What the hell is that? A treble clef?

I have to read Wuthering Heights for a research project for English...all of my book choices were based around their relation to music, Wuthering Heights being an excellent power metal band.

Anybody know anything about the book? It's not really holding my interest throughout the first 2 chapters...

TheDMV 02-25-2006 05:18 PM
A treble clef?
I don't think so, it's more like a metal clef. :p

use spark notes

edit: ok, I guess don't use spark notes according to LoAbo

I'm something of a huge fan of that book.

It's fantastic, and has so many layers of meaning.
Bronte does things that make the book incredibly difficult to interpret.

And keep at it, the first few chapters are pretty poor, partly because Lockwood is a huge fool, and deliberately so, in order to satirise the upper classes Lockwood belongs to.

Jack Higgins.
I like Jack Higgins, but I dislike his tendencies to repeat plot strands and themes verbatim from story to story in his WWII novels, in addition to his constant, jarring distinctions between "good Germans" and "bad Germans" in his depiction of the Third Reich's military.

On an unrelated note, how many people actually use the quick reply box at the bottom of the page? I never ever have.

Lord Abortion 02-25-2006 05:27 PM

I always do.

On another unrelated note...who do you think is surprisingly talked little of on here?

Motorhead, for me get surprisingly little MX attention, despite their excellence and musical importance.

Never was a fan, personally.

I always use it.

Not many of the classic rock regs discuss Zeppelin any more. I don't really like them that much.

RE: Quick Reply box

Well....I guess that goes to show you something, but I can't quite put my finger on what at the moment.

PinkFreud 02-25-2006 05:38 PM

my favorite authors are kurt vonnegut, chuck palahniuk, and uh, stephen king. i don't know. other than those 3, i don't stick with particular authors. i just go for books that look interesting.

i only use the quick reply box.

i want a tattoo really badly but im too broke. i would get the gasmask from at the drive-in's alfaro vive, carajo! ep or something like an heart with XO inside of it for elliott smith. i don't really know though.

It's scary how much parts of this song reminded me of Meshuggah.

Do live near Allentown? I was just wondering because I'm listening to a Frank Zappa song and he said something about Allentown, and I'm pretty sure you said you live near Allentown.

Yeah, go through the woods next to my house and once you cross the street on the other side you're in Allentown.

Dee Brown and James Augustine played their last game at Assembly Hall tonight :(

I know none of you probably care but I did. I didn't even get to go there to start because of a paper but I got there near the end of the first half.

I can kinda feel for you, though video game stores and athletes are a bit different.

NP: Opeth, In The Mist She Was Standing

Love the acoustic part at 10:51, so good.

I sort of care. I'm more of a fan of Big East and A10 teams though.

I'm actually kind of surprised that you knew they were athletes. :o

Shattered_Future 02-25-2006 07:45 PM

All of my family is watching my Dark Tranquillity DVD...

Eh, I'm not complaining. My dad turned out to be somewhat of a fan of them after we saw them Friday night. Appreciates their tightness together and the stuff they do on guitar.

I don't like sports, but that doesn't mean my other six siblings don't either.

To Shattered_Future: I wish my family liked Dark Tranquillity, my mom just says their guitar reminds her of classical music.

Deconstruction 02-25-2006 07:49 PM

Anyone here ever heard of The Scabs, Ugly Americans, Joe Rockhead or Bob Schneider?

i am the robots 02-25-2006 07:52 PM

Nope, never heard a single one, sound like rockabilly to me for some reason though...

Illmatic 02-25-2006 07:54 PM

Bob Schneider? Wasn't he the guy from Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo?

Rob Schneider...Bob Schneider is very different, he is a sing/song writer/Guitar player.

Illmatic 02-25-2006 08:03 PM

I don't know who Bob Schneider was, but I was just kidding around.
Anyone in the UK, put on Channel 4 now.
Whats on?

/dosnt live in uk.

So I just got back from a highschool play. They did grease(this is my second time seeing it) and it was awsome.

And I got Arch Enemy's Anthems of Rebellion :) Gotta love the song "We Will Rise"

NP- Arch Enemy- Dead Eyes See No Future

Shattered_Future 02-25-2006 09:17 PM

Methinks either Silent Wars or DESNF are the best tracks on that album.

Only thing cuter than a kitten is a plush Clthuthu. Or some spelling like that.
