All of my family is watching my Dark Tranquillity DVD...
Eh, I'm not complaining. My dad turned out to be somewhat of a fan of them after we saw them Friday night. Appreciates their tightness together and the stuff they do on guitar.
I would say thats very cool. I got my family into Dream Theater and Priest. Im working on Maiden now. Goodnight MX. |
Gnite squirrel friend.
Woot, today is Saturday. Which means 2 hours of Stargate on UPN starting at 11. Oh right. |
Haha thats so awsome. All my family dosnt like my music at all. Neither do any of my friends... I think Im gonna go read my book now. Im hearing Killing is Buisness for the First time, and its so awsome :) Np- Rattlehead |
I managed to get my dad into Nightwish, so I count that as a small victory for metal.
Anyway, it's been a pretty cool day. My speakers died yesterday, but I picked up an even better pair at Target today. The tone is so much cleaner. The bassline is much clearer too. Also, while I was out I picked up a documentary on the Third Reich's fascination with and investigation into the occult along with An American Werewolf in London, both on DVD of course. And since Borders was having a sale, I got 5 books for like 20 bucks. A couple of them were normally priced about $10, and one was originally $15. While I was out I had enough spare cash on me to pick up a brownie from Mrs. Fields and a bubble tea. So yeah, pretty cool day. |
My best was getting my dad into Behemoth.
 |
My favourite author's are David Eddings, Douglas Adams, Raymond E. Fiest, Terry Pratchet, Monty Python boys, Matthew Reilly and Tolkien.
Oh, and the great Robert Winston, of course. |

I had to read Fahrenheit 451 for a research project in 9th grade. I managed to do my whole paper (and get a 97 on it) using only a few criticisms and the first third of the book. I really could not get into it.
|
A better book is Something Wicked This Way Comes. Really spooky.
|
That book confused the hell out of me. I liked it though. Do you know if the movie is any good?
I read a short story by Bradbury from my Literature book called The Pedestrian. It was pretty good too. |
I also really like his short story "The Dragon Flies at Midnight." It's on the One More for the Road anthology.

Well, this is a year late, I know, but I just watched Revenge of the Sith all the way through.
I expected torture, but not to this degree. I mean, in one scene, before Anakin is even evil, Palpatine says to him, "The Jedi don't trust me", and then goes on to say "They want to take control of the Republic. They are evil. They can't be trusted." in the next fucking sentence. I mean, he watches placidly as Palpatine fries Windu, then laments for less than a minute before treating the Emperor like an old friend. I can only assmue that Lucas thought a minute was a long period of remorse, since he only felt guilty for the 30 seconds between the release of this piece of shit and the money rolling in. |
omg!
I just watched that movie the whole way through too :O I liked it :( But I'm very easy to please when it comes to Star Wars. |
You have to admit, it was better than Episode 1. Maybe it's just the relativity. Aside from Christenson and Portman magically losing their ability to act while in the same scene, it was a good popcorn flick at the very least.
|
It was easily the best of the prequels.

Only the presence of Wookies could save this one though. |

hahaha Even though I enjoyed the movie, this is hilarious: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=episode3 |
Yes, I know the Wookies were shoehorned in and ultimately had no real part to play, but gosh darn they're cool.
|
I haven't seen any of the prequels after episode 1. I was too disgusted with it to watch the others.
I believe I'll be playing the part of Cain tonight, although I'm not nearly as cheap a drunk as him....unfortunately:( |
I like Jack Higgins, but I dislike his tendencies to repeat plot strands and themes verbatim from story to story in his WWII novels, in addition to his constant, jarring distinctions between "good Germans" and "bad Germans" in his depiction of the Third Reich's military.
On an unrelated note, how many people actually use the quick reply box at the bottom of the page? I never ever have.
/late, has been to sleep. his WWII novels aren't exactly the best ever, but i just read Pay The Devil, set in Ireland after the American Civil War, a Confederate colonel inherits land over there, gets drawn into more conflict, blah blah blah. it was a really good read though. who's read Sebastian Faulkes' "Birdsong" and "Charlotte Grey"?
Yes, I know the Wookies were shoehorned in and ultimately had no real part to play, but gosh darn they're cool.
big hairy aliens ++ |
Bah. Can't believe I missed all this author talk.
Anyone in the UK, put on Channel 4 now.
What was I missing?
My favorite authors are Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, George Orwell and Tolkien.
Have you ever read Dale Brown? Seems you would like him.
I'm reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. by Susana Clarke it's about magicians in the 18th century. I like it
Nice, I read that while I was in Florida last year..but never actually finished it. Ran out of time before having to come back to England, so I don't know how it ended. I was only about 80-100 pages from finishing, too. I should really get myself to a library again. What bit are you up to?
Harry Potter
I started at my secondary school pretty much at the same time the first Harry Potter book came out, which in an odd way made me enjoy them more. I'll never forgive her for screwing up the release times, though. The books are just getting worse as they go on, anyway. EDIT: actually, in other Star Wars related news, a couple of days ago I finally finished both Fable and Knights of the Old Republic. Fable was a nice little story and everything, but I found I just didn't care at all about what happened to any of the characters. With KOTOR, on the other hand, I ended up caring too much, and felt faintly depressed after it. |

Harry Potters are getting more absurd as they go along, like all the stuff she adds in, I'm not reading the new ones now, not when I've discovered Guants Ghosts. I was overjoyed when he found out I was gonna kill him and take over the universe. I loved it wehn he ran away. But yeah, I got attached to the Twi'Lek and The Wookie. And That other Guy. Not so much Bastila, however. Which Side were you on? And, your gonna love the second Knights. Back in England, W00t! |

i have KOTOR, but i've never bothered playing it. i cheated all the way through Jedi Academy the other day frying as many aliens as possible, but it's not exactly the best game ever. i'm trying it without cheating now, as i know how to do all the missions. |

Gaunt's Ghosts are great. I love that Abnett really isn't afraid to kill off main characters for realism, even if it does mean all my favourite characters eventually end up dead. How far are you through the series?
I felt the same way. But, you have to hate Carth. I was overjoyed when he found out I was gonna kill him and take over the universe. How far are you through the series?
Yeh, Like Fereyd, And Baru, and all those people you get attatched to. I've only read First and Only, Where they go to Menazoid Epsilon. But I'm craving them, And I'm going to get the next one sometime this week.
I tried both, and ended up depressed both ways. Great game, though.
That it is. I want to play it again, it's just I can't be arsed doin the bit on Taris and that Ship your on at the start.
I hope so.
Where have you been?
And Island called Fuerta Ventura, off the coast of Africa. |
What KOTOR game was it Bartender? I absolutely loved the first one, but I kinda lost interest in my Xbox before the second was released.
|
The first one. I thought since I'd probably enjoy the games, I may as well play them in order.
|
A Third one is coming out for 360, but I don't want to have to buy a new Xbox, as I don't really play mine anymore. I'm desperate for the third knights however.
