the hackage. :(
How's your evening otherwise?

TojesDolan 11-26-2005 08:38 PM

Good, I guess. a lot of internet, I suppose. I drank beer with my mother and father just because and they think I'm hung-over, which I'm not. :confuz'd:

Anyhow, I think I'll go out to a party later, bbq sausage fest somewhere and something else I can't remember... I have to do a lot of papers due next month but they are way too much to spare.

A lot of bitching on the internet too. :-/

mmm... That's it. I guess I'll just start some of that homework.

Muse_ 11-26-2005 09:06 PM

I'm sure if you recite the alphabet backwards and listen to loud music without wincing they'll be convinced you aren't hung over. :-/

And forget about the papers. Actually doing schoolwork is so cliche. I mean, everyone seems to be doing it.

TojesDolan 11-26-2005 09:37 PM

Ugh majorities.

I'd add you to some IM program, but I'm hardly ever on AIM. Buggers.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 11-26-2005 10:44 PM

Tojes, thanks for the crit, do you have any pieces up? You are one of those people that deserve crits back.

On a side note, I spent the afternoon working with the screamer in my brother's band, helping him get his lyrics to match into the guitar parts. Was cool. Then after the drummer left we did some acoustic stuff. I've had a cold though, so my voice is half-dead from all the screaming.

TojesDolan 11-27-2005 12:17 PM

Nope, sorry. :(

I've written some stuff, one's about my experience in night clubs, more of a lot of ideas, whatsoever, and my experience in a bus in a school trip, but nothing concrete yet. I have one somewhere floating, I suppose, but it's not amazing. I'll tell you when I have something worthwhile. :)

Muse_ 11-27-2005 08:09 PM

I never quite figured out the msn messaging thing. I'll look at it again sometime because so many people here use it exclusively. :)
