Mitch Mitchell. One of the premier classic rock drummers. He often gets overshadowed, because well, that can happen rather easily when Hendrix is in the band. But he really is excellent.
is he in any other bands besides the Experience?

sixxbassist90 02-01-2005 06:56 PM

Well, Band of Gypsys. But that also had Hendrix in it.

Broken Arrow 02-01-2005 06:56 PM

Ahh I love Mitch from Fire to 1983 to Voodoo Chile. He makes me happy.

BludgeonySteve 02-01-2005 06:56 PM

Mwahaha. Nice speed. gaypj was quick on his deletion though. woodcock is still a bit slow.

omgz funy namez

Mitch Mitchell is awesome. He can fill very fast and with the odd way of holding drum sticks :)

Which reminds me how cool Billy Cox was.

Until he eventually got replaced by Buddy Miles.

really, how does he hold his sticks?

BludgeonySteve 02-01-2005 06:58 PM

Like forks. The jazz drumming way, but he played hard rock so i'm wondering about that.

Woodstock 02-01-2005 06:59 PM

Wait, my mistake. Mitch Mitchell was in Gypsys, Suns and Rainbows. They performed at Woodstock. Band Of Gypsys performed at The Fillmore East and I don't think Mitch Mitchell played with them much.

lunch998 02-01-2005 06:59 PM

It's called traditional grip. It isn't odd.

Band of Gypsies was Jimi, Buddy Miles, and Billy Cox right?

ledpoisoning27 02-01-2005 07:01 PM

yea well a lot of jazz drummers were really fast and held their sticks like that.

also, wasn't the bassist in the Experience from the Animals

Another drummer that was very jazz influenced is John Densmore from the Doors.

Hendrix's manager was the bassist from The Animals.
I thought Buddy Miles was the Bqand of Gypsies drummer?
He was most of the time. But Mitch Mitchell was unpredictable and he rarely played with them.

Broken Arrow 02-01-2005 07:04 PM
It's called traditional grip. It isn't odd.
It's odd for hard blues rock, i'd say. I was impressed with the the speed while using it ;)
It's odd for hard blues rock, i'd say. I was impressed with the the speed while using it ;)
Odd for hard rock, yes. Speed is common with traditional grip though, i.e. Buddy Rich.
