Sorry, but 51% (the amount of people who voted for George W. Bush, and suprisingly just a little over the number of people who are openly Christian, hmmm...) doesn't count as "a few."

I don't mind gays.

nor do i, but they are a bunch of christians who do and they treat them badly because of it...in my mind being gay is no different than any sin that i commit everyday but most people don't see it that way

and just to let you know, i will boldly say that half the people who claim to be christians either aren't , or they aren't practicing becuase if there was that many christians this country would be a much different place. Just realize basically half the people who tell you that are lying to you becuase their lifestyle shows different.

Let's put it this way, if you believe:
A) God directly interferes with the affairs of the world, causing both bountiful blessings and also great pain and torture to his "enemies."
B) That all people are born "unpure" until cleansed of all sin by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior.
C) All things written in the Bible, both OT and NT, is the holy, innerrent word of God, and everything in said book occurred as written, regardless of scientific evidence to the contrary.
D) That if condition B is not met, one is doomed to hell for all eternity, regardless of how loving or compassionate they were.

If you believe these things, then yep, you're a Christian alright.
But if you DON'T, then you're a THEIST, not a Christian.

ok i'll agree with all of those accept a, and c.. for one there isn't scientific evidence against christianity, nothing has yet to be proven wrong in it, yes soem seems unlikely but hello, we're talking about the guy who created this universe and it's laws, i think he could do it, and God does not torture his enemies. Hell is not a torture, in fact, Hell is giving htem what they ask for. Hell isn't fire burning you forever, fire is symbolic of judgement, hell is just complete serperation from God, and everything of God. If they didn't want him in life, why would he force them to be with him for eternity, he doens't he gives them what htey want, and that's hell, seperation from God. in a sense, yeah i guess it could be "torture" with everything good taken away, but wouldn't also be torture to force them to be with HIm for all ages when they don't wanna be

just for further reference...all you have to believe to be a "christian" is that Jesus Christ was the son of God and htat he died for your sins and rose again....the rest is accepted but it's arbitrary...you don't need it to get to heaven...God's not goign to say since you didn't believe that this and that was wrong you go to hell

Fair enough, we can leave it at that. But it would have been nice if you had said "I believe" instead of stating your beliefs as if they were some kind of outright facts.

But I do like the idea of separation, because if the God portrayed in the Bible, the OT at least, actually exists, I'd much rather be with the with the sodomizing sinners and the satan worshipping heathens than him. BUt meh, just my preference.:smash:

that's what most people don't understand even a lot of christians, is that hell is not a place of torture and being burned for all eternity, it's just seperation....but most people don't take the time to research either a) what they say they believe or b) what they say the don't believe

It's true theres no reason to even argue...

You know theres a very simple way to live life and if more people adopted it we'd be alot better off. You can beleive in 20 gods, be the biggest fruitcake on the planet and you know what? Everyone else doesnt have to know about it... Thats the problem with alot of people today they have to smear their crap all over everything and make sure everyone within a 500 mile radius knows who they are and what they do.

If people just kept to themselves and had a DROP of respect and personal respect people would get along alot better. What you beleive and what you do is your own personal bussiness thats why arguments start, people start shoving their crap around and it pisses people off. Theres no need for it. Beleive in what you want and do what you want freely but don't push it on anyone thats not right.
