i mean built to spill isnt a particularly revolutionary band or whatever, but i enjoyed their show... and no they didnt dance aroudn in spandex, but... they played some pretty sweet triple guitar songs. i duno it was alright

Time 10-20-2009 06:47 PM
look at doug martsch and ask yourself if he likes to move around at all. not all fat ppl are dynamic bundles of energy like tim harrington
Wow...based on this alone this thread is the ****

Liebensaft 10-20-2009 10:56 PM

I think I'll still go. Bummer it's on a Wednesday. Chemistry lab's a ballbuster, but I should be fine after accounting for openers.
I saw them open for the Meat Puppets last year (or was it 2 years ago?) and I thought they were really generic and bad.
dude seriously they opened for meat puppets? i've seen mp twice and it's both been opening because they're from around here i think... i can't imagine a band like bts opening for them considering thats the band i saw them open for.

that being said i saw them open for sonic youth and built to spill and they were better than bts, but not sonic youth cuz they played schizophrenia and seriously

DogInTheBanned 10-21-2009 03:18 AM

PS i don't know my original username/password and i dont know what email i used for it how do i fix this

sweboy 10-21-2009 06:06 AM

My mistake, they OPENED for BTS. Still a good show.

Liebensaft 10-22-2009 12:26 AM

I wanna see Meat Puppets. Sonic Youth were good when I saw them, but they were doing one of those Daydream Nation-in-its-entirety shows so eh. It was still cool/free.

Jacaranda 10-22-2009 01:19 AM

ya man seeing daydream nation mustve sucked. glad i saw all of rather ripped instead.

niobium 10-22-2009 02:23 PM

the problem is that my roommate listens to really annoying shitty music and thinks he knows everything.

Carl Sagan 10-25-2009 12:38 AM

certainly that music couldnt be as annoying as unwound

samarahah 10-25-2009 01:21 AM

you turkey!

niobium 10-25-2009 04:01 AM

unwound is alone music
the problem is that my roommate listens to really annoying poopty music and thinks he knows everything.
This is one of the reasons I'm paying more for a single room in my house.

Although some guys in my house like stuff like Estradasphere and Don Cab, but I think if I lived with someone they would get sick of my music and I would get sick of theirs. And I wouldn't be able to use my sweet speakers.

Although I bet no one in my house would have as bad taste as the girls I lived with in the dorms. Between them it was nothing but Him and Disney soundtracks, basically.
ya man seeing daydream nation mustve sucked. glad i saw all of rather ripped instead.
when i saw sonic youth they had just finished their daydream nation tour thing, so they played a whole lot off of that album but left out the pooptier songs. it was perfect.

honourosis 10-27-2009 12:07 AM

just got back from ghastly city sleep/pygmy lush/des ark. idk i thought ghastly city sleep was great, pygmy lush blew me away and des ark were awesome as well.

met the dudes from pygmy lush/ghastly and it was honestly the only time i've been star struck. i felt like a geeky little kid. dudes were super nice and down to earth.

edit - pygmy lush jam with aimee from des ark was some of the best stuff they've written.

put up new grapes recordings for the first time in 5 months.....

if you wana hear doom / sludge / noise myspace.com/grapesband

were playing 2 house shows friday and saturday night this weekend

should be halloweeny. bonfire party projector smoke machine yeahH!

were gona have looping war footage, bomb tests, horror excerpts, etc

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

poopie 10-31-2009 08:31 PM

^ we ended up doing it inside to prevent noise violation / fines / cancellation.

and no smoke machine, i think they tried to use corn oil and it didnt work.

we're not playing the show tonight, and i dont feel like doing anything really so im working on 2 programming projects with the PIC32, one A/D sampling program that then sends the data out on SPI to a wireless network processor. the other is this music looper i'm trying to get working: receives samples thru serial from an audio ADC, stores them in a designated place on an SD card depending on what "track" you're recording to. then another memory buffer stores the next word for playback, sending that out thru an audio DAC. it'll be based on a button (foot-switch) and then when you press it again it stops recording, starts playing it back and that defines the loop length for all following recordings. so the playback buffer will basically be continually summing the n'th sample in each active layer. once i get something like this working ill start thinking about beatmapping algorithms

wang masta flex 10-31-2009 10:39 PM

did you guys know that Spin Doctors had an actually really good song? "40 or 50"
