or... JUST BUY THE ALBUM!!! |
JUST BUY THE ALBUM!!!
Why don't people do that in the first place? |
Because Opeth is a lesser known band, in a neglected genre and therefore less stores stock these sorts of albums. So to obtain t this album I am most likely going to have to make a 1-2 hour drive to the city.
Also I am new to Opeth and I don't like buying albums getting home, putting it on and being highly disappointed by it... Away to avoid this? Pre-listening to songs. |

Their records have gone gold or better ever since "Blackwater Park." Finding early Opeth is difficult though, granted. If you want to hear an Opeth song, I'll just upload it. You got iTunes? |

New Opeth CDs on eBay are actually 2X cheaper than in regular music stores here in Canada. Played BWP with my Opeth tribute band this evening. Feels soooooo good. |
hahaha, performing White cluster, Deliverance, Windowpane and Harvest for my band

I've just learned that metal-archives is full of idiots. There are people who gave morningrise 3% and the same with most of their albums.
Fools... |

Blackwater Park sold a lot in its intial Stateside run, like a few hundred thousand copies, and now that the word of mouth is out on how brilliant they are and how accessible they can be to metalheads and fans of more cerebral music alike, their albums do even better. Deliverance and ****ation were some of the most highly anticipated albums of their respective years, for instance, and sold really well, and ****ation probably made a killing because of its sound. Those albums even got them mention in Rolling Stone, for God's sake, which is an achievement because that magazine takes such a dim view of anything with creativity. Conceding article space to Opeth was an incredible action for that magazine. It proved a lot about the respect Opeth has gained. |
Yeah, Rolling Stone blows.
Congrats to Opeth then. |
All this talk of how hard it is to find Opeth CDs, I'm confused, I found all their albums but My Arms, Your Hearse at FYE, and the only reason it wasn't there was because it was sold out.
|
I've found all of their albums except Still Life, which I'll order soon. The weirdest part is that I found MAYH at Barnes and Nobles and Barnes and Nobles only.

Check the interviews on www.swedishmetal.net, Mikael Akerfeldt was confused by how the attitude in America has changed towards them (as in not even knowing about them, to turning into mass admiration (amongst metalheads)) |

That is weird, heh. You'll be very pleased with Still Life, it's amazing. |

The link doesn't work. |
huh? I might have mispelled something somhow.
http://www.swedishmetal.net/default.html there, and I just realized the browser icon is a pentagram, nice. Not Opeth related, but Meshugga's album is completely mixed, I'm looking forward to this. |

Put http:// in front of it.
I've just learned that metal-archives is full of idiots. There are people who gave morningrise 3% and the same with most of their albums. Fools...
Well some people find their music boring. |
Well some people finf their music boring.
Their music feels like a feast to me. There's so much richness in a lot of their songs. /is such a fanboy :upset: |
There's not liking something and theres putting it down without thinking about it. I don't like Blink 182 AT ALL but I wouldn't give their albums a 3%, there is always something to enjoy and think about.
|
The reviews on metal-archives aren't professional though, and make no claim to be. It's just people giving their opinions on albums.
|
I should just stick to Sputnik, the greatest review site *ever*. At least if a review is way off base there, peole will mention it.

I've reviewed "Blackwater Park" and Opeth's "D+D" albums :p for Sputnik. Check 'em out, I like getting comments. But it doesn't happen as much now that the site is less forum-based than it was. :thumb: |
You like Sputnik, then?
|
I've read all of the reviews and all were fantastic. Would I be able to do a Lamentions review dispite the fact it's a DVD?
|
You like Sputnik, then?
Yes. It's much more streamlined and professional than the old CD reviews. I think it's great and I always check it out when looking for a new album. |
i like Sputnik more than the old review system too

Your join date would suggest that you weren't here for the old CD Review system. Did you have an old name? |
The thing don't like about sputnik is that if I person can be bothered reviewing an album with detail then they most probably like it a lot. That is why I seldom come across a negative review there, and that kind of annoys me.
|
I have a quick question.
I heard Still Life is a concept album. What is the concept or story of it? Thanks :thumb: |
The concept is about a dude who get's banished from where he lives, and something to do with the girl he loves (Melinda) I forget the story, but it's really cool.
