Do you think he'd be upset if we made him an honorary englishman?
Why not? I'm already an honorary black man according to my former high-school classmates. :D
Well what do you know? It's done.

Well there you have it.
I'll download it as soon as my modem stops being a bitch.
Or make him a lord - which sounds better "Sir Steerpike", or "Lord Alex of Steerpike"?
My namesake once referred to himself in the second novel as "His Infernal Slyness."

Stoic 07-21-2005 04:27 PM

Nice epithet, but I'm afraid the British monarchy have yet to include that one in their honours and titles, so you'll have to be a lord or a sir. Unless you fancy a baronetcy or dukedom.

Hmm... a Duke, you say?

EDIT: Okay, I need to bump this thread to make a call out to the power metal community. On Sunday, I'm putting up the new Featured Genre thread on power metal.

The problem is that my modem is sitll being a bitch and won't stay uploaded long enough for me to make the necessary uploads. So I'm calling on all of you to help me out here. The thread goes up Sunday morning and I need you guys to deal with the uplaods for the sake of the community.

Here's the deal. Take first dibs one or two of the following bands below and upload two or more songs by them when the thread goes up in two days. First come, first serve. However if there are more bands you want to upload, feel free. These are merely the ones I feel need to be mentioned.

Blind Guardian - Stoic
Helloween
Stratovarius
Nightwish - Arucard
Rhapsody
Savatage
Manowar
Iced Earth
Children of Bodom - Arucard

As I said, call dibs on one are two of these. And if you have other bands you want to upload in addition, go for it.

As for Wuthering Heights, around Tuesday or Wednesday next week, I cna rip songs from the new CD to my brother's computer and upload from there. It will take a few days, but at least it will get done.

Arucard 07-22-2005 11:29 AM

Can i do some Bodom and Demons and Wizards uploads? I can upload some track of Wishmaster too.

Steerpike 07-22-2005 11:33 AM

Go for it.

IheartSP 07-22-2005 11:57 AM

That's cool that Power Metal will be the next featured genre, I look foward to it. Don't forget to mention the extreme power metal like Bodom, Norther, etc.

Stoic 07-22-2005 12:05 PM

I take Blind Guardian but dont hate me if my computer dies. I'll try to upload some tomorrow morning and if I have problem I'll immediately post here so as there's time for someone else to take care of it. Is this ok? How many songs are supposed to upload?

Steerpike 07-22-2005 12:10 PM

At least two songs, but three or more would be welcome if you can swing it.

IheartSP 07-22-2005 12:15 PM

I'd upload a lot of that stuff but I am leaving tomorrow and I won't be back till next saturday.

Are there any bands in particular I should put you down for?

Stoic 07-22-2005 12:17 PM

Is any of you familiar with Tad Morose? In only I could find Modus Vivendi...

D*mmit :(

I want to help out with the Power Metal thread so bad, but with a 49.2 dial-up, it's pretty tough to get uploads :upset:

Sorry I can't be contributing to your thread Steer, but I would if I could.

Stoic 07-22-2005 12:25 PM

/used to be one of them for the last 6 years :upset:

It good to know people are at least willing to help out.

ElectricalStorm 07-22-2005 01:26 PM

I own Helloween's keeper 1 + 2, plus they're 2003 release rabbit don't come easy, so I could cover those uploads since I'm sure the keeper tracks are the ones you want uploaded correct?

Shattered_Future 07-22-2005 01:29 PM

I got every Nightwish album cept Angels Fall First and their live one...I'm sure i could help out there.

Also have Helloween's greatest hits...

A few Rhapsody and Stratovarius mp3s...

And Iced Earth's The Dark Saga. Whatever you need, just let me know. :)

Stoic 07-22-2005 01:32 PM

Personally I think Walls of Jericho, both Keepers and the Dark Ride are Helloween's best, so anything off the Keepers would be a good pick.

ElectricalStorm 07-22-2005 01:41 PM

It would be cool if someone could upload some stuff off Walls of Jericho, I always wanted that album.

I could also help out with Rhapsody (I own Dawn of Victory)

Terrorzone 07-22-2005 03:56 PM

Has anyone heard anything off the new Helloween?

Stoic 07-22-2005 04:06 PM

Actually WetNoodle uploaded Mrs God yesterday. You can find the link in the previous page. Like I said I didnt like it at all. How about you?

chorbalan 07-22-2005 05:04 PM

I've allways wondered wheter queensryche are power metal or prog, they seem to have influences from both.

Stoic 07-22-2005 05:05 PM

They have influences I suppose from both genres but in general they're classified as prog.

chorbalan 07-22-2005 05:09 PM

Well that settles that then. Can't wait till I see them in September.

Cain 07-22-2005 09:29 PM
Well that settles that then. Can't wait till I see them in September.
Well, I don't know about prog...at least not in the way we know it. They certainly wrote a stellar concept album, but I don't think they're quite prog metal.

In all honesty, they're prog and power-metal sounding, but they sounded that way before those classifications even existed.

Stoic 07-23-2005 05:48 AM

hey Steerpike I uploaded some BG songs and maybe I'll upload a few more later. Do you want me to post the links here or send them to you by e-mail?

Riva 07-23-2005 06:19 AM

I still haven't heard any Elvenking... anyone who feels nice enough to upload?

Stoic 07-23-2005 06:21 AM

I can upload the song I downloaded from the folk FA, but it might take a while (slow PC) :)

Riva 07-23-2005 06:27 AM

Hehe, if you want, you may. :)
